Hi there, Lately ive been going through forums trying to suss out benefits and downfalls between turbos and from what ive found people are using these four different turbos.

ct26

ct20b(ct26II)

T3 or T3/T4

GT2860RS

i realize that going with the ct26 is sufficient up to 12psi and is direct fit to 3sgte manifold not sure if i can with ct20b

im really not sure if i want to be going with high boost all the time so my question is . Is there a turbo that would suit low to medium boost

another thing i know that i would need an adaptor for the t3 and garrett setups and was wondering if that would hinder the placement of everything.

lastly i found a writeup where he fitted his fmic under the bar but was not sure what people with air con would do when fitting this because of the condensor assembly, i have air con but defo want the intercooler.

and yes i realize there is alot of supporting mods as to which turbo to choose but i am not too picky counting costs would be bad inspiration

and i would try my best to find the right setup for the turbo i end up using.

any info is greatly apreciated

Dave

There is also the TD05H which I am in the process of installing, that is capable of 22psi on the 3S-GTE.

The CT26 and the "CT20B"(which is actually a CT-26) and they both use the same manifold. This is a good turbo for a low boost setup.

The adapters are usually only a couple of centimeters thick so the shouldn't be much issue with placement.

There is a decent amount of room behind the Gen 5 Celica front bars so there shouldn't be an issue with fitting a front mount, heaps of guys have done it before.

thanks heaps Trent, it seems the ct20b is what im looking for i have noticed that hilux's have ct20's in them is there an actual difference between a ct20 and a ct20b or is this just another code name picked up for identical to ct26

The CT-20 in the Hilux is completely different and is a pretty poor turbo, don't even bother with it. The CT-20B is really just a higher flowing CT-26 but is found on the 3rd Gen 3S-GTE (SW20 and ST205), however, they are EXTREMELY hard to find at all let alone a decent price and condition.

To be honest the CT-20B is probably too much for the stock bottom end on the 5S-FE, the CT-26 is plenty big enough to blow up that engine. 7psi is the general safe zone, however, guys have pushed past this with some success.

Here's a link with a bit of a guide, check it out: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php/topic/28580-the-big-5s-fte-post/
