lookin to buy a 1999 hz75 series landcruiser

Hi josh, The things that I would be looking at when purchasing a hz75series is look underneath for cracks in the chassis and suspension components , check also for any bent or twisted suspension and steering components, check around the cab the cab for rust, especially around the windscreen and back window seal and underneath the flooring inside the cab.

mechanically the cruiser are pretty robust but a lot of cruisers live pretty tough lives, so it pays to check, start the engine and see if its not blowing any blue smoke, then take it for a test drive and look for excess smoke, a little bit of smoke when the engine working is normal, but a lot isnt, it could be injector or fuel pump problems or the engine on its last legs, depending on the kms, when on the test drive check the the gear changes are reasonably easy and check each gear goes in propaly and doesnt jump out of gear especialy 5th gear, if it does it probadly means the previous owner has towed in 5th gear, which is no no, and the gearbox needs a over haul, also listen for any whines or strange noises, if possible check to see if the 4wd ingauge propaly and works.

Try to see if you can get the previous owners service intervals, quiz them if they know when any of the fluids including the radiator are done at the correct intervals and check to see if the engine oil has been changed every 5000kms, these are the basis, the best way is get the truck checked over buy a mechanic or if possible get full vechicle inspection before you hand over your hard earned cash, but in general the 75 series landcruisers are great solid dependable trucks that will give years of service if looked after.
