I have a 2007 Tarago V6 GLX.

I took it for a 120 000 km service and was told by Toyota that I need to replace the engine because of an Oil Sludge issue. The engine is getting noisy too.

I would look like to know if anyone else had a similar issue?

I'll have to replace the engine with a used engine as it is too costly. Does anybody have experience with used engines?

I haven't seen much regarding 2gr engines and sludge issues, how long between oil changes?

I have heard the sludge issue with v6 engines in the us and the odd engine over here, but I think its more to do with lack of maintainance and missed services, did you buy the car new or do you get the car regulary serviced because in general I think the toyota v6 and other engines are pretty durable and reliable.

The cost of a new v6 engine would be eye watering exspensive , yeah a low km used engine would definetly your best bet, 3.5 v6,2GRFE is a common engine, so you wont have any problems locating one, theres wreckers in metropolitan areas that just specialise in wrecking toyotas, they would be the ones I would try, hopefully mate everything goes well for you and lets us know how you get on.

HI

I managed to get a used engine but also lodged an Out of warranty Assistance with Toyota.

I am waiting for Toyota's response. It seems as if Oil Sludge is a contentious issue and in the US Toyota had to repair many engines.
