Hi Guys,

I have a 2009 Aurion SX6, recently brought from a single owner. The car had about 74K done when I got it. Earlier, When I first drove the car, I found the steering wheel harder than my ford. I was explained that it is due to front wheel drive. I thought it might be true and got accustomed to my car.

Last week, when I was taking a turn, I heard a snapping sound and then steering wheel became lose like I had with my ford. This is a good thing but I was worried if something wrong before.

I took my car to a Toyota dealer for servicing (oh boy they are expensive), they looked into the steering wheel issue I mentioned before. They have come back to me saying, the power steering pump is malfunctioning and the replacement cost is 1700. This is way too much.

Have any of you had seem similar problem before? Is there an alternate power steering pump I can buy instead of the genuine Toyota expensive one?

Do suggest

Regards,

SK
