Hi there have a 1991 st184 sx and the heater control knob on the dash doesn't seem to engage when you turn it , it turns pretty freely with no resistance is there a fix? This is my first celica so am a newbie.

Hey is it the climate control version or just the turn dial with hot or cold? I would just swap out the holeunit for a second hand one from the wreckers. To get it out take off plastic where the speedo is then the whole plastic bit that joins to the control for the temp then unsrew it and unplug it.

It's the hot cold one is it just the knob or more that needs replacing?

The knob is connected to a little box that is connected to a switch, if the box is stuffed then you will have to replace the whole thing, dont spend more than 20 dollars on a second hand full replacement unit for it. The knob should be able to pull off but unless the groove for the metal turning thing it is connected to is worn off (Yes it is the technical term lol) it is more than likely the little box it is connected to. If you want heaps of parts access join ozcelica lots of people parting stuff out.

Hope it helps
