Hi,

Just a warning to all Camry Owners, my sister had her 2003 Camry Sportivo 4 cylinder stolen from her driveway on the Lower North Shore of Sydney about 2 weeks ago in the evening.

I would never expect an Automatic 4 cylinder Camry to get stolen but it did.

Rear Windscreen smashed to gain entry.

Be alert !

Cheers.

^^^ That's what I was thinking!! How did they bypass the alarm/immobiliser??

may she didnt lock the car using the remote?

Car was definitely locked.

What I've heard is that they buy a wrecked model and take the Immobiliser and key from that and swap it into the "new" car, then swap over the VIN numbers from the wreck to the "new" car.

Also known as rebirthing.

The stolen car takes the identity of the wrecked car.

Actually, what is Immobiliser??

When i bought an Echo which did not come with alarm, i asked the sales person to install one, but he told me Immobiliser was enough as it will cut fuel if the car key is removed.
