86/BRZ doesn't have variable valve lift, just timing (Subaru's AVCS system). Where did you read that it had "lift"?

My brz does not have lift and my gen 7 celica does have lift from 6000 rpm to 8350 rpm.

Boxer engines have two banks of cams on horizontally opposed heads , so lift operation would be an interesting technical challenge. :)

No different to a quad-cam V6 or V8 setup...plenty of Honda V6s have VTEC with no issues.

Besides, the 86/BRZ runs Subaru-style variable valve timing, and Subaru have their own variable lift system called AVLS which they use on the 2.5L N/A engines, and that works just fine.

It's just VVTi, and when you think about it, most cars these days come out with some sort of Variable Valve Timing..

Don't think it's really compatible to lift, I've tried it on a freeway on ramp near my place, car was warm as well.. it's quite gradual, won't say there's quite a kick to it either.

Mind you, this is coming from an ex-ZZE owner as well
