Hey guys,

I used to have an iPhone which worked flawlessly with the Bluetooth system in my Aurion. It would stream mp3s and make and answer calls perfectly.

I got a Samsung S4 yesterday and was pairing it with my phone. It pairs fine but when I try and make a cal, it says calling but I can't hear anything from my car speakers. When the person answers the phone, an error msg comes up on my head unit saying "Not compatible". Not sure what's going on cause it still streams mp3s just fine.

I tried unpairing them both and repairing them but same issue.

Has anyone else had this problem and suggest something I can try?

It's possible the firmware on the radio needs updating. If it's an aftermarket radio, try the manufacturers website for any updates. If its a factory head unit, mention it to the service dept at Toyota, they may have an update for it. Seeing as the S4 is relatively new on the market, the current firmware may not be fully compatible.

It's the same head unit that came from the factory. Would they charge me for updating the firmware? They're customer service is pathetic from my personal experience.

Possibly. I never got around to getting mine updated as I ended up getting an aftermarket headunit.

  • Hey, was wondering if you were able to resolve the issue with the S4 and the Aurion. My wife just bought an S4 after using an Iphone for years, and we are having the same issues as well with the head unit. I have an S3 which works flawlessly, but the S4 won't. Just wondering if this was sorted?

Hey brother sorry for the late reply. I did end up fixing the issue by downloading a free app from the Google Play Store called "My Bluetooth Handsfree" which did the job. There's also a paid version but it doesn't explain in the description what extra features it has. Hope that helps.

Hi Khaled,

Sorry to have to ask this one again. I've downloaded the My Bluetooth Handsfree app, and i'm not sure if I've done this correctly. I presume the phone needs to remain paired to the audio head unit and still enabled for telephone? I've got the phone paired to the head unit, and in using the app, it still errors with talking not supported on the head unit. This is a Samsung Galaxy S4 4g unit (so i'm not 100% sure if its the firmware of the phone, or the head unit. Even with the my Bluetooth handsfree it still does the same thing. Just wondering how you had the setup between the phone and the head unit configured. Did you have it paired? as the app doesn't recognise the pairing on the phone to the head unit. Which makes me think the phone might be causing some issues.

Btw the paid version seems to be the same without the ads ;-) no real additional new features on that.
