2zz-ge vvti/vvtl problems

Hi, i"ve got a aw11 MR2 that i have transplanted a 2zz-ge into (rallycar) i"mn having problems getting the vvti/vvtl working, i"m useing the standard ecu and engine loom and the ecu is seeing all the imputs that are required to make it all work (speed signal, temp etc) what i need to find out is does the ecu trigger the solinouids to allow the oi lpressure to operate the vvti/vvtl or does the oil pressure trigger the ecu to make it work??? as i have tried putting an oil pressure guage into the senser on the ocv and it shows no oil pressure at idle or doing a power run on the dyno, i have also tried putting a led onto the ocv and the ecu where the negitive is switched and the light does not go out either.Any help would be great as i"ve had this in the car for nearly a year and are going nowhere.

I have also got a Apexi power fc that i brought fom this site that i no longer need if anyones interested.

Cheers Brian

The vvtli has its separate ocv. When the temperature is warm enough the ecu allows the 2zzge to go into lift. There is the flow sensor too. If there is sludge it will not go into lift.

Hi i"ve checked the filters in ocv"s and they are really clean, have also tried powering the ocv"s sepperatly and they both work, problem seems to be that the ocv"s are powered all the time and it is the negitive that is switched but by pluging a led into the ecu plug c pin 23 it shows that it is not switching so don"t know why??? i"ve had the lift bolts replaced so thats not the problem.i really just need to know if the ecu switches to allow the oil flow to operate the vvti or should there be oil pressure at the solinouid all the time ?? Thanks again.

Really want to get this sorted as i"ve spent a lot of time on this car, i"ve made carbonfibre doors and bonnet and a 1 piece fibreglass backend that hinges at the roof so no steel guards and it weighs 850kgs, also has the full TRD gear kit so should be a real wepon.

Yes 64degress is the temp required and ecu is seeing that and i"ve installed a toda oil pump so has heaps of oil pressure but thats 1 thing i"m not possitive it is seeing, it has the 8200 limiter
