Hiyas,

Is the colour of the oil a very clean colour, or a darkish colour like engine oil?

it's a darkish colour like engine oil

noticed it whilst i had the car hoisted up, before i drained the engine oil and oil filter

Hiyas,

I would be giving it a good wash, and taking a look at it in a week or so. If by that time it is dripping or there are oil beads it is something to worry about.

Get it checked, but it could just be that your sump plug was loose causing some oil to leak. I thought my gearbox was leaking, it turned out to be the idiots at toyota service didn't tighten the sump plug and somehow when driving the oil seems to travel across to the bottom of the gearbox.
