Suitable diff centre for V6 Hilux

I have an '83 2wd RN41 Hilux.

The diff code on the compliance plate is G102.

This means (I hope) it has an 8 inch crown wheel, 4.375 : 1 ratio and 2 pinion open centre.

I also have a 3.8L Commodore V6, 5 speed Toyota G52 gearbox and an adaptor kit to make it all fit.

I'm starting at the rear of the vehicle and working forward.

I believe Toyota made some 3.7 : 1 diff centres for their V6's.

The diff leaks and I have a rebuild kit for it.

While I've got it open I'd like to change the centre to a ratio that will suit the V6.

The 3Y engine and 3 speed auto used to scream at 80kms.

I've never worked on a diff before but I think with the help of a service manual and YouTube I can get thru it if I can source the right parts.

What would be a good ratio and where can I get a replacement centre?

I'm building a work ute, not a show pony or racer.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Ps. The speed limit on the highway here is 130kph so I'd like to be able to cruise at that speed for long periods.

You could do what i'm doing and use a 3.58:1 diff out of a KUN26 (2005 or newer 4wd 5speed manual) rear diff centre. Will completley bolt up and come with and LSD. Only thing is you have to buy a drive shaft also (from a KUN16 2005 or newer 2wd) and make up a new shaft from your old one and the new one as the flanges are different. I have the same conversion in my LN56 hilux and it worked a treat. My diff code is a G292

So your saying I just change over the diff centre?

If only the flanges are different would it be worth just buying the flanges from Toyota or is it cheaper to just buy the whole shaft from the wreckers?

I'll start hunting around the wreckers, slim pickings here in Darwin so I'll probably have to freight the parts up.

Any suggestions for where to source parts?

Thanks,
