I just purchased 2013 Toyota Estima V6 Aeras, and I have the same problem the only comprehensive insurance I can find is NRMA for $2225.03 that with all my loyalty.

Normal is $2991.64. It's so expensive.

You could try using an insurance broker and see if they can find a better premium. Main issue is that it is an overseas import so a number of insurers will not be interested in covering the vehicle.

Higher insurance premiums [if available] is a big reason why a lot of people do not buy these "grey" import vehicles plus also availability of parts.

Always a good idea to get an insurance quote before buying a vehicle.

I’m in Queensland, I called yesterday, RACQ, Shannon’s, AAMI, Suncorp, and Budget Direct, and none of them will insure an Estima, so how come a few members here have insurance with these companies?

I'm about to purchase a 2010 Estima (2.4L/3.5L) and thought to do some research online beforehand. Definitely surprised that getting an insurance is not straight forward considering how many estima's I've seen on the road

I have a couple questions and would appreciate people sharing their experience

- If purchasing from a dealer, is the car still considered an import by insurer?

- As it's going to be family car, we'd like to get proper insurance (third party/comprehensive). I'm based in NSW, can anyone please recommend budget friendly insurer/s based on your experience or research.

Yes.  The defining factor of being an import is where that particular car was sold new.
