Hi to all post 2010 Hilux owners,

I've got a problem, or more particularly, a potential problem with my 2011 Hilux. Forward of the two front doors, lie the mudguard outer skin and an inner skin. At the base of these two skins lies a void, a void which collects leaves and similar debris that seems to fall into these voids from the area underneath the windscreen. On a recent off road trip, both voids filled with fine dust. A combination of this accumulated crap, with any added moisture, is a guaranteed future rust issue. A strong vacuum cleaner removed some of this crap, but I'm not all sure that I've got all the residual rubbish out.

Any ideas?? I've approached Toyota Australia, but, so far, their response is essentially meaningless. I'll push the issue with them, working on the premise that the mechanical structure of the skins in question is a design problem.

How do other Hilux owners manage this issue??

Regards.

Lawrence.

Keeping the mud soft helps to remove it once you are ready to clean it out. Once it goes hard, you will have issues removing it all.
