Hi Guys,

I am a Canuck that's been stranded in Perth the last 10 years...

My wife's 2006 RAV4 SX5 has a blown V6 motor (2GR-FE) due to water pump failure (110,000 kms). At minimum I expect to have to replace the heads. Once the heads are off, I'll see what's going on and go from there. Worst case I'll need to replace the long engine.

I've been thinking ahead and considering my options. If the long engine does need to be replaced, I could have Perth Engine Exchange rebuild mine for approx. $7,000. Or, I could buy a used long engine for about $4,000. The wreckers tell me I can use a 2GR-FE long engine from other models/years as long as I re-use the manifolds and other ancillaries off my current engine (for example a 2GR-FE from a 2012 Aurion). Is this CORRECT? Have tried the search function but am still not clear. Can you guys please advise?

There should be no/minimal difference internally. I have seen it done in the past to other vehicles, so I can't see why it wouldn't swap in.
