Hey how we all doing. Got a bit of a problem. Factory alarm system goes off whenever it feeks like it. Have worked out it is mainly after a drive. Car can sit at home all day or even a couple of days locked up. Nothing happens. But take it for a drive and then lock it and the alarm goes off within about 15 minutes. Had battery checked the other day and it is only getting 12.4 volts. So alternator is on the way out. Would this be enough to set the alarm off. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

The alarm will be triggered if any of the doors, boot or bonnet are opened or the battery is disconnected then reconnected after the the vehicle has been locked for approximately 30 seconds.

so going on that, is check your door switches as one may be faulty.

you can do this by unlocking the car, open and close a door and wait for the light to go out.

now with out opening the doors, push and wiggle the doors one at a time and see if the light comes on.

also do this with the boot, you will have to get in the boot for this, make sure the seats are folded down and the keys are with you, but don't forget to take them out when you get out.

now to test the bonnet is a bit harder.

with my Atara SL I have a MID in my cluster that tells me if the bonnet is open or closed.

do you get an alert if the bonnet is opened?

the other thing is the battery could be on its way out, making the car think you have removed and reinstalled it, which would cause it to trigger the alarm.

also check the battery terminals are tight and secure.
