My mum gave me this car about 6 years ago and since then i have had multiple rats/mice breaching the cabin. I often kill them off but for the life of me i can't work out how they get in. They are coming and going from the car because i see bamboo leaf litter in there and in the nest in the blower motor fan  macadamia nut shells.

View from above the blower motor.

This ***** i got in there a few weeks ago. As you can see he isn't small so a decent sized opening is somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated. I have owned many cars and never had this problem.

I would say they are coming in from the bonnet cowl, underneath the wipers. Do you leave the air vents open or on recirculate?

A cheap smartphone endoscope off eBay may help to see through the vent better.

The wife mostly drives it so i don't know. It shouldn't happen either way but i actually told her earlier to leave it closed.

I looked over the cowl today but it's so tight and very intact i ruled it out as a possible cause.

I am beginning to think maybe they come in through the bottom of the car or around the boot?

When the rats were in the blower motor it would have been like one of those spinning gravitron rides. I can just imagine all their little faces pinned to the walls as it goes around. HA.

Just happened to be looking at YouTube a few weeks ago about rat traps and mouse traps etc. What caught my attention was an alternative approach to get rid of a rat that had taken up residence in her garage. Due to their sensitive sense of smell, she soaked rags in ammonia and left them in the garage area. I think mint can also be effective.
