Speaker wiring

Hi

I have a 1998 Conquest. I am replacing the front speaker. The left front speaker is not producing sound.

The wires between the coupling in the door and the speaker seem ok, so the fault is elsewhere. Does anyone know where I can find a diagram of the wiring from the stereo to the speaker? I am having trouble where the wiring in the door goes, without taking it out of the door and creating a mess.

Can I simply rewire from the fusebox to the speaker, ignoring the existing wiring?

 The speaker wiring won't go through a fuse box.

You can go straight from the headunit to the speaker. It is far easier to check for continuity using a multimeter.

Don't rule out a headunit fault either. If it is aftermarket, check for dodgy wiring.

You follow the original path as closely as possible.

Check the original wiring with a multimeter before going to that effort. You can get cheap ones.

Consider professional assistance if this seems too difficult.

The wiring needs to go from the car body through to the door. It's part of the bundle of wires in the door. How do I get it through to the door?

The same as the factory did. It's not a fun job.

There is a big risk in 'playing around' with the wiring to the speaker - any speaker. It is very easy to blow the particular side's output transistor in the unit - radio or amplifier. In fact it could be already 'gone'.  It is a very tricky job and better handled by a professional auto radio technician.

I found a broken wire behind the head unit.

That should be fairly easy to repair provided there is enough length.
