Hi

I'd just like to ask how the C-HR is for cost of ownership compared to other cars, like the Camry. If I did buy a C-HR I guess it would be the 2 wheel drive with CVT.

Does it cost more for things like car servicing, insurance and tyres? Would it get noticeably different fuel economy to the Camry?

Also, I've never owned a car with a turbo. Does having a turbo put a big strain on the 1.2 litre engine? Would the engine have a shorter life compared to non-turbo engines or would it have just as long a life as long as it was serviced properly?

I've been mainly looking at the Camry but I'm open to looking at the C-HR. I'm currently looking at buying a new car in the second half of this year.

Thanks.

Hi This Guy

Insurance was about par with my previous Santa fe

Tyre's - cant say yet - but I'm guessing around similar 500 odd when I need to replace

Easy enough to google tyre prices based on tyre size

Turbos are powered by the exhahust gases and at around 0.5 Bar will multiply engine by Half so your 1.2 basically becomes a 1.8

It does not strain the engine - if anything it becomes more nimble

The servicing is fixed at $195  and costs half as less as a corolla

Regarding economy - I'm averaging around 7.0 L per 100 Kms

I have a great run to work in the morning averaging 5.9 - but a horrid drive home that takes me twice as long where I usually go 7.3

Edit 14th Mar -  A couple of days after this post - John Cardogan put out a little article on small turbos - this might help you with your decision
