Hi all

my ignition barrel had jammed up so was wondering would a second hand one with a key work in my aurion or do I need to replace anything else as well?

I'd try squirting some lubricating spray into the key way and using the key, drive it in and out to help loosen the wafers. If the barrel is actually damaged and lube doesn't do it, then you can purchase a 2nd hand barrel from a wrecker and have it keyed to your original key at your local key-smith.

If you are planning on replacing the barrel yourself, you will need the snap bolts to re attach the barrel to the steering column. Your local dealer will have these. The original mounting bolts will have a "sheared" top so there is no way of loosening it with a regular tool. You'll have to loosen them with a sharp centre punch starting from the outermost section to allow for rotation.  Anti clockwise direction of course.

Let us know how you go.

Cheers
