I have a 2020 (2021 spec) RAV Cruiser with an annoying clunk from the front suspension over some bumps. I first noticed the noise after about 3 months but it does not occur on all bumps or some speed bumps (short sharp ones) but it seems to be on bumps you drive onto rather than over.

I first went to SCI Fleet Brendale (Bris) with no luck as I think they thought I has hearing things.  When the first service was due, I took the vehicle to SCI Fleet Kedron but before I went in to the office I found a long low speed bump near the dealer where the noise was evident. On dropping the vehicle off, I had a master technician come with me to the same spot and he clearly heard the noise. They had the rack out that day but could not stop the noise from reoccurring, but at least the guy heard it. Finally took the vehicle back for an all day evaluation they asked for but again, no positive result.  What was very disappointing was that the guy who clearly heard the noise and wanted the vehicle back, just happened to be on leave.

So back to square one. One positive thing to come out of today was that they have referred it to Toyota Australia.

I've been on the RAV4WORLD site (US) and there is a lot of comments from around the world complaining about this issue. Just wanting to know if anyone has a similar problem and what sort of response you received from the dealer.

Any help or advice you can give would be appreciated

Thanks

Mike Bailey

I have got a few thoughts but unlikely for a relatively new vehicle.

Ist thought is that the strut is worn and bottoming out. However this should have already been easily detected.

2nd thought is some gravel or stones caught in the strut around the base of the spring.

Last thought is to take it to Pedders for a $28 Check and Report. Maybe an inconvenience but at least this will hopefully determine/detect any suspension issues.

I havent experienced this so far but some clown smashed in our front wheel as well as panels a couple of months back. The struts needed replacing and it was a devil of a job finding parts.
