Hi There,

We have a 2004 Toyota Porte and the right hand drivers side window shattered yesterday completely unexpectedly and for no apparent reason. We now need to source a replacement window urgently, otherwise the car will have to go to the wrecking yard and we really want to avoid this worst case scenario if at all possible. Can anyone please recommend how we can get one? As from our research thus far it seems that they are pretty much impossible to come by. We are located in Maryborough QLD.

Thanks in advance!

Emma

I've never heard of such a model to be honest. Were these a grey import or something ?

If so, due to the relative uniqueness of the model here, I would imagine it be difficult to find used parts in a hurry unless you contact all your local area wreckers. I can't imagine there being much wrecked stock. You may need to go through Toyota directly in the event none turn up used.

I found this place in QLD, might help.

Hi Tony

Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, it is an imported car, which does complicate things unfortunately. I have also contacted Toyota directly and am awaiting a response and will definitely make contact with the Brisbane Wreckers you suggested.   Thanks again!

They were brought in as grey imports to be used as wheelchair-accessible cars for people with disabilities.  Al Palmer's in Sydney was one of the main importers, although I'm not sure what happened with that business after Al died a couple of years ago
