well you have to buy a GPS receiver first. i just use a USB thing with a long ***** cable so you can position it in the best location...

then you have to download the GPS programs, which you can get for free from a number of sites...

the problem is getting your hands on maps. they are very difficult to download, especially australian maps... you might have to buy them.

GPS is the greatest thing in the world :D besides... Pho

Just like blue_rolla said, get your hands on a GPS receiver first (either USB or bluetooth)... personally I prefer the USB ones as the bluetooth sh*ts me. I'd hate it if the receiver ran out of battery during a long trip too.

Some free GPS software include Freedrive and Mapmonkey.

Mapmonkey works better for me as I can click on the map and drag around to view other streets incase I need to find shortcuts when stuck in traffic, etc.

Then you'll need to find Australian maps. You'll need Destinator maps since those 2 programs I mentioned use Denstinator maps. You can either buy them (around $300-$400aus) or try finding them. Or if you ask nicely, I'm sure some members here can share it with you :)

GPS receivers start from around $80 on ebay. I got an $80 one and it works a treat :D

There's always the T-Sport head unit. Someone in melbourne has one. They look cool. Integrated GPS.

I know it's not on a laptop but it still looks cool.
