Hi all,

So I got a new 2023.rav4 hybrid cruiser. It was manufactured in July 2023. The website says wireless android auto and so does the dealer but it doesn't work, still requires a cable. I played around with it for a few hours uninstalling, trying all different ways but no wireless.....I used  to have these issues in 2016, how on gods earth is this still happening with a brand new car...like is that it,  apple won?

I don't want a cable because it gets messy and I find it cuts in and out, did I get a dud infotainment system or android auto really doesn't work still?

G'day Andp.

Apparently, according to the RAV4 brochure on Toyota's website, wireless is only with Car Play and not Android Auto. Yeah. It sucks.

I have the Cruiser Hybrid 2024 and can confirm that AA wireless is not working, still needs the cable. I'm a bit disappointed because my phone won't fit anymore in the wireless charger tray.

Hi, same. I have a Feb 2024 Cruiser. AA needs the cable to operate. Car Play works wirelessly.

I've been tried 8 different units wireless Android Auto adapters, none of them are working. I'm very regret bought the RAV4 Crusier.

I purchased a RAV4 Hybrid Cruiser in August 2024 for over $60,000, but I'm disappointed with its lack of wireless Android Auto. I've tested various wireless Android Auto adapters available on Amazon, including the Motorola MA1 and Carlinkit 5.0 2air, but none work reliably.

My question to Toyota is: If you chose not to include wireless Android Auto in the infotainment system, why make it difficult for RAV4 owners to use third-party wireless adapters? Given the premium price I paid for this vehicle, I deeply regret my purchase decision.

For a an actual solution for this issue for anyone trying to find out how to get wireless android auto in their newer RAV4 - carlinkit 4.0 specifically works perfectly.

I tried carlinkit 5.0 and the Motorolla MA1 and neither worked. But the 4.0 routes android auto through as apple carplay which the car likes more.

Why not just buy an iPhone, problem solved.

Your solution is akin to suggesting that switching to a different car manufacturer would resolve the issue. However, not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for using an iPhone as you do.

It's a simple solution though? Already laying down 60k for a RAV4, so what's another 1k on a phone to make everything work seamlessly? 👍

OK.

Does any of Toyota's advertising material mention Android Auto? If so then kick up a stink, with Toyota management, about misrepresentation and false advertising, reminding them of the hefty fines.
