what mode is dyno on when most on here have had theirs on ? shootout4 (4 cylinder?)

cheers

i went to the toymods dyno day on sunday morning and put the rolla through its paces. not sure what mode the dyno at SAS was on (didn't really know much about the modes and didn't ask either) but my car put out 107.9kw atw. my car is 05 model with Cai, twin loop muffler. its done about 50k on the odo. but yeah i know that diff dynos put out diff power figures and i was thinking that with the cai t would put out about 11-115 i guess. The power curve was very nice and the car drives well so i guess thats the most important thing.

yeah we had two cars with CAI's.....

one got 110 ish and mine got 109.....mince also has rear muffler setup and quad tips etc which prob loses me power if anything, so what you got sounds about spot on....

quick update rear sway and front strut brace going in this weekend :) and doing my gear selector cable bushings also.

today had car in at toyota, long story short if youve been following my thread lots of weird grinding brake noise for ages, they ended up replacing my front brake pads under warranty (have done 45k) so far so good *fingers crossed* no noise or grinding yet.

Also they checked my clutch adjustment etc and also my gearbox oil as i said gears are notchy and annoying to change whilst in lift etc, the oil was BLACK!!! apparently toyota "inspect" it at every service although i find it hard to believe it went black with 6,500km since 40k service, anyway they said need new oil and wuold have to pay for that as is a serviceable item and would be done at 50k service ne way.....so i got the guy to buy Castrol Syntrax 75w90 instead of stock and also added Nulon G70. Guy also noted that the gearbox oil was overfull and from what he could see this was from factory as every service its just "inspect" (untill its due for change etc), he said that wouldnt help with gear changes at all. Last thing they checked was rear door seals as i mentioned can hear air flow and its annoying, they have ordered new ones in and will replace them for me in next week or so.

So now car is all good brakes seem ok *fingers crossed*

Gearbox has been sorted, new oil and nulon and clutch adjustment/check everything

Rubber door seals to be replaced soon underwarranty

Total cost = $75.00 which was just for the oil and nulon, gotta love cannon toyota camberwell, great bunch of blokes and take care of TOCAU members

cheers

Quick update

On Saturday 19th July Andy (Blindkidseeks) and I installed our rear sway bars and front strut brace, both by whiteline and cost $520 for all four :) great deal, also on the day andy changed his oil and we changed my gear cable selector bushings so now it is a nice and tight feel.........took us from about 9.30 - 3.00 with afew bears.....some bunnings sausages for lunch anf afew trips to bunnings etc. No real hassles......bolts were tight as on sway bars...meant we bent Andys spanner, only bit annoying bit was my front strut .....one bolt just would not undo.....broke two spanners and one socket (not best quality tools) didnt want to spend 50$ on a breaker bar for one use so found a metal fabricator who was open on a sunday arvo and he had tools so no prob.........

After we were all done we went for a 140km cruise from greensborough up over the dandenongs to Monbulk area i think and then back......car feels unreal, so tight, no body roll.....can corner at nice high speeds and feel safe and secure....great mod and easy DIY too

some pics below

Equipments - i got two jack stands, a 1400kg trolley jack and oil catch tray for 59$ @ autobarn....Jack stands allow you to feel safe under car

Another quick update

Melbourne Cruise number two tomoz so i washed my car so its all ready

* ECU reset as i changed back to stock exhaust last sunday so figured id best do a reset as tomorrow on the cruise will be a good time to "teach" the car with some spirited drivng

* MAF sensor clean - pulled out the MAF sensor today and cleaned it with some elctronic circuit cleaner spray ....cant remember its exact name....hadnt done it for a while (1yr) so thought id do this whilst the battery was sitting disconnected, also did the battery terminal with spray too figured cant hurt cleaning it.

* fixed my dash mat......if your like me you have cleaned your dash before with dash cleaner therefore no sticky velcro tape stuff sticks at all and when you push your car a bit it slides down onto you and is very very dangerous....easy solution...zip ties into air vents....takes two mins and easily removed when wanted.......neccessity if want dash mash in especially with some spirited driving on cruise tomoz---dont know why i didnt think of this about 3 months ago lol.

Where did you get the Strut brace and swaybars from?

I know itll obviously be cheaper when you buy bulk, but i got a quote for $175 for the same strut brace and $199 for the swaybar + $20 freight from Bursons in sydney.

Also does the swaybar come with anything else other than the bar? any new bushings?

ah sway / strut from bursons for 118$ each :) i have to suss this out again for a TOCAU member from perth who would like to organise buying and posting to save spending 250$ for the same item in perth :o .

bit of an update........stock headers ported and polished by christmas hopefully....just depends on porting place and holidays really as got a set between mates so we are doing the drop off pick up give mate your stock routine.....im second in line so hopefully by Xmas...

Other than that the muffler is going really well happy with it........got HIDs arriving in a week or so for my foggies and my low beam .....only reason buying them is because one lowbeam blew and they are the diamond vision expensive ish so figured spend bit more and get HIDS for them and foggies......

Also scratched my front bar a little in a dirt carpark which had a nice rise in it :(......so i wanna rip that off rup back bottom cm or so and prime & paint that in a matt black (bottom cm etc...and taper off at corners...will practice style with black tape etc)to match eyelids, foggie surrounds and bottom air dam grille bit plus fix up the nicks/scratches at the bottom level.

At this time it will also be perfect while bar off to play with CAI/ clean filter (done 25k or so .....not really needed but might as well while bar off) and also cut the bracket mount so that i can actually get it to fit properly and check / redo the protection for CAI, ill get a plastic sleeve for the bit where it touches car below light etc...

Finally sometime soon im going to rip calipers off and fully clean them back and paint them off the car so i get a better and longer lasting result....got afew bits flaking off (1cm size) etc so want that done better.......and i think ill swap rims front to back as done about 10k.........so afew things on the go nothing to expensive just little things..

cheers

looking good man, i guess i can get some ideas off your car as i got the same.

Are you not gonna coat them in anything? HPC or Thermal Wrap? either way, let us know how they go, if you get any improvement, did you have any other mods to see how effective this mod actually is? CAI? Zorst?

Yes your headers came up very well kolourhero :)

As far as HPC coating....have done some research and discussions with others and have come to the conclusion that it nots worth the cost .....200$ or so.

Dont get me wrong HPC coating is the goods and on a turbo car running high temps will be heaps beneficial.....on our cars might give some very tiny tiny gains ....which all add up i guess although $200 for maybe one kw doesnt sound too appealing...the temps our cars create are minimal compared to monsters that require HPC coating to give great improvements.

As far as what else done that is the fun one lol

Ive got TRD CAI - Ported headers - stock exhaust and rear Xforce Varex - hopefully giving me 115-120kw @ wheels. With just the CAI it gave 109kw.

Blind Kid Seeks then has the TRD CAI - Ported Headers and 2.5" exhaust and Xforce Varex.

Now he found that with the 2.5" exhaust it seemed to be great up high in the rev range but down low it lacked in torque and seemed to improve when you ran the Varex closed (creating backpressure). and also it had a slight torque hole between 4-5k which after talking to guys from Head 2 head (porting specialists etc) he believes this is where the 2.5" might be a slight downfall.... So currently my car feels fine and doesnt seem to have any torque hole so maybe it maybe that the stock 59mm approx (stock between 2 1/4 and 2 1/2") might be the perfect medium... as other exhaust ppl who have dealt with sportivos have found major gain comes from a rear muffler change......i think from memory Blind kid Seeks got 119 or 120kw @ wheels with his setup so id be hoping for the 115-120 ish mark as is........so yeah opinions fly everywhere ......this is what we have found it to be so far

* if you want a better description of setups etc pm Blind Kid Seeks he will explain it better than me i think

so far the setups go like this....

Jaderd : TRD CAI, K&N Pod, Head2head Ported Headers, Xforce Varex Muffler

Kenji : CES CAI Drift Pod, Head2head Ported Headers, 2.5" Mandrel Bent SS Catback + Xforce Varex

Kolourhero : CES CAI Drift Pod, Head 2 Head Ported Headers, 2.5" CES Mandrel Bent Catback

Guni : CES CAI Drift Pod, Head 2 Head Ported Headers (soon), Stock Exhaust System

BKS : TRD CAI ITG Foam Pod, Head 2 Head Ported Headers, 2.5" SS Mandrel Bent Catback + Xforce Varex (118.2kw atw)

and before ANYONE starts another Dyno/Kw Debate.... all that needs to be said is... I cant wait till we can line all these cares up on a dyno on the same day!
