clutch kit

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Some guy is selling a clutch kit on trademe and I asked him for the kit that suits out zze123 2zz-ge and he kept saying that the TYK-6932 is the same as TYK-7334HD.

On the stickied parts list is says that clutch kit is for the zze122. So I was wondering if anyone here can confirm that it is the same.

heres the link.

The clutch will fit but as i was informed by a rep of exedy at the reply below,

thank you, for your enquiry. The ZZ123 is a heavier version of

the ZZ122. You cannot use the ZZ122 kit in the ZZ123 as you may

encounter slipping.

Alternatively, this is the response from ACS.

Hi Guan,

Exedy would technically be correct; the ZZE123 does run a heavier factory clutch- however we run the upgraded clutch in both the ZZE122 and ZZE123. It's not the weight that varies, it's the clamping pressure- we run the higher spec in both vehicles.

Please let me know if you need any futher clarification!

Kind regards,

David

Thanks David.

Exedy has listed different HD clutch kit part numbers for ZZE122 (100kw) and ZZE123 (141kw). They claim that although the are both the same size, weight differs and using a ZZE122 clutch kit on a ZZE123 may encounter slipping.

Can you explain this?

Part numbers for the ZZE122 (TYK-6932 HD) and ZZE123 (TYK-7334 HD) respectively.

Thank you very much for the assistance rendered.

Much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your enquiry.

Apologies for the confusion- it should say 'includes 1ZZFE' meaning it fits the 100kw and the 141kw sportivo engines.

In this instance the clutch would be virtually identical to the Exedy heavy duty kit for this vehicle- the clamp load and release characteristics are the same.

Please let me know if there is any more information I can give you.

Kind regards,

David Nelson

Hi,

Interested in your Clutch Part # KTY22004HD but it says on your catalogue that it fits Toyota Corolla ZZE123 (1/2003-Onwards) 1ZZ-FE Petrol. Now all ZZE123 only comes with 2ZZ-FE Petrol engine.

Question is, will this still fit? Can this be comparable to the Exedy Heavy Duty Clutch kit?

Thanks.

You do realise you just quoted the same part number so technically, he is right. They are excatly the same.

ACS is an alternative to Exedy and a cheaper one at that. People in the industry have informed me that they come off the same production line anyway which is made by Daikin.

And as always, happy to be corrected if its otherwise.

:)

Hey Guni

You are right i did repeat the same part number. I was supposed to write TYK-6932HD like that you have mentioned in your emails.

So it seems that the Exedy one has two different clutch kits for the 1zz-fe and the 2zz-ge.

But extreme clutch's KTY22004HD would be good for 2zz-ge?

I just checked xtreme's website and they have the KTY22014HD which is for the 2zz-ge celica. Did you check that out?

Nope. But you should and see what they say. I know the linkages for the Celica's gearbox is in a different location to the Sportivo's but doubt that will transalate to a different clutch.

Check and see what they say. Interesting .... Hmmm .............

  • 2 months later...

about 4-5 hours worth, less for a workshop that knows what they're doing. Add gearbox oil, rear main seal, flywheel machining and possibly new flywheel bolts and driveshaft nuts to that list. The 1zz rear main seal is hideously expensive from toyota @ ~$80

varies depending on the workshop's labour price. Most around here seem to charge $80-100 an hour... Basically set aside ~$600 for the installation and you should be safe.

WOW....so is best to get a good clutch kit and make the most from the installation cost.

You'll probably find that the installation cost also varies massively from workshop to workshop, but it's always good to take advantage of any little extra stuff that can only be done when the gearbox is removed (rear main seal etc)
