  1. Hi Guys. I haven't experience any of the problems mentioned on this board except the brake squel in reverse. The gear box seams to be tight from 1st to 2nd but not to the extent that you guys are experiencing. I can land in lift form first to second but your timing has to be spot on. If you guys are having trouble from 1st to 2nd and cruching gears easily then it sounds like it could be the syncrhos. Don't we have double cone synchros from 1st to 2nd?
  2. That is a sweet looking ride! I love the LCD screen. speakers in the door are pretty cool. I'm supprised they didn't replace the seats all together. the height of them have got to be the weakest point of the whole interior. I'm not so sure if would be willing to sacrifice the storage compartment for Head unit placement though. I've seen some pretty cool single din retractable LCD monitors around. that still leaves space for the head unit. i love the rear spoiler. looks very cool
  3. Don't say that, Nikick! :( alot of us just got the car. I'm just starting to get used to pple admiring my car for once instead of just looking at others in envy :D
  4. Dudes. I'm pretty sure that's a Honday badge on the front of that car man. no way toyota would style their 04 corolla that way (hope not :P ). there is no styling cues from any of the current models in the Toyota line-up. The Echo is like a cute little corolla...etc
  5. that is a nice concept car. I'm not so sure about all the road safety features such as auto speed limiting and what not. The stylying adopts too many astra/open styling cues. It's a toyota only by name. The toyota concepts are there. I think toyota's bread and butter is the older market where they see themselves as being strong. Notice how the camry has speed warning and less agressive styling vs the accord. As much as Toyota tries to shake its cardigan catholic school image, it's where their market lies. just a simple comparison: Echo - Jazz corolla - Civic Celica - Integra Camry - Accord MR2 - S2000 RAV4 - CRV If you look at all these vehicles in their class you will notice that Toyota is either styled or it's performance is suited for a much more mature market. The only exception being the Sportivo and RAV4. my 2 cents.
  6. I'm not looking at the tacho when i cain my car. My eyes are glued to the road just incase anything happens. :D i usually land in lift from 1st to 2nd and hold that for a while. i back off and shift into 3rd to ease the engine and by then i'm doing 120Km/h.
  7. Also. High lift doesn't strain the engine but makes it run more effeciently. My theory is that if we were to turbo charge our cars then there would be enough manifold pressure for it to be worthwile to lower high lift. Remember, high lift cams are not much different to race cam profiles on race cars. I would love to see a turbo Stivo with modded internals. i'm curious to see how much power and torgue gain there would be. <_< ;)
  8. I dont' think it would work well with lift kicking in down low. all it would mean is that you would have crappy fuel economy. High lift is to make sure that enough air is entering the combustion chamber at high rpm as the time between strokes is too short and the valve closes too quickly for the air to enter. both the increased valve timing and high lift help at high rpm where most engines would struggle for breath. there wouldn't be enough airflow at low rpm to take advantage of high lift anyway. That's why you hear about people who have lowered lift point not feeling any difference. I'm not sure why the v-tec system works with lowered v-tec point though Just my 2cents.
  9. Congrats Buddy. I know how you feel about the wait. Penrith Toyota got my car in around 1 week but it took a month for the finances come into place. hehehe. the wait was excruciating.
  10. I would ask that the rolla be lower in body design, lower-mount front seats. Steering reach adjustments. Better damping in mid corners and more low-end torque please. mount the engine a little further back behind the front struts to enduce less under-steer. besides that, i love the new rolla. the stivo is so much fun to drive. and feels more refined than Astra, Focus and most cars in it's class and price-range. :P
  11. Hi Guys My rolla cuts out at outactly 8000rpm. isn't that when it's suppose to cut out? any further would put it into the red which is not good for the engine right?
  12. So sorry about the damage to your card dude. I've got the same colour car. I feel your pain man. My deepest sympathies. :(
  13. Welcome mike I'm new to this board myself. Everyone seems like a friendly bunch. You get a few interesting reads about racing encounters on this board. I'm yet to participate in a cruise but will definitely take part when the next one is organised. Cheers.
  14. I'll keep an eye out blade. I own a Silver one too but my rego starts with "APY"
  15. Congrats man!!! I've had mine for 2weeks and i'm loving it! 29k is a damn good deal man! that's how much i got mine for and i didn't get grill or paint protection. damn! and i thought i was a good negotiator. and you got an 04plated car too. I'm from sydney and so far i've seem about 5-6 sportivos on a regular basis. I wonder if their owners are members of this board. I see a silver and a blue stivo around the Silverwater area all the time and a black one around Liverpool. Hmm... <_< anyways. hope you love the car as much as we do. p.s watch your **** when the leather seats have been in the sun for a while. :P
  16. Thanks for the replies guys. I bought my car from Penrith Toyota. it's a long way to travel but i was referred there and the service is great. Sales and service staff are very effecient (sound's like i'm advertising for them hehhe) I just hit 1800km and had my first service this morning. I agree, the more you drive it the more you love the car. I'm looking forward to the next cruise so i can check out what ppl have done to their cars. blackrolla, I am close enough to the liverpool area. Fairfield to be exact. Anyways, Cheers guys.
  17. Hi all I am a recent and proud new owner of a silver Sportivo. drives like a dream. My previous car was an 89Celica coupe and so naturally the high seating position of the rolla took a little getting used to. I must say that the Corolla is much much much quicker than i originally thought. I test drove both the levin and the sportivo and I immediately fell in love with the sportivo. The only negative thing i have to say about the corolla is that its not as inspiring as the celica. Which is a good thing for my licence =) I find that I am more willing to throw the celica around a little more and the handling is mucn more communicative. I am not sure at this stage if its a experience/confidence thing. I have taken it to life two or three times after the 1k km mark. Are there any modded Sportivos out there. I am considering lowering and the sprotivo front grille for starters. I don't know why Toyota didn't include the black grille as standard. $250 unpainted is what i was quoted by Peter Warren Toyota in Warrick Farm Cheers!
