  1. that picture is the American International kit, 1 piece. genuine toyota parts is 3 pieces therefore several joins. for genuine toyota parts you can only install your head unit on the top.
  2. i disagree with the need for aftermarket shocks when you install lowered springs. of course you can purchase aftermarket shocks but good manufacturers produce lowered springs for specific cars. if you purchase TEIN for corolla the springs are matched to the factory suspension. there is no need to replace your shocks. if you purchase lowered springs from a manufacturer that did not match the springs to the factory suspension it was sold for then you will have problems. progressive springs get firmer the faster you drive. you should not cut progressive springs. on the otherhand lovells have the same spring rate throughout the spring (top-middle-end) these are great if you want to cut the springs to have your car lowered a lot! if you are worried about spring sag you should use pedders because they have very little sag whereas king springs sag a lot more. you could be roadworthy for lowered height when your springs are new but a few months later you could be too low. having said that i do not think this is a big problem for the corolla because it of its unusually high height, therefore the extra sag could be an advantage.
  3. i got my windows tinted 4 months after delivery of my corolla. when i was researching what i wanted to purchase i did NOT contact any suppliers for pricing on window tinting. instead i looked to corollas which already had window tinting. i found this was easy to picture what my corolla would look like. my corolla has dark paint and i did not want extreme dark window tinting. i do not think it looks very good to have dark on dark. i like seeing light paint with extreme dark window tinting. when i found a corolla on the road with window tinting i liked i asked the driver who did the work for them. i then contacted the supplier to gain more information about their window tinting film. overall i am happy with my window tinting. when i was researching what i wanted to purchase i was wary of window tinting that was greenish. i was sold darkest legal window tint (vic) and the supplier stated it was 25% (% of light that passes through). the supplier reported that the law was changed from 35% to 25% a year ago. i have dark paint and beige interior so the window tinting does not look very dark. on a light paint corolla with dark interior window tinting will look very dark! i understand your front windows must be darkest legal but any rear windows can be window tinted to 5%. i have seen silver paint hatches with 5% on the rear windows and it looks great. the darker you go the harder it is to see at night time and even though you might get used to it, if it is important to have very good vision around you at night i would not go extreme dark. i think you can have your windscreen tinted but the % is so high that it looks clear. i believe window tinting is cosmetic as factory glass already has UV protection. window tinting can actually make your car hotter.
  4. my first post, hello everyone! my corolla is a sedan so it *might* be different to stivo. i put in a new system this year and the speakers in the doors are 6.5" the speakers are easily removed, unlike american corollas which have speakers riveted to the doors. my new head unit is single din therefore i had to install an extra pocket. the pocket is genuine toyota part and cost $18.00. the pocket can only be installed on the bottom thus your head unit on the top. there are gaps along the left and right sides and these are filled with another toyota genuine part which cost $15 per side. if you do not like having 4 parts (head unit, pocket, left side blanking, right side blanking) you should purchase American International stereo installation kit specially order from jb hifi or garys car audio. the part is toy-k960 and this is one piece, matches dash contour and factory textured abs plastic. i think the cost is $40.00. if you need to change the interior bezel behind your side mirrors this cost $22 per side. you might change it to be able to install tweeters (surface/flush install, not hidden).
