  1. whiteline springs catalogue was updated last week. "control" spings (25-40mm lower than standard) are listed for dec 01 onwards zze122 sedan/hatch and the part numbers are 73205 and 73206. when will whiteline have "flatout" (40-50mm lower than standard) for sale? zze122 is ridiculously high up! before this update, whiteline was selling ae112 springs for zze122. springs for these cars now have their own part numbers. could the springs be identical in construction (ae112=zze122) but now with the update whiteline advertise zze122 with its own part numbers to reduce confusion and be seen as having more items in inventory? out of interest is a sedan and hatch very different? should there be springs specific for sedan and springs specific for hatch, instead of 1 set for both models?
  2. illuminati my thinking aswell. rear speakers are for people who sit in the rear of your car but does give the driver an advantage of some fill. you are worried about losing your hearing by the sound system if your other car and will down size your subwoofer because of this problem. why not just turn the volume of your music down or fade the subwoofer?
  3. rollaboy thanks. i think i will have the stock washer nozzles colour coded along with a few other parts.
  4. anything is possible! yes there are constraints so balance your needs. if you want to install splits in the rear of your car, do it. if you want to do something else, do something else. if you want to copy someone, copy someone. if you want to be original, take time out for creative thinking.
  5. are all stivos built and shipped from south africa?
  6. there is an aftermarket part for vtec engines (honda) to let drivers reset vtec from low cam to high cam (2,000-6,700 rpm) by a control switch. if a part like this was available for VVTL-i engines would this be an advantage?
  7. i am glad to hear that it works well. i am interested to find out what do you do for security? how do you prevent theft of double din head units, generally speaking? aftermarket sound systems typically attract theft and damage to doors and consoles
  8. i disagree, you can install splits in the rear of your car. rear speakers are good for people who sit in the rear of your car.
  9. deathzone pictures will be good but the chance to sit in your car and listen to your system would be great!
  10. sharmz i think your post is very good. i do not understand why a person who wants to *upgrade* their system would take short cuts. i do understand $$$ is needed but you have purchased a nice car, please save up and purchase a good sound system to match or just leave it stock. if i wanted to purchase new wheels and tyres for my car, i would save up to purchase the wheels i am happy with along with the right tyres. it does not make sense to me to purchase the wheels but short cut with low grade tyres. i feel many people like to *upgrade* their sound system but do not like spending the $$$ that are needed for a reasonable-good sound system. i think you will quickly get sick of a sound system that is average. save your time and $$$ and leave your sound system stock or save up and purchase a good sound system. please remember besides purchasing head unit and speakers you will need speaker wire and if you want an amplifier and subwoofer you will need power wire and an inline fuse holder. of course if you want to connect your stock head unit to an amplifier you will also need a hi-lo converter/adapter. if your subwoofer is placed in your boot and you wish to have easy access to your spare wheel you might like to add connectors to your wires.
  11. how they look is one thing but how they work is more important to me. i would not purchase a double din head unit for the sake of upgrading from the same size. if i found a double din head unit which meets my needs i would purchase it. i would not purchase a double din head unit just for its looks. most if not all new single din head units let you remove the face when you depart from your car for security. do you do the same thing with double din head units? i would not like to carry around a bulky case!
  12. can you please tell me what coilovers are for? i thought they are primarily used for racing, for quick ride height adjustments. thanks.
  13. that is very very bad service. did you think of phoning a dealer interstate and ask them to supply the parts to you? did you know dealers in vic can supply the item locally within 24 hours? for me i have been waiting on a new window seal for 4 months. if one dealer cannot help you you should try another dealer. some dealers do not even know where to look on their computer for the parts called "blankings". it is found under "stereo" and NOT console air vents!
  14. modellista and trd are the only manufacturers i have heard of that produce mufflers for specially for 2ZZ 1.8 VVTL-i engines. for standard ZZE engines there are dozens of manufacturers from japan and other countries.
  15. i am a new member and i am writing for more information on advertising. i have read the forum terms and conditions and quote a paragraph: "Participants may not use the forum to publish or discuss any information regarding their product or services, or any product or services they are, or have been, associated with. This includes suggesting your own services." my understanding is that members are not permitted to advertise anything they own (second hand or brand new factory goods) but are permitted to trade as middlemen between members (buyers) and vendors. am i right? is it important that commercial gain is 100% vendor and the middleman member that organises the trade for $0.00 ? do i not understand the paragraph?! i respect this forum and i would like more information on advertising (solicitating trade) thank you.
  16. my car is less than 1 year old and has never been in any accidents whatsoever but the hood will be repainted soon under warranty. the hood will be rubbed back, primed and painted. i would like to find out what hood modification you would like to do to your hood if it ever ended up at a panel beaters for work. for example, scoop, air vent, chop washer nozzles.
  17. life is short, do what you like and what feels right B) cars are for driving and if lift is there, use it enjoy driving and make the most of your car
  18. i would leave the stock system as it is, stock. i think the speakers are matched pretty well to the this unit and the whole system is good. the advantage of installing just an aftermarket head unit would be for greater features such as MP3 playback or remote control to name just a few. on the other hand if you want a new system please install at least a new head unit and front speakers with new speaker wire. i found alpine speakers hassle free to install into corolla doors and less expensive to competitors. please try to listen to the speakers you are interested in before purchasing them. i have already stated the size of the speakers in the doors and so did a few other people, the size is 6.5" or 16.5 cm out of interest, who here would (or has) installed splits at the front against a single speaker in the door?
  19. springs and shocks are different parts so i do not think so.
  20. k = x 1,000 10,000k = 10,000,000 could a car ever clock this much? :D
  21. would there be a call back?!
  22. no modification is needed for the toyota genuine parts pocket. yes you can connect an amplifier to a stock head unit by using a hi-lo converter/adapter. hi-lo is built into some amplifiers but if not you can purchase it for approximately $20.00 and it sits behind your head unit. you will also need power wire, inline fuse holder and speaker wire. i think the stock system is loud enough. the only advantage i find in connecting an amplifier to a stock system is to go louder (with stock speakers) or to connect a power hungry item such as a subwoofer. connecting an amplifier you will need to wire your speakers from the amplifier. please remember that the corolla has very cheap speakers which means poor power handling and poor sound quality. if you like very loud music you should do this but you might blow your speakers, lose hearing and get very very sick loud music. your doors and side mirrors are likely to vibrate/rattle a lot with loud music which i find is terrible unless you have high pass filter to remove low frequency to your speakers in your doors.
  23. hi bladehunter you said you get 33% discount but what is the % from? you work for sony yet you are not a huge fan of the company so why purchase their items? i do not think that discount is big and you could purchase from a company you do like. i think discounts are good for people who do not like to haggle. my dealer gave me a customer loyalty card which gives me 7% off retail prices for parts and service. this card is good for people who want a discount just by showing a card but i quickly found out that haggling gets you better prices anywhere! the customer loyalty card was useless to me so i returned it to the dealer. even with the discount i had found other dealers with better prices and these were standard list prices without haggling! therefore anyone can get better prices than LOYAL repeat customers! purchase sony if you like it. please make sure you listen to the speakers before you make your decision to purchase them or not. speakers are for listening and you will have them in your car for a long time. i have speakers in my rear doors but you could do without speakers here. when i was looking at upgrading my stereo i also did not want to replace the factory head unit. i am so happy that i did replace it now! i also thought what would i do with a remote control but i use it all the time. i have heard that hi-lo adapters make a constant hissing noise at high volumes and if this is true then even if you install top of line sony speakers the sound you will receive will be bad. there is little point to install top of line sony items when you short cut with the head unit. you have a nice car and i hope you keep it that way.
  24. my 10k service cost $105.00 in this cost and the only genuine part needed was oil filter for $15.00 look in your corolla service book, there is very little work for a 10k service.
