  1. thanks but my car is stock so it is not exciting, i help work on other peoples cars.
  2. for all current corollas TEIN use 215-40-17
  3. this is what a hatch (levin spec body kit) looks like with those wheels and lowered with TEIN springs.
  4. one more cheap mod is to install mesh in your front air dam. minimise insects and rocks hitting your radiator. i have aluminium mesh size 120 x 20 cm. small diamond profile and large diamond profile. black finish and chrome finish.
  5. after coat of something is not needed because your engine cover is not exposed to weather. the important thing is the right primer. plastic expands when hot and if you do not use the right primer when your engine cover gets hot your paint could crack up. save $ and use no primer (professional would not gaurantee their work). spend $ for the right primer and have an excellent finish engine cover.
  6. paint the engine cover yourself if you like or use a professional spray painter for $50.00 you probably need to spend that much for primers and spray paint when you do it yourself. mechanics like to put their tools on your engine cover when they service your car therefore you will likely gain scratches here unless you tell your mechanic to be careful of your engine cover or just service the car yourself from now on.
  7. looks like sydney will have their car cruise shortly. in a month's time autosalon is on at melbourne exhibition and convention centre. who would be interested in a car cruise from outer suburbs into the city to check out autosalon? i think this would be a good chance to meet each other and see many hot cars at autosalon.
  8. if you want your engine cover painted i think you should get it painted professionally or just leave it plain. most of the time people have their engine cover painted when some other part needs painting too. the engine cover would need the right primer before using regular spray paint for maximum adhesion. here is a cheap mod for you. i have brand new chrome finish and a anodised red finish oil caps for corolla. this cap is found in the engine cover. are you interested in this item?
  9. i think most people use existing positions for the speakers. current corolla interior is nice, make extra holes and positions if you are serious about your sound system, if not i think you should leave it the way it is. save effort by using existing positions. i am pleased to hear that you have decided to change your head unit. it will be great to hear your opinion of the head unit change afterwards.
  10. do not purchase this item! usa and taiwan can interchange exterior parts. australia can interchange exterior parts with south africa and japan. please remember that our corollas have a little raised nose. in australia you should not need to pay more than $180.00 for genuine toyota parts eyelids (left and right) factory painted in japan. there are aftermarket parts and these roughly cost 50% less. of course if you like genuine toyota you will pay more against aftermarket parts.
  11. shocks on NEW cars often leak/fail prematurely. every time your car is serviced the mechanic probabaly checks your shocks for leaks. my shocks were checked in january 04. last week my car was at toyota service department just for a shocks TEST. my shocks are ok. this is now and i know they can leak anytime even with stock suspension as shocks on NEW cars often leak/fail prematurely. if you organise a shocks test for your car and your car is under warranty please do not accept to pay for the test.
  12. if you like buddy club p1 racing wheel you might also like g.max m126. the style is 95% identical. i see a lot of civics on the road with this style of wheel in white finish. g.max origin is taiwan and they oem for major brands like 5zigen and tom's. the structure and finish quality is great. unfortunately most of their wheels are 5 holes and only a couple are 4 holes for corolla. i like the style of roh fury and i see a lot of commodores with this wheel. i believe it looks best with 5 holes as each hole is center in each spoke unlike 4 holes which is off-center. the centre caps of current roh wheels are nice. in melbourne i have seen just one white corolla hatch with roh fury 17" in shadow chrome. this hatch is lowered and has 205-40-17 tyres. roh adrenalin also goes well with corolla hatch. i think these wheels must be seen in person and on a hatch.
  13. have you seen fensport uk turbo charged 4wd runx?
  14. sorry it is not a corolla but it is a turbo charged sportivo http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/ms...?article_id=139
  15. if you have a problem with electronics you should take your car to the service department where a dianostic technician can connect his/her computer to your car. any faults your car has with electronics will be reported on the computer. if the computer reports no faults then it should be a mechanic problem and need inspection by a mechanic. if you are having problems with your car please organise for it to be assessed quickly.
  16. i wish a coupe was for sale. i like the current coupe in uk! but would this ever happen here?! would toyota australia think this is workable for our sales market? what is the break-down of sales young drivers vs. seniors? there must be a lot more seniors to warrant high seats, light steering feel, raised car height and plain old paint colours. the steering wheel is lacking reach adjustment. a very easy upgrade. why do we have length adjustment with seats to cater for people with different length legs but neglect people with different length arms? do we think arms are not important? they only grip the steering wheel which controls the direction of the car. i think the current method of window tinting by sticking film to windows is messy. the factory should apply tinting dyes when constructing the window glass. this is already available in japan and for our market it is available in lexus. greater quality control on gaps/joins with doors from interior and exterior. the tolerance now is too high i have seen too many current corollas built in south africa with big gaps/joins. has anyone seen the sportivo concept car at the motorshow? well done to the secondary school students who helped out!
  17. most weekends you can find car cruises with other car clubs in melbourne from small groups to large groups. apart from driving on the streets some clubs organise dyno testing. you could organise a stivo cruise and you might like to hook up with another car cruise for increased numbers and fun, but i find more numbers increases the chance of a car accident.

    Wheels...

i would make a decision on style and not colour/finish. you can change the finish of your wheels but you cannot change the style. try www.tyres.com to see many different wheels for australian market go to ttf (the tyre factory) in dandenong. i think they have the largest real wheel samples in melbourne. if you like to purchase from a catalogue do so but if you like to purchase from real wheel samples go to ttf. when you are serious about some wheels ask the staff to place the wheels to your car so you can see what it will look like. lowered springs, speedo and tyre sizes has been covered for zze122 and most of this translates to stivo.

    Wheels...

when purchasing a package (wheels and tyres) if a dealer charges extra $$$ for fitting, balancing, alignment and lock nuts I would think twice about purchasing from them. all wheels pretty much cost the same for the same grade from different manufacturers. you will find tyres make a big difference in $$$ and driving.
  20. looks like it was a fair sized dog. would you be interested in a second hand front bumper? there could be someone who has changed their stock front bumper to an aftermarket part.

    Wheels...

stivo pcd is 4 x 100. match this pcd for wheels to go onto stivo hub. for less hassle purchase new wheels with warranty from a reliable dealer. good dealers will place wheels you wish to purchase in front of your car so you can see what it will look like.
  22. yes thank you but my repair is under warranty and upgrading to cf bonnet is $$$

    Wheels...

for zze122 built PRE april 03 the wheels are 185-65-14 for zze122 built AFTER april 03 the wheels are 195-60-15 (unless you received alloys against standard steel) zze122 built in south africa have bridgestone tyres made in south africa zze122 built in japan have dunlop tyres made in japan you can check where a stock zze122 is built by its brand of tyres. i understand road laws permit you to upsize only 2" height and 1" width from your model (not what is the largest size sold by the dealer). to upsize your wheels from 185-65-14 you need 205-40-17 if you want your speedo closest to original. to upsize your wheels from 195-60-15 you need 205-45-17 if you want your speedo closest to original. inflation and wear and tear of your tyres affect diameter and thus your speedo reading. when you upsize please remember to check width and offset. even though road laws permit you to upsize 1" width your insurance company could be different and only permit you to upsize 1/2". zze122 stock width is 6" and offset 45. offset calculator http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html do you want to lower your car with lowered springs? good spring manufacturers will advise what size wheels are best for their parts. for example TEIN s tech springs advise for zze122 17 x 7J +40 215-40-17 if you are unhappy with standard offset of the wheels you are interested in you should ask if the wheel manufacturer will supply custom offset. for zze122 17 x 7J a smaller offset will bring your wheels closer to your guards. the advantage of this is greater car balance and your guards would look more filled. the disadvantage is your tyres could rub your guards because the clearance is now less than before.
  24. smile faces everywhere!!! and how are you going to break-in your engine?
