  1. My last car was a commodore - I'm more than happy with the panel gaps on the Toyota :D
  2. another possibility is that it may have simply been the battery's time. They don't last forever.
  3. sorry to hear about it mate. Bloody can't stand people who don't have respect for other people's property. What sucks is that even if they were court, they'd probably only get a rap on the knuckles through the justice system anyway. And I know it's fustrating when the police take awhile to get there, but keep in mind there might (and often is) only 1 or 2 police cars out patroling in a night, and when you phone through your matter it just goes on a list of jobs they've already got to work through. Blame the government's lack of funding rather than the police themselves.
  4. Welcome to the board. I just made the same change recently myself, haven't regretted it once.
  5. Thanks guys for your replies. My fault though what I meant by in aftermarket was those made as a direct aftermarket replacement, ie the auspack units. I've done a search and it looks like the auspack units seem a bit slow and clumsy - they have the features but aren't overly good with any one feature. I've found several other similar units, some with an 8" screen that look pretty good, but there's not alot written on them. So be specific I'm looking for other direct OEM look units other than the auspack. At the same time I wouldn't mind hearing from anyone whos taken the standard satnav unit and the ipod module and/or line out converter for connecting amps.
  6. Hey guys. My Aurion comes with the factory optioned SatNav unit, looking to upgrade it in the new future so I can plug in my Ipod but I'm not sure which holds better value for money. The other option I'm considering is the aftermarket direct plugin unit that several people have upgraded too. I'm looking for anyone who has experience to help guide me. For starters -Factory Satnav (with IPOD plugin)- Pros Larger screen Ipod combatability (acts as another cd changer disk) Excellent Bluetooth handsfree setup 4 Indash cd changer Quick to startup and get GPS signal Factory look menus etc Cons Difficult to use, mainly the Satellite navigation No RCA outs (plan on adding amps later) Expensive to update maps bright backlight at night CD changer only accepts CDs, which means no mp3 DVD disks (don't really care about movies) No PAUSE or fastforward/rewind of track function -Aftermarket Unit- Pros Ipod Combatability (built in) DVD Player (not really a priority but still might be handy) RCA outputs/inputs Easily updated maps ? ? Cons Slightly smaller screen Unsure GPS connection speed? Startup speed? Bluetooth connection speed and reliability? Ease of use? Backlight? Built in amplifier output (just a temp FYI interest)? Quality? If anyones able to shed some more light on these units, mostly in comparison to the standard unit, it'd be great. I'm looking at a very similar cost between switching to aftermarket or just going IPOD plugin with the standard unit.
  7. gadgetmaster.com.au is where I sourced my previous setup. Price-wise it's between ebay and genuine retailers, but I never had any trouble with mine and being local it arrived quickly and the communication was great. Also a great selection.
  8. would not a good compromise be to get a 4800k kit? it's not pure white, still a slight tinge of yellow. actually doesn't look too bad and imo provides best all round lighting. Had 6000k in my last car, great compared to halogen but I'd be tempted to go the 4800k.
  9. Very good times. Begs the question though as to what else can be done to the Aurion to make it quicker? Any companies making extractors for them? How about adding an LSD to the differential (or is it somehow built into the transmission hence not being viable)? I reckon with intake, full exhaust (including headers), and possibly a LSD to improve launching would see the aurion dip below the 14s.
  10. Spent this long weekend installing the 8" drivers. Result? They'll fit, though to get them under the door trim will require a little bit of adjusting, however they're a let-down compared to the stock speakers due to their lower efficiency - they really need to be fed power from a capable amp to get going. As my system stands just running off the factory unit the standard 6x9s are better suited. That being said, through careful listening I can make out that the 8's are much clearer and punchier. So everything's back to stock until I get enough time to install my amplifiers. Oh well.
  11. somebody scored a bargain alright http://cgi.ebay.com.au/TRD-AURION-FRONT-RE...%3A1|240%3A1318
  12. gave it a try tonight, in S-6 and driving around town it does seem to be alot more responsive ie. kicking down with less throttle. I tend to be too lazy for S usually, but if it stays this good I'll be leaving it there from now on.
  13. Removed the drivers door trim and factory speaker tonight to do a few measurements, looks like my 8" driver will actually fit, quite easily too. Driver depth actually comes out only a little bit deeper than the factory speaker. Will require a custom mounting bracket of course, but that's about it. Driver was used in a previous SQ install. Rare driver in that despite its size (and low down kick) it actually has fairly decent midrange capabilities - once used in an active 2 way system without any dramas. The Aurion just keeps impressing me.
  14. 2007 model, so still under factory warranty. After a long drive last night it doesn't seem to have any of the usual problems others have been reporting either (steering pulling to the left, rattly dash etc), so very good condition. For your SX6, given the ks I would say you could probably get around 24k if you held out privately
  15. Well as an idea, I just paid 26k drive away for my Gold ZR6 with about 62k on the clock, with factory fitted moonroof/sat nav options. Very good condition too. That's from a toyota dealership.
  16. ah cheers. Want to get everything sorted before I drive away with it, otherwise things will become 10 times harder to prove and get rectified. Now I just hope their detail doesn't result in the car being covered in polish swirls like the car they've lent me has.
  17. I should be picking up my Aurion from the dealership tomorrow, but during inspection I noticed both battery terminals had what looked like some kind of blue treatment over them, sorta resembled corrosion in my opinion. Is it likely there's actually a problem or is it something applied from the factory to prevent shorts or something? Sorry no pics, but I'd like to be armed with information before I go in.
  18. Yeah I've checked those threads thoroughly, nothing really to say though just what the dimensions of the door cutout actually is. I checked the mounting depth of my woofers, they're about 93mm.
  19. Hey all. New to the forum, pick up my ZR6 hopefully monday next week. Been reading up on the forums, am I correct in thinking the Aurion has 6x9 speakers all round? I used to have a fairly decent SQ system in my last car, a 97 VT Holden Commodore with a 3-way front system, using an 8" driver for the mid-bass. Very high SQ driver and I'm keen to bring it with me into the Aurion. In the Commodore it require custom pods and modifying the door trims, but as stock they only have a 6" driver in there and the standard door trims weren't even big enough for them. In the Aurion I'd like to mount the 8" drivers underneath the standard door trim grill, how big is the actual mounting hole in the door? I know it must be at least 6" x 9", but is the whole actually bigger than that and the speaker uses a much larger bracket/mount to fill in the gap? I like the bass of the 6x9s, but for SQ they aren't as good as normal round drivers imo - and I find regular 6.5" drivers just don't deliver the low down impact like a decent 8" can. By the way I don't intend on adding a sub at the moment and/or amplifiers. The 8" driver I want to use is very efficient and will work decently off just the factory outputs until I can do the rest of the system.
