we are SO going for another photoshoot Andre... just lemme get my rims fitted and we'll head out the same night!!
did you remove the eyelids?? cant tell from the photos...
-
just to give you a heads up, i did have the same problem when i was rolling on the stock 16inch steel wheels... i posted about it a while back now, but basically it turned out my wheels were buckled... so toyota replaced them under warrenty... made it better but was only completely rid of the problem after going to different rims...
so id be going back to your dealership and getting them to check the wheels out... and be prepared for a fight... toyota dont officially recognise this as a problem, i had to take my case onto the service manager and also the sales manager before anything happened..

lee, that set up makes me all warm and fuzzy inside... :P

ive got mine secured down with velcro in the boot... just need the "non furry" side of the velcro underneath the box, and it grips very well on the boot matt.
amps are located under passenger and driver seats.. :)
Alright I need to see your car's boot Davo! Where and when do you Perth Aurion owners meet up? I was thinking of getting one next year!
Cheers
Davo aka DeafDave76 lol

Lucky you guys had success with velcro. With mine, even with velcro covering most of the underside, it still managed to move and even pull the carpet with it.
ive acctually had to blank off parts of my velcro with electrical tape as it was pretty much impossible to move out of the way with all velcro contacting the matt... the sub box i have also wedges nicely under the frame in the boot so its very secure.

wow the kit totally transformed the car! looks fantastic! are those toyota accessory sideskirts? they look different to the sportivos. i wouldve colour coded the foglight covers and grille too but its looking really good!
wait till you see it with the wheels i am putting on ;)
nah their not genuine side skirts, toyota wanted some crazy price even at trade for original side skirts, so decided to go aftermarket...
i was originally going to colour code the fogs, but changed my mind last min... too much white :P

dosent adding a trd badge automatically increase HP? :P jk
id say do whatever makes YOU feel good. after all it's YOUR car... its just like car waxes, what one person declares as the best shining wax, others may have a different opinion...
good luck :)

did u go 20s or 19s???
am eager to see :)
was gonna changeover to ducktail too, but since u got it ill stick to the spoiler
hey mate,
i rec kon go the ducktail, it looks mint!! plus my front end will probably be a bit different to yours so our cars wont look identical :P
went for 19's in the end.. will post pics of the kit tonight and with wheels later in the week :)

did you get new rims?

I shall spend a bit more and check out one the suggested places above.
Not sure which to try first. Its a 2 years old Aurion in white.
Happy to spend $200 for clay and wax.
Don't know if bluff is worthwhile for a white car.
(Clay is too much work for me. Wax is time consuming but not too bad.)
Also looking at steam cleaning. There are a few spot stains on the cloth seat.
(Armor All is easy to do yourself but I don't see vendor letting you hand pick which item to do. Its usually a package.)
for 200 you could easily buy a clay kit, good wax, and car wash... clay the car while you wash (you will sacrifice your clay bar to a one time use only, but if the car isnt too bad you can easily cut the bar up into thirds) and then apply wax after drying the car... it wouldnt take you much longer than a regular wash and wax...
-
partly my car and partly the missus car...
started a major detail for both our cars..
plans go a bit like this:
hers:
wash, clay, buff with m205, gold class plus, topped with layer of m26.
mine:
wash, buff with m205, autoglym super resin polish, nxt 2.0 (two layers)
will post pics soon :)

team white FTW!
IMO the ducktail spoiler looks hot on the aurions.. sportivos and non sportivos...

i dont understand getting the top wax from megs? i use the normal canaubra wax and after 6 months it still shines like when i first did it. water beading is still the same. obviously swirl marks are apparent but thats what u get for washing it weekly and using it as a daily.
with a white car, you will get away with the 2 in 1 as white isn't as "showy" as the black cars.
i also find that the clay bar after claying it for the first time, isn't really needed. When i clayed my car after the initial 6 months, it didn't have many contaminants. so i might leave it for a full year to see how that goes.
parking it undercover also helps ;)
i can understand that there probably isnt much diff (at first glance) between the deep crystal system and something like the gold class wax.. however i think there is a big difference when you start using products like megs nxt 2.0.. i have found that using the nxt 2.0, the water doesnt so muh "bead up" as just sheet/fall off the surface...
but as with all waxes, its all in the initial prep work :)

Today I finally got around to doing my wheel/tire rotation. The fronts (Yoko S.Drive) are just about on the wear indicators after 30,000km. The rears though (Dunlop Sport Maxx) after 51,000km have about triple the distance till the wear indicators. So the plan is to get the Dunlops worn down till they are on the wear indicators and then change all 4 tires. Hopefully with the Yokos on the rear, by the time the Dunlops are on the indicators, the Yokos should be just ready for a change and no more.
Also, since it's not everyday that I have the wheels off the car, I decided to give them a good (but not great) clean on the inside of the wheel. All I can say is that it's amazing how much cleaner the car looks just by having the inner face of the wheel shiny. The sad thing is that I know it is going to get dirty rather quick and removing the wheels isn't exactly a thing I want to do fortnightly/monthly. What a bummer.
A clean wheel:
Before cleaning:
After cleaning:
Also, I spent ages scrubbing at this one section of the wheel trying to remove some 'dirt' because from arms length, that's what it looked like. After just about giving up, I took a closer look and realised what it was. LOL:
Im sorry, i couldnt see anything past that lovely red caliper... :P
good work on the wheel cleaning thou daryl, looks mint!
and pls let me know how the wheel wax goes... been looking for a good product to use on the wheels.. as im one of those crazies who wouldnt mind removing my wheels every 2 weeks for a good clean :P
(just a tip, if you dont wanna remove them but still want the hard to reach areas to be clean, buy a good long wheelbrush... the meguiars wheel brush is long enough (and flexible) for me to clean the entire wheel inner part without removing from the car... :P sets you back like 15bucks..

just one thing you may want to add to this, is the load ratings required by different aurion models?
ie. ATX = min 95 load rating / sportivo = min 93 load rating
:)
-
So confused..Don't know which wax to get from Meguiars..there are so many versions of wax?
Peter.
by the looks of it, you have a white car... nxt 2.0 tends to bring out the "gloss" in white really well.. as there isnt much depth to be had in white...
ive had good experiences with gold class plus, and also m26, but always find myself going back to nxt 2.0 for its gloss and protection.

one word. daaammmnn! that looks hot mate!
now paint your rear veiw mirror shrouds white, and get a custom leather interior! whooo!
-
going from the stock 16inch dunlop tires onto 215/55r17 potenza re001 i was blown away in all aspects with the bridgestone... quietness, smoothness, grip, wet weather braking. id get them again if they made them in the right load rating for the size im moving up to... :(

Also out of curiosity... what alignment spec you guys are running with the coilover? I didn't ask for a printout (I really should have...) and I just don't feel right with the steering at all.
To compare the before and after, basically the steering felt
- a loooooot lighter
- often wandering
- like it has a bit of delay (play?)
so makes it really hard to go through corner (its like you are oversteer everytime) and even on straight line you have to do quite a lot of corrections. I'm suspecting either there are too much toe out/ negative caster?? So I hope if someone can post up their spec for references...
Thanks
ill post mine later tonight when i get home... are u running any upgraded swaybars/strut bars?
-
whats your decision dave? or is it a secret? :D
secret for now mate :) but you'll see it when you get out for a photoshoot again!
just conflicted as what to do first... wheels or kit... grrrrr
-
yeah the adjustable camber tops arnt 100% needed... but the longer adjuster cables for the rear coils are definately a worthwhile upgrade.
Aurion eyelids photo thread

just a bit of a grave dig here, but has anyone with eyelids ever thought about heating them up slightly to make them fit the curve of the headlight a bit better? previously with a set of eyelids i had a while back i had problems with the end near the parkers lifting even with good double sided tape and pressure applied.. im thinking this time around to heat it up a bit with the heat gun and "mould" it to the shape of the light before painting and fitting...
thoughts?
