  1. I will check out this too then..will have to decide on this or the other one..the ebay one is cheaper but it is a bit longer like you said.. ok until you said something about your foot possibly snapping the port I had thought this sits somewhere in the engine bay and not inside the cabin area..will have to find out where exactly this OBD interface plug is too..so i am guessing it is near the pedals? Sorry im not good in this area :)
  2. Wow after reading about this now I want to get one too :)..i use an android phone so I should be able to use that software too..if not i could try Dashcommand as well..but i want to make sure I get the right OBD tool..can you guys confirm if this is the one that works with the Aurion?http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BLUETOOTH-ODBII-OBD2-SCAN-CODE-CAN-tool-Reader-OBD-2-II-/270755531123?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item3f0a498973#ht_3890wt_1139Cheers :)
  3. if i were you i would leave it badgeless at the front.. trd.. well everyone has their own opinion regarding that so we wont go into that. by the looks of the picture you could do with a remesh for a few reasons 1. to make it darker so you dont see all the radiator etc 2. it seems that the top of the grill is sagging a bit. you can use new mesh to prop the framework of the grill up. i had to do this with my previous sports grill and it worked a treat. looking good thou, will have to get you out for a photoshoot sometime? Thanks Davo :) Yup I will try to double mesh it when I get the chance because I can see the radiator clearly in the daytime more than the mesh itself. As for the colour of the mesh I think I am going to stick with black because I think it goes alright with the other parts of the kit.. The top part of the grill looks like its come down/saggy more because of the bonnet protector in my case..I will see if I can fix that gap up..too lazy actually :P And as for the badge I am thinking of taking off the TRD and go with badgeless..i just put on that badge because i found it lying around :) And photoshoot sounds nice..give me a shout when you guys are meeting up somewhere next :)
  4. I am considering going for a 11x7cm big Toyota emblem chrome badge on the center of the mesh instead of the TRD emblem as well..i guess it will look good..very guilty feeling having that TRD badge lol..any other badge suggestions? Would love it if someone actually had a 'ZR6' badge somewhere..has anyone come across one?
  5. Just got my grill yesterday and put it on :)..installation was easy.. Thanks for the installation pics..that really helped a lot otherwise i would have snapped off the original grill :P...ok before everyone gets upset seeing the TRD badge on a non-TRD Aurion, i put that on because it looks so empty to leave it just with the black mesh..it has a complete feel when there is a badge since the Toyota badge isnt there..and i couldnt find any other badge that goes well with this face ;)..since i got the mesh already sent black i dont think i have to go with any painting option i was thinking of..
  6. Thanks mate I will look up on that when I get home and see what these guys have done :)
  7. I use 6000K 35W HIDs on my car and in these rainy days i find them doing pretty good..i used to have 8000K ones and that i can tell you makes no sense in the rain..and i dont find a great visual difference between 5000 and 6000 so went for 6000...ofcourse the 4300 ones will look better in the rain but thats going back to like having halogens when it comes to colour..if you look carefully even the halogens arent great in heavy rain either..its just that u see that yellow colour a bit more clearly than the white light hitting water :)
  8. Just browse through those links posted above by Daryl and you will get an idea of what everyone has done..there are plenty of pictures mate
  9. Glad to see you got the oil line replaced and cleaned up by Toyota. This is something I need to check up on too..because I am not sure if the Toyota dealer I picked the car up from did this for me or not. Is there an easy way to find out that they have done this recall on my car? Like any visual tags? I am tempted to go to Toyota sometime and have them check it if its something I cant identify..just to be on the safe side..
  10. Sorry to hear that mate..thats the fear i have too..so when you say knock them out softly..we talking knock them towards the car after having the screws and clips removed from the top right?
  11. I had ordered mine from Rstyle too 1 and half weeks ago..apparently still on the way..cant wait..so it took you 2 weeks..atleast now I know thats the estimated time :)..with the installation of this grill, i have seen the pictures but have a doubt about the hooks on the bottom of the grill..are they going to be hard to pull out or will they just slide out without us having to go under the bumper and stuff? Let me know how you go :)
  12. Thats a nice write up Metal..I got very lazy with my ballasts and just used double sides..but I have to try doing what DJ did like hiding it under the side plastic bit..never thought of that :)
  13. Elegant ride you got there..enjoy the drive :)
  14. Im sorry to hear that mate..any chances of warranty left on your car? i havent heard of anyone having their aircon dying out on an 06' Aurion..hope its not a costly repair..the last time i had my air con lights blinking for few seconds was when i kind of surged the terminals of the battery while doing my HID kit installation..but it resumed to work after i had turned off the car and started again...
  15. thanks mate..i think i could try one of those methods..but first i will install the mesh as it is and see how the car looks like with the white mesh..could see how it goes with the white body colour..will put up some pics here and you guys can tell me what you think too :)
  16. Hey Jin first of all thanks for the write up on how to install the grill..i have ordered one of these grills and I am pretty sure it is going to come with a white mesh just like yours..since i got a white car i think i will have to paint just the mesh black and leave the frame same because it matches the other parts of the bodykit..ok now i am going to sound like a noob but i wanted to ask what did you use to spray the mesh? i am guessing it is a black spray paint can from bunnings? if so do u remember any particular type i should be looking for or just anything works? Cheers buddy :)
  17. I had a look at this bodykit.com.au website but no luck with sports grilles for the Aurion..just full body kits and other stuff..you mean i have to contact Paul directly and ask him about it?
  18. Patience young padawan, most people on here have probably been at work since the time you asked this morning and haven't even read this thread yet. I haven't dealt with them myself, but it has been mentioned previously they can be hard to get a hold of sometimes especially if you ask in English. I find that price quoted on Ebay inc postage to be very good for one of these grills and I would suggest you go through there as Ebay is a tried and proven method. I know there is a seller here in Brisbane who sells that grill, but they're around the $150 mark before postage is included so I would jump at that ebay auction if I were you. Thanks Steven :)..and sorry i am really impatient when it comes to things like this..i was like refreshing the thread page probably 50 times this morning in hope to see someone writing something..yeah I think I am going to go with the ebay seller as well..i think that grille is the same one and for that price it isnt bad..so their 2007 camry is our Aurion..interesting..and i am a young padawan haha :P
  19. Ok I think since i am not getting a reply from any of you guys I will go directly with the Thailand shop..but is it possible someone tell me how much did the Thailand shop quote you for shipping to australia? the fastest method on their site that is..So I have a rough idea before I hit the submit button..thanks..
  20. The rides looking awesome with the sports grille guys..i am definitely getting one for mine..feel left out without one :) I have found this ebay seller who is also from Thailand (possibly same seller) selling the sports grille..can you guys have a look at this and tell me if this is the same one and also could you tell me whats the postage quote you got from the Thailand shop when you bought your grille? I know it is $50 for just the grille itself but they have mentioned to contact them for postage price..i did contact them and no reply so far..but the ebay seller has all mentioned..and its coming to about $100 including postage. Did you guys spend the same amount or less? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320406851072&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3487wt_828
  21. Just a note here, you should not start your engine with your HID's on. You should only turn your HID's on AFTER the engine has started. This is why I don't use the Auto headlights. This is one surefire way to kill your HID's much quicker than normal (moreso the aftermarket kits). Ever wonder why your radio cuts out when you start your engine? This is because the starter motor pulls a large amount of current, and any accessory device is going to suffer from this. So when you start your engine, you are 'pulling' power away from the HID ballasts and they are trying to regulate the voltage to the lamps, but can't do so properly. It puts stress on the ballasts and lamps. First of all my apologies for missing out the stuff you written about keeping the auto mode switched off while starting and what are its affects. I did read through but missed this one somehow. I do know that when any car starts the lamps, and anything on accessory gets low power as the starter takes all that. I was just curious to find out if anyone tried a relay harness that helped in keeping the power constant to the ballasts while the engine is starting? And yeah i have turned off auto lights now and the kit is working all good. I would only auto again with a relay harness to see if that helps..why im so behind the auto switch is because i have got into the habit of starting the car with the lights coming on automatically in the night instead of me flicking the switch always (have become lazy ever since i moved from my Camry). Steven's idea is not bad at all and quite interesting to see if you could get that to work someday. For now will stick to this setup and see how I go. Wouldnt want to damage the ballasts or lamps - auto lights off! :)
  22. if thats the case i think im gonna try a relay harness i possibly might have somewhere and see if that helps..otherwise will have to stick to using the on and off switch for headlights instead of leaving it on auto mode..
  23. I installed the HID kit on my car and it works good..the only problem is if i leave the light switch to 'Auto' mode and start the car in the night, one of the HIDs dont light up..and then i have to turn off and on the light switch after which both works..and im not using a relay harness..and since the car works on button start i really am lazy to turn the lights on and off manually..has this happened to anyone else? If you keep the lights switched off while starting and then turn it on it works fine..leaving lights on starting time brings the problem..otherwise its good..
  24. No. Not required as the stock wiring is more than sufficient to handle a 35 watt HID kit. Others may try to convince you otherwise, but trust me, you don't need it. Thanks for the quick reply mate..so i am good to go get a HID kit now and not worry about a relay harness :)
  25. Hey guys i got a question..does the HID kit we buy have to be a Canbus compliant system? I am not sure if the Aurions need that kind of compatibility? Also is it necessary to run an additional wiring harness from the car battery to the ballasts or just plug the ballasts into the original wiring and run it off those? Because i have been told for H11 type its not really required to have a wiring harness? Although I did put one for my 02' Camry I had as it was running H4...let me know what you think guys :)
