  1. The advantages of having stock exhausts :) I have experienced the similar situation where the cops don't notice the car on full throttle... The good thing about this exhaust I see is it is not that loud which is really nice but must have to check it out..hopefully I get a chance to unbolt the rears and testing the sound before removing the mufflers..cant wait :) @ Defyant - if you get it done before me, I want a video clip ;)
  2. I think hotdogs usually bring out a lot of sound compared to straight throughs but looking at this video I am surprised how quiet this car is without any mufflers which is interesting. I am thinking of unbolting the rear pipes and checking out the sound myself before I delete the mufflers..i dont like to much noise so hopefully it sounds like the Aurion on this video :)
  3. @ Defyant - surprisingly it isn't that loud according to this video i've seen on YouTube. Its got the perfect growl that isnt to loud out of the Aurion engine :-) I think this ride is in the club too - Love the sound and can't wait to get it done hopefully in a few days :-)
  4. Thanks mate..I think I will go ahead and get it done then..anyone in Perth with an Aurion done a similar setup? Would love to see or hear one :)
  5. Hi Everyone, I tried looking around for info about this specific exhaust setup but couldnt find anything so I thought I write. I have seen videos of an Aurion which had its last rear mufflers removed and straight through pipes fitted to the end which really did give some decent note. My question is with this kind of setup where the air flow is definitely going to be more, will the car's acceleration decrease by any amount? I am not after any gains in performance just the sound is enough so my only concern is would I loose any power?
  6. Thank you for that Lasertip..i would have put pics but unfortunately my ride is not with me for the next two days as its getting the front end painted. I had a silly scratch done to it few weeks back..and yes i agree there is a very slight hardly noticeable scatter but nothing like that picture two :)
  7. Well to be honest I am not riding high about this whole HID thing. In fact I have seen real original HID projector lenses that do even better cut off lines than the first pic. What I was trying to tell is my output is just similar to that first one in the sense that I havent noticed that big scatter in middle like projection you see on the second picture below.
  8. So the Aurion has a sharp beam pattern which is lower on the left then on the right with no focus in the middle...that's strange, don't know how the original halogens were focused then as there wouldn't be enough light to light up the whole area like a normal HID? Do you mind taking a picture of your beam cut off against a wall like the ones show in the pictures? That blue/purple tinge at the top is normal for all cars with HID bulbs (factory and retrofitted). It's the second picture I was talking about where the lens is aimed in the middle and light scatters upwards a bit. Now I know what scatter you are talking about. As far as I remember mine is not aimed at the middle which is causing that kind of scatter like the one on second picture. I will see if I got pics of my beam already somewhere if not I will take one and post it up here mate. So Camrys in India come with factory HIDs i didnt know that. Camrys are loved around the world because its a nice ride :)
  9. and TBH i like that slight purple/blueish small scatter you get with the lens..its got a nice effect when going against other cars and walls :). Its small scatter that looks good. Unlike the scatter you get from HIDs on non projector setups
  10. Well my car's output exactly looks like your first picture..when you said scatter i thought you are talking about a lot scatter like halogens. Well i hardly notice a scatter of that level so its almost like no scatter for me :). Yup with the 4x4s and bigger vehicles its very easy to get blinded. I think the original HID setups on 4x4s have their lenses pointing way down to avoid this problem.
  11. i am a bit confused from what you are saying. In my case when I had H11 halogens on my projector lenses I had a nice cut off which is what you usually get on the aurions with halogen bulbs. And once i installed the HID bulbs its pretty much the same cut off heights only much brighter and more distinct than before. With HIDs I can now see the light spread in a perfect height and does that nice triangle like formation to spread the light on the left and right sides which maintaining the height. When you say top chopped off you mean the beam is only about the height of a person's knee right? well thats right. Is your camry factory fitted with HIDs? And I am not sure if if the Lexus is got different lenses.
  12. I get a very sharp cut off with my projector lens and there is zero scattering of light. The only difference is i dont have automatic levelling on mine. I dont see a difference between the HID level and cut off when compared to the Presara which originally comes with HIDs. Looks like Toyota uses the same lens on both.
  13. The only modification to my car is the 6000K 35w HIDs. I am not trying to prove anyone wrong or something but all i got to say is i have had HIDs on my 2002 Camry and now on this Aurion and I find the hids put on properly adjusted projector lenses just doesnt harm oncoming traffic as much as even the standard halogens do..i get blinded by halogen lights most of the time because the light beam is always flooding...People are just in the impression when they see HIDs its the worst thing ever. HIDs on normal reflectors is a mess and I agree because I used to have it that way but on projection lenses its perfect. Aurions especially have some of the smallest projection lenses i have seen on cars and its vitually just two dots in the dark you see when you are oncoming towards it. Definitely not the same as what you experience when you are facing a car with HIDs on normal reflectors. Even with automatic levelling its impossible to stop every bit of the glare you get from oncoming cars due to the uneven level on roads. I see it everyday.
  14. If you really think this method is so great, I'd like you to try that while doing a 1/4 mile pass and then do another one while leaving your foot down and letting the transmission do the shifting for you. Sometimes people tend to think that doing something differently to how it was designed will provide benefits. Just because it may feel like you are getting some extra response out of it doesn't necessarily translate to it actually benefiting you. I never said shifting this way is 'faster' than keeping the foot down all the time..dont get me wrong here..its just a different feel thats all..for us people who are not doing 1/4 mile runs everyday its a nice feeling than waiting till the gear eventually changes..ofcourse releasing the accelerator pedal decreases the acceleration..so on a normal day when im not dragging against someone, i prefer to do the accelerator release shift method because that gives me a better feeling than falling asleep while waiting for the car to change the gear in S mode :)
  15. This is exactly how i shift when in S mode..its got excellent response when you do it this way..just like a manual..because in a real manual you would lift your foot from the accelerator, clutch, shift and foot down on the gas which is exactly how you should do it on the Aurion and it works because it just shifts without a lag and you get that manual car effect! :) I drive more in S mode than D now..i think my car will forget how to work on D with time lol if you guys are expecting instant shifts you are expecting to much from the Aurion..that kind of shifting is achieved in German gearboxes like the DSG ones..
  16. Thanks for that info mate :)..In that case its not a worry to leave it on while parked. Its not like I will leave it on forever just maybe a day or two as I dont use it always..the full version of Torque is working on android so I am happy and one day will try out Dashcommand from the laptop..
  17. Hey guys I just got the ELM327 OBD II bluetooth device few days back and it is working :).. My first question is, will be alright if I left the device plugged in when the car is not in use like overnight? I ask this because when i have disconnected from it or turn off the ignition I find that one of the LEDs on it is running at a very faint brightness so makes me think if it would affect the battery? Or is it alright? Second question is, I am using my android device to connect and find that only the application 'Torque' is able to connect and read from the OBD device but the 'DashCommand' software for the android is not able to establish the OBD II protocol. Has anyone of you come across this?
  18. Nice to see another Aurion owner..welcome :)
  19. nup wasnt me. i was a good boy and stayed in last night.. user "whitezr6" has the same wheels i have...so our cars look identical minus the spoilers and a few small items... my car has the ducktail spoiler, painted white front lip, lexus grille painted black, and black toyota emblem.. so few minor differences... Sorry mate my bad hehe..the rims in your cars are similar so thats what tricked me. And i cant seem to find any sort of pics on whitezr6's profile so it led me to yours. Btw i need to get one of those dark toyota emblems too :)
  20. I think I have spotted -DAvo last night driving along albany highway towards the city around 7pm? What I noticed is you have debagded all the badges and have put the spoiler back on? I am not sure because your signature pics have the same car but minus the spoiler :)..i think you spotted me as well..we are kinda driving close by..we got the same grill and xenons i believe :)
  21. Thanks for your reply. The car is being checked by Toyota dealers. It passed all the electrical tests, he said it might be the petrol station where i filled in the last time. But it has been doing this since I bought the car. It just got worse and worse. They are going to fill her up with 98 octane and see how that works. I just don't understand how they cannot pin point the fault, the problem these days is they all depend on their computers to tell them where the fault is. The problem with that is sensors can pass their computer diagnoses tests marginally and register a pass but if that sensor is exposed to extreme conditions it could fail, their diagnoses tests don't allow for that. So Toyota itself is having issues trying to diagnose the problem. I cant figure out what this could be. From the looks of it fuel delivery to the engine is whats going on my mind. Something bad must have got mixed for this to happen. But like you said they have run all their tests so its something out of the box.
  22. First of all sorry to hear about you having to go to the mechanics repeatedly to get the problem fixed. I drive a 08' Aurion and 90% of the time i fill her up with 95 octane Caltex fuel. I dont think there is a problem with the fuel at all. I bet its those mechanics who cannot properly diagnose the problem and doing all guess work wasting your time and probably making it worse for the car. I suggest you get it properly checked by a Toyota dealer. But look around the forum if you could find this issue addressed in the FAQ section. Hopefully some of the members here would be able to give you more help regarding this issue. Have you got the battery fully tested as well? Battery terminals?
  23. This reply just made my day..thank you :)
  24. I am positive the Dashcommand software works with Bluetooth as they have mentioned the compatible device is a bluetooth ELM device just like the ebay one. But there is also another software called Torque for Android devices that definitely works with bluetooth from the videos I have seen. With the size difference between this OBD device the double prized same functioning device is just millimetres guys. And I dont find the spot an obstruction to daily driving unless you are someone who have their seat so close to the wheel that your knees touch the steering wheel lol. I am going to keep it plugged in when i get it..only thing i would do is put a tape over those 4 bright LEDs that go like crazy when it is working ;) And this particular one on ebay does come with its own software, but as to how many other bluetooth software is out there we have to find out :)
  25. Cheers mate..now its easy to find that :)..and i believe it actually sticks out of the trim so there is no need to go under the trim to find the connector...
