  1. The HIGH, MED, or LOW is for how loud you would like the stereo when you come up in speed. have someone switch between the 3 when you are driving above 80kmph, and you can def notice the difference! good luck!
  2. i've got the satnav unit, and its also got the ASL in it! like the guys said above, if its on (HIGH MED or LOW) the volume will increase as the speed increases. you can start to hear the difference above 60kmph, then at 80kmph, and above, IF your audio is turned up far enough. i find that a good volume to test it on is about 7 or 8 and as you increase speed you'll hear it increase in volume. i think the whole idea of it is so that if you got kids, grannies etc in the car and you pull up to a lights or something after coming from a high speed, you don't deafen them! if you don't however, just turn the ASL off.
  3. and here i was thinking i was just being pedantic about the gear changes!!! is it the transmission itself thats also responsible for the lag between shifts? cause mine takes FOREVER to change gears when it gets up around 5000-6000 revs. only reason is that when i took it down the quarter , i feel like i can get a lot quicker if the gear changes were a bit quicker. A friend of mine has an FPV-GT and his changes gears almost as if he's driving a manual, its that responsive. am i just crazy or does everyone else here experience the same 'lag' i do? i should be receiving my CAI sometime this week, so i'll be disconnecting the battery as part of the install. since it'll be disconnected for more than half an hour (i'm not that good installing stuff!) i'll look at how she responds to that after the ECU reset! hope it works!
  4. cool man, can't wait to see the rest! all you guys got me thinkin i might do mine!!!
  5. It was open 95% of the time, and when closed... I could have easily have gone with it open. For the price I payed for it, I could have got more done to the exhaust. Therefore, when it comes to the TRD, I'm putting the money where it belongs. thats exactly what the guy at my exhaust place told me, if i'm gonna be driving it for 95% of the time, might as well put all that money to some high-flow mufflers, and some good stainless piping, rather than waste money on restricting the flow with the variable muffler.
  6. nice work Paradigm, but how'd you do around the stereo? i'm still deciding wheather to cover the entire top portion, ie surrounding the satnav unit, and the A/C controls? some pics would help...
  7. DooD! saw the article on your old Aurion, so sorry about what happened to your car, man that thing was awesome! but like everyone else said, its better the car than you or your dad. and about the varex, yeh i agree not to get one, after speaking to some really cool guys in perth about the varex, they rekon its a waste of time, because if you want the good performance that comes with an exhaust mod, you shouldn't restrict it by putting one of those mufflers! good luck with your new car, it'll be awesome, i know it!!
  8. Once I get the TRD, everything is going to be done RIGHT. I'll be getting CES and CES only to work on the intake and exhaust. :D u getting a TRD??? i'm so jealous! trading in the old one i take it?
  9. very nice, very nice!! (borat voice!) :D trust me you won't be disappointed, and you got the towbar as well! always a bonus, comes in handy when towing your buddies home in their lancers! haha! p.s. the tail-lights look awesome on that colour!
  10. what i do is on cold nights, turn on the aircon and set the unit to the windscreen de-mister, and raise the temp up to about 26-27. this usually clears the fog, and still keeps you warm!! :D
  11. thanks heaps for that, i'll keep you guys posted on the dyno runs when they're done!!
  12. nice one doode! my missus has one, and she is wrapped with it! her's is black too, i think she only bought it cause she doesn't need to take her keys out of her handbag to get into the car, and to start it! haha!
  13. You mean the intake hose or the PCV hose (the one at the top of the hose just before the throttle body)? Either way, there shouldn't really be a need to clean it since it isn't really going to help anything, but if you want to do so... definitely don't use WD-40. That will make things worse. Just use some throttle body and carby cleaner. yeh, just the hose that goes to the throttle body, and the sensor itself. i've been going through this thread and early on, there was mention of it getting contaminated with the oil from the filter (i'm assuming its the same re-usable filter that you can clean and re-use and re-oil?). have you had any issues with oil build-up in the intake darryl? also, could you also please send a photo of your completed K&N filter? cause mine arrives in a few days and i just wanna make sure its assembled correctly, despite it coming with instructions! and for the rest of you guys, i'm putting my car on the dyno tomorrow arvo, BEFORE the CAI goes on, just to settle the "horsepower gain" issue, and i'll have it dyno-ed after as well!
  14. Hey guys, might be a silly question, but how would you clean the inside of the hose where the MAF sensor is? due to build up etc? just some crc? or wd-40 or degreaser or something? cheers! Yoz!
  15. Hi mate and welcome! 1). Rattles in the dash / console - I haven't had any of these in my '08 model, mine id fairly quiet on the road (except for the loud stereo! :D ) 2). Transmission gear changes - The only transmission issue i had was the "clunk!" early in the morning, shortly after the first gear change, but the guys in this forum put it down to the ABS self-check, so i guess no transmission problems for me! The only thing i notice is that at high revs, around near 5000rpm, it takes a while to change gears when in "S" mode, and is not as responsive as say the new FPV GT. but aside from that, all is good! 1). Prodigy has leather and the Sportivo cloth...I have never had leather seats before now, and as we have a 5yo, I'm curious as to how robust the leather seats in the Aurion are ? - I have leather in mine, (although it doesn't smell like leather <_< - maybe something for a new thread?) and i got toyota to put that treatment on it, and its been fine so far. unfortunatly i don't have kids, so as far as how it would fair against kids, can't help sorry mate! 2). Does the firmer suspension of the Sportivo get anoying eventually, I tested one and it did seem a fair bit firmer than the Prodigy. 3). What eceonomy figures should I expect with easy driving around regional areas ? - I seem to be getting over 600kms to a tank of petrol, and thats driving with a mix of styles, flooring it here and there, and just normal round town driving, and i was really impressed with the economy! Hope its all a big help, and good luck with the decision! personally, i'm in love with it, and am really happy with my purchase!
  16. thanks steven, yep, mine is now on the way!! would be interesting to see some of your pics when you get it done!!
  17. I notice this sound as well. but for me it only happens after i start my car in the morning, reverse out of the driveway and start driving down the road. relatively slowly, i'm talking about 10-15kmph and before it changes into second gear i hear that "clunk!" noise. but its only in the morning, not during the day when i'm at work or anything...
  18. Well today I masked up the pieces after making sure the surfaces were now perfect, set up my gun and off I went. The result? A meter of that carbon fibre stuff now ordered off Ebay. whats the name of the item from ebay? can't seem to find it :-(
  19. Hello all! AGE: 25 SEX: Male STATUS: Taken REASON FOR BUYING: My old BT-50 was costing me too much money through novated lease, so i decided to get out of that and wanted something a bit economical, and with some power. i opted for the 380 but apparantly it has the WORST safety rating out of the 6's on the market (coming from my dad, an ex Mitsubishi, Service Manager) so he suggested the Aurion, and i didn't know it was a V6, thought it was a 4 banger, so i test drove one, and liked what i drove. didn't want a ford or holden, dad recommended this car, cause he's also been a Toyota Service Manager!
  20. Is that on the fresh setting or recirculate or both ? i've always found that when using the A/C, recirc is the best way to give you maximum coldness. however don't leave it on recirc too long on long trips, CO2 is not that good for the brain, tires you out a bit, and thats dangerous. every now and then i switch between fresh and recirc, and no worries about falling asleep at the wheel! hope that helps!
  21. what amazes me is that my 2008 model car has no way of connecting a mp3 player device to the factory GPS nav unit i got. i know some guys have upgraded their HU to suit, but after spending $45K on a car, it'd be nice to connect my ipod, and not have to go back to listening to cd's, not in this day and age! i tried the fm transmitter, but the clarity was shockingly poor :(
  22. Hi there, I just had all the speakers upgraded, and installed twin subs in the boot. the guys at alberts car stereo helped me out by using a HILO converter, which essentially takes your existing signal from you factory head unit (mine is the GPS unit, 4 disc stacker with NO iPod integration Grr!) , and converts them to RCA for amplification, subs included. i wasn't happy with the quality of the audio coming from the HILO converter (i think a Stinger/DNA product) so i spent another $400 and upgraded to a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.1 This unit blew the other unit away, as it upgrades your factory signals, to give 6V pre-outs as opposed to the 3V pre-outs that the HILO converter does. the difference is absolutely amazing!! more information can be found by googling Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.1 there are two models of this product, the other is the 3Sixty.2 The difference is that the 3Sixty.2 has a 32 band equalizer as opposed to the 16 band eq on the 3Sixty.1 and the 3Sixty.2 has a time correction function that the 3Sixty.1 doesn't. I spent much time tossing and turning between the two, and the team at Alberts and i came to the conclusion that i didn't need the time correction, or that big a band of EQ for what i was wanting from the system. So, IMO, don't go for the $150 HILO converter, spend the extra bucks, and go with the RF 3Sixty.1 It also has a Bluetooth interface, which allows you to directly connect to the unit using a computer, or suitable PDA and make adjustmnents to your EQ. its awesome! also comes with a remote bass level adjuster, that doubles as your auxillary input volume control for an ipod or mp3 player, perfect for the unit that i have, not having an aux input/ipod function. and if some of you are wondering, no i don't sell this item, i just sampled what there is out there and went with the best, and was very impressed with the quality of audio now coming from the RF product. now i know why they are the leaders in car audio technology! good luck!
