  1. But this happened driving home from the buying the car. It hasn't even been 24 hours yet.
  2. Hi all, Need this question kinda answered urgently. A friend bought a car "privately" that turned out to have gear problems, and needs some advice. Here's the story - They've test drove the car a week ago and everything worked just fine. The car passed the road worthy checks. Bought the car today and after a bit of normal driving they found that they can't even shift it to reverse and when shifting to 4th, it pops out when the clutch is released. They've signed the transfer papers but have not handed it in to VIC roads. They've paid by cheque so it wont clear for 3 working days. The question is - do they have the right to cancel the cheque and not hand in the transfer papers without any repercussions? Don't really care if they loose the deposite. This would not have passed the road worthy checks. Thanks.
  3. Hi guys, Yes, got mine from Marcus. It was $269AUS delivered from HK. AND if you think the shortshifter is quick, you should check out the delivery..... Delivery only took 4 days to when it was processed all the way from HK. Very happy with it.
  4. Corolla TRD Short Shifter Installation 1. Pull out the ashtray and unscrew the gear knob: 2. Pull out the gear panel and unplug the cigarette lighter or start button. 3. Unscrew the 2 screws circled in RED. 4. Unscrew the 2 screws in the center console. 5. Pull out the panel under the hand break. You’ll need this pulled out so you have enough room for the hand break to take out the whole center console. 6. This is what it looks like without the center console. 7. Pull out the pin from the selecter cable. Note how this pin is placed. 8. Pull out the selecter cable. 9. This is a bit tricky if you have thick fingers. You need to push out both sides of the pin and then push down to release the shift cable. 10. Behind both selecter cables there’s a knob that you have to twist all the way to the left to release it from the shift assembly. 11. Side by side comparison of the stock (left) and the TRD SS (right). 12. Unscrew the 4 screws from the shifter assembly THEN turn it on it’s side and take out the cables that’s attached to the right side of the shifter assembly. You can’t just pull them off. You’ll need a small screwdriver and push the pins from the bottom in before pulling them off. 13. Install the TRD SS and remember how to put everything back. Should take about 45mins to an 1 hour to install. If you want you can spray some Lithium Grease on the ball joints. It’s about $6.20 from Bunnings. It comes in a spray can. 14. The final product. This is what it looks like with the TRD gear knob installed. 15. This is what it looks like with your original gear knob installed. I’ll let you decide which one looks better.
  5. Sorry to do this to your guys, but I have to pull out of this GB. :( Been doing some thinking and reading and for that price of $170AU is just the TWM SS without the bushings. Add this and the price is about $210AU. If you look at the TRD SS, it comes with the full shifter assembly. It might not be as short as the TWM one(interms of height not throw), but it is a TRD brand AND also I found one going for $269AUS delivered on a forum brand new. $50AU more than the TWM and you get the full shifter assembly and a TRD gear knob. If you guys still wanna get the TWM SS and have the 5 ppl for this GB, I'm willing to help you guys sort it out. Btw, they still haven't replied back to my email regarding the price of the bushings.... Here's a link to some good reading: ShortShifter Once again guys, sorry for backing out of this GB. Cheers.
  6. List is up on the first post. Still waiting for their response on the price of the bushings.
  7. On the web site its $39.90USD. I'll ask and see how much they are with the group buy. I'll put a list up on the first post of ppl that have expressed their interest. PM me if you want to be on or off the list. Thanks.
  8. Hey guys, That only makes 3 of us. We need 5 for them to sell it at that price. Anyway I wont be able to get it till mid July or mid August - - servicing, rego... and you know the rest... But if we do get 5 and you guys really can't wait till then; then I think I'd better come up with the money hey OK for those interstate ppl --> I went to AUS Post web site and found for a Regular Parcel: up to 5kgs - Melb to WA about $20 extra up to 5kgs - Melb to Syd about $12 extra Add an extra $2.60 for registered post if you want. Melb post code to where it will be posted will be 3151. Hopefully this thing doesn't weigh more than 5kgs.
  9. Hi all, Here's the email I received from them: There are several different shipping options to Australia. TWM Performance has calculated the following prices based on the quantity of 5 shifters. Your shipping options are as follows: Canada Post International Ground (4-5 weeks delivery) for $75.00 USD Express Post Air International (1-2 week delivery) for $130.00 USD UPS Worldwide Express (7 business days) for $222.00 USD These shipping options are not available through our website. Our on line shopping cart has several limitation hence you would need to contact us directly to process this order. If you are looking at buying 5 short shifters as a group buy then I would be able to offer you the 2003 Toyota Corolla’s for $130.00 USD. When organizing a group buy we ask that there is a minimum of 10 short shifters for a 10% discount. Seeing as that the shipping is very expensive to Australia we will allow the group buys to be lower. The answer to your question is yes the $75.00 USD is for 5 shifters shipped to Australia. Please note that for this price of shipping the time delay is 5 weeks. IF you are not prepared to wait the 5 weeks you have the other two options available. These were all calculated based on the 5 units. So if we choose the $75USD shpping price it'll be $15USD each for shipping. That means $130 + $15 = $145USD. That's around $178AU delivered. Cheers.
  10. Hi all, Anyone interested in a group buy for a TWM Performance ShortShifter? TWM ShortShifter Website We'll need at least 5 ppl to get it cheaper. Again sorry this is for Melb only - due to shipping prices. Will have more info on the prices as soon as they reply back. (That's if anyone's interested) Thanks. Here's the list so far: Me (Melb) JIN (Melb) $ANGELO$ (WA) B rad (Syd)
  11. So has anyone bought this yet and installed it. I wanna see some pics. Pleaseeeee :)
  12. Yeap, bought the same one a while ago for my 03 Conquest Hatch. One thing I can say - - save your money and buy a brand name. It's just decoration on my engin now. :P
  13. I'm interested for a prefacelift hatch.
  14. Thanks to all that replied and pm'd. You all were a great help. Always hate getting a new phone that doesn't have any games on them. Thanks again all.
  15. Hi all, As the title says. Does any1 know where I can download these free java (.jar) games from (that actually work). I've manage to download one rally game and that's all. Thanks all.
  16. You're not wrong there Danz. :D It really does make it more fun to start your drive with. :D Got my Engine Start Button all wired up on the weekend. Good idea having the source tapped to the hand-brake. This way nothing happens when your passengers presses the button when the car is going... Also managed to disable the starter from the key, so now you can't start the car unless you press the start button. Oh yeah, and make sure the hand-brake is up too.
  17. Thanks for all the reply. Been a great help. Will see if I can disable the third click of the key and find a power source that only turns on when the key is in the "ON" position and not on the "ACC" position on the weekend. All for the BLING factor :)
  18. Hi all, Just after anyone who's done a diy engine start button before on their rolla. I know off a couple of ppl here who's got one, but had an electrician fit it. I fitted one on last night. Took me about 45mins to do. And now I find it even more fun driving the rolla. How it works - Get in the car, turn the key twice, press the button and off you go.... :D Basically it's hooked up the cigarette lighter for the power source - what I kinda wanna know is that - is there another power source I can tap into that turns on when the key is turned twice. Currently the cigarette lighter turns on when the key is turned only once. Thanks all.
  19. I'm paying $764 (or $68.66 per month) with AAMI rating 1 with a sports muffler and short ram intake (which I just took off). :( And I have a 2003 Conquest Hatch. Budget Direct wont insure my car cause of the SRI with the sports muffler. GIO was $862.86 (without mods) before I changed. RACV quoted me $973.89 (without mods). Just Cars quoted me $728 with my mods but has no monthly repayments.
  20. Hi all, Just did a throttel by-pass and installed a SRI :D and now I've notice that my heater isn't working as hot anymore. Need help on what and where to check to solve this probelm cause of the cold morning starts and I found it hard to shift gears when I'm shivering this morning :( :( Thanks all. Rainman.
  21. Here's a link to their site: http://www.jaycar.com.au/stores.asp
  22. This one would be cheaper. Only AU$44.35 not including postage. But I don't think it's long enough to reach the front fog light...
  23. Yeap got a S10. The only thing with this is that it had to be fitted on a slight angle. Had it for over 6months now and it still sounds the same. Great little tone on idle, but it just gets a bit more louder over 3000rpm. Lets just say that my 21 months old daughter doesn't wake up when I rev to 4000rpm. :D I love the sound -- no t too loud in any rev range.
