  1. Beaurepaires in Melbourne have just started an "Easter" sale on tyres Beaurepaires Easter Sale

I've booked myself in for Monday next week for Dunlop LM701's at $115 a tyre , not bad from being quoted $139 a tyre at a Beaurepaires store a month ago.

Thats a pretty good price... I always thought that SP300E were better tyres then LM701's.. If im correct i think you should go for SP300E, according to the catalogue there is only a $4 price difference per pop (205/65/15) otherwise stick to your current choice :)

  2. Hi all,

Looks like one of my lights has died for the aircon controls. I was wondering how I would go about replacing it?

I can take out the stereo surround and sort of pop the aircon controls off but the aircon controls can't be moved much. Also I can't seem to get the fascia off the aircon controls. Help? (Tried searching google but it was of no help :()

you need to pull out the whole aircon facia..

So firstly remove the sterio facia, including the clock and speed alert cable. Then remove the stereo then finally remove the whole Aircon facia.

There are no screws for the air con facia just clips and and 3 cables (from memory).

  3. Recently one of my alloy wheels was stolen from my parked car. I bought a similar looking wheel and bought 4 off wheel locknuts from Supercheap auto. Unfortunately they are made from mild steel and they don't seem to last long as one of the nuts has become rounded.

I went to local Toyota dealer and asked for hardened steel lock nuts. The guy at the counter was not very helpful and started asking part number. I told him and the nut is of 12mm x 1.5 mm pitch. He did not follow and I left the shop.

I have heard that Aurion has good alloy wheel locknuts.

Could someone advise me whether the Aurion has same wheel studs as Camry Vienta? Or where can I get good quality wheel lock nuts?

    Thanks in advance.

    K8Canb

Have a look at these Lock Nuts from Sydney City Toyota.......

BTW Which Toyota Spare Parts did u go to?

    Toyota Locknuts

  4. Looking for tyre recommendations for my 2005 Camry. I\'m after a tyre with good durability and fuel economy and obviously one that is safe.

    Ones I\'m considering are:

-Dunlop Sport SP300 (original tyre on car)

    -Bridgestone E92

    -Pirelli P6

If anyone had any thoughts/experiences they wanted to share on these tyres it\'s be most appreciated

Id say to go for one of the Bridgestone range, either Taranza ER592 or ER300 .

My Camry originally came with Dunlop SP300 tyres which were really good, i got almost 70, 000 Kms out of them. The downside is these tyres are no longer made in Australia. So i wouldnt recommend these tyres any longer, regardless of what the Tyre Centres say.

  5. Sorry to sound like a dummy.

Is there any link to show me how to access the globes to swap them out?

I can get to the high and low beams but the parkers are a differant kettle of fish.

    Thanks again gang.

You will need to partially unscrew the bumper (if u can the whole bumper but partially should also be fine), then unscrew the headlamp move it slightly forward then replace the bulbs.

  6. sorry i need to know, it the gov NSW ban using fog light ? and fine apply if cause using it ? how are they ban from ? if i drive in freeway at night, normal light can't help me to see. i need to turn on fog light, with is helping alots, when i drive in freeway. can i get fine from it ?

They are not illegal but should only be used in diverse conditions. From memory its a $90 fine with loss of 2 Demerit points.

I havent seen your fogs so im not sure how bright they are but if oncoming traffic high beam you then it must be bright :)

Your other option is to upgrade your low beams to HID lights if your willing to spend the money or even get night driving lights.

  7. They look great, i was about to get a set from ebay, they sold for about $160ish but were the first ones, 5x100

    Thanks...

The Kappa 17's would look pretty good on the ZR Corolla, i know they are not cheap though.

Seeing as you went to Stewart, you must be a local, i'll keep an eye out for you :D

    Yeah sure why not :)

  8. I finally got my Tyres put on Today, i ended up getting the Adrenalin RE001 225/45/17. I think size 235/45 would have fit aswell.....

The Speedo is only 1 KM higher which isnt really a worry....

The next thing i have to do is get Locknuts for the wheels.. anyone got any ideas how much they will cost or what is the best ones to get?Not sure if toyota has Genuine Locknuts..

In the meantime here are a few pics that i took of the wheels.... i will take more clear ones during the day

  9. Thanks for your input everyone, i have decided to go with The Bridgestone RE001. I Went to Bridgestone today and have placed an order for these tyres for $220 a pop (225/45/17) and should get them by Tuesday. I wanted to get the ER300 since they are more quiet and use the RFT technology but they are out of stock :(

  10. Unless you get all the required parts out of a wrecked Camry, the costs involved to change from manual to auto climate control is not going to be worth it. If you were to buy the parts from Toyota, you would be looking at around $2000 at the least, and that's being on the optimistic side. The reason for this is the manual air conditioning has cables to control all the air mix and vent positions. The auto air conditioning has this replaced by motors. As well, even something as simple as the blower motor is different between the two. With the manual air conditioner, the blower motor controls it's speed via a resistor pack and the automatic climate control on the other hand uses a digital controller. As a result of all this, you would have to change nearly every component in your current air conditioning system to those that the auto climate control uses.

It's one of those situations where it is just best to put up with what you've got. If you are truly are serious about spending such money on this procedure, I can provide part numbers for all the major components that you would need. But that said, if you are really serious about doing this, then you would have to be insane.

$2000 is not worth it. The max i was willing to Spend on Climate Control was $1000 (Tops).

I saw one of my work mates 36 Series Azura Model Camry the other day and it had the Climate Control Air Con.... It seemed like one of those Must have Items for the car....

  11. Every morning when I start my car first go it sounds like its choking before it revs I'm not sure whats the problem.

Has any of you members have the same issue like mine?

    Please reply

    Thank you.

Something Similar happen to one of my mates 2008 model Sportivo. The dealer changed the spark plugs, that seems to have fix the issue.

If your car is parked on an angle driveway that can also cause it to choke.

Sometimes (but rarely) Battery can also be a factor.

  12. What is a fitting Kit. The box had wheelnuts, Centrecaps and Air Valvecaps....

David (SupaTouring) has provided this answer before for a thread on the Aurion boards. Same deal really:

anyone know what the "fit kit" is for? i was under the assumption that the new wheels would just bolt directly onto the car??

The "kit" has items for removing the wheel nuts if the nut hex is a different size to standard as was the case with my gen4 Camry with the GTP 17x7 wheels. The nuts for those were 19mm instead of 21mm so a wheel brace was included along with a piece of felt to protect the wheel when in the boot and I think it also came with another bolt to hold the spare wheel down in the boot.

So really the kit is to give you any extra items to remove or store the accessory wheels from/in the car.

Toyota accessory wheels that I have bought have always come with wheel nuts, centre caps and valves

So in other words This is an option item to have and is not a requirement? Or should i just go and get it just to be on the safe side :)

  13. Looks like i will be getting Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001 Tyres.

I might give my Local Bridgestone Tyre Centre a call and see if they can Match the Price with Jaxquickfit

I Called Bridgestone last week for a price, they quoted me $256 Per Tyre. were as Jaxquickfit quoted me $230 each if i get set of 4.

I opened one of the Alloy wheel Boxes today and was looking at the Instuctions, one of the sentence said to "Install With a Fitting Kit (Refer to Dealer) If applicable.

Does anyone know anything about that? What is a fitting Kit. The box had wheelnuts, Centrecaps and Air Valvecaps....

  14. yes it is 225/45R17...

the RE001's in that size are made in Australia.

and they are right now priced @ $249 @ JaxQuickFit"

And i did have those same wheels for the V6 Camry(Gen 5.5)....but i ran 235/45R17 on Bridgestones RE030 and they lasted like 55000kms...

If i use 235/45/ instead of 225/45 will there be any issues with the driving or the speedo showing incorrect speed.

I have come down to the following Three tyres,

Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001 $230 at Jaxquickfit

    Toyo Proxes 4 (Price Unknown)

Dunlop SP SPORT 3000A $225 at Jaxquickfit

    Take your Pick :)

  15. I have an 05 camry v6 (ACV36R)

I have bought 20 inch rims 20x7.5 with 225/35/20 tyres.

I know the pcd and offset are correct but didnt actually research if the wheels will fit with out any rubbing.

suppose I wont know till i put them on.. Problem is theve been bought interstate and getting shipped over to WA.

So once theres little chance of returning it.

Ah well if any one knows whether i'll have any issues let me know..

or if any had 20's on there acv36r camry or know of any please let me know your experience.

fingers crossed no rubbing... or probs with full lock..

Hadnt thought of the possible insurance issues either jumping from 16's to 20's

    Regards

    Kelvin

I previously had 20 X 8.5 on my 2005 Camry, i had to get the rear gaurds rolled in.

I only had those wheels for about 6 months then ended up selling it due to the following reasons.

    Rough Driving,

Feel every bump on the road

    Constant wheel allignments.

steering wheel shakes once speed is over 100 Kms

  16. I have 2008 Altise, and I think there is a problem with the headlights - they are not very bright!

    Hi-beam is fine.

Are projector headlights meant to be brighter than normal ones, or just more focused ?

I had a 99 Sonata before this and it's headlight's were way brighter.

I was driving around last night, and basically every other car on the road has brighter head-lights, even 15 year old hatchbacks.

We've had the car since late 2008, my wife drives it mostly, but I didn't notice until I drove it a round a few times at night. When I mentioned it to her, she says that sometimes she has to flick the hi-beams on in urban areas just to see what is ahead (yep, I explained to her it is illegal and dangerous).

I'll be taking it in for a service soon, but it will be hard to illustrate the problem in the middle of the day.

In summary, if you have a gen7 Camry, have you noticed the headlight are not very bright ?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

My Brothers 2008 Sportivo lights had the same issue. you can tilt it up which slightly improves the vision. however in the long run you may want to consider upgrading to 6000K HID lights. cost my brother $400 installed

  17. Hey guy/girls

My issue is I have a 2003 Camry Sportivo 4 Cylinder and when im driving it 3 out of 5 times when I either press the brake use the power windows, use the blinker or wiper all electrical will cut out for half a second and come back on. Gauges, headlights, power windows, radio will switch of for half a second or less and then come back on. Also randomly (1 out of 6 times) without doing anything the electrical will cut out.

And roughly 1 in 15-to-20 times the car will actually turn off.

I tried things like cleaning away corrosion on battery terminals and looking for loose wiring but still it persists. But when I disconnect battery (positive and negative) for over 15 mins and connect it the problem will stop for a couple of days.

If i remember right when you disconnect the battery for over 15 mins its resets the ECU, correct me if im wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated cause ive taken it to my local Totoya repairer and they said to find the problem they have to change parts 1 by one and do tests and they want to charge $430 just for the air filter box.

If Possible, Try a different Battery if you havent already done so?
