  1. I agree with Andrew and Daryl.

On the other hand you can try one of those Rip off fuel Injector services that the dealer offers or use the Fuel Injector System cleaners.

The Calculations you mentioned sound about right :)

  2. Nice, pimped out Camry.

Intruiged with this high mount spoiler ou speak of. What does it look like?

Its the same High Mount Spoiler as yours. The one on the boot... :)

I like the Red Calipers on your Camry, wouldnt mind getting them for mine :)

  3. I figured out that original tyre size for 18 inch wheels are 225/45R18. However, those size are quite expensive (>$320 in Melbourne) and I want to put something around $200.

Can I put 235/40R18 on them?

Id say stick to 225/45/R18 or 235/45/R18. Its no use taking the risk to compromise on safety for you, your family and the vehicle for a few hundred dollars.

In the long run if you have an accident theres a possibility that the Insurance will reject the claim...

The good thing is that at the moment alot of Tyre stores have a end of financial year sale, so you might be able to save quite a bit by bargaining.

If you need to, grab the phone and call a few tyre stops within 20 KM's and grab a few quotes :)

  4. Hey Everyone,

When i click on the Photo's Tab on this web site, I receive the following error

107187] Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available.

So i am unable to upload and view pics :(

Does anyone know an email address of an Site Admin who i can email to get this sorted?

The email address in the contact us section is incorrect.

    thanks :)

  5. The A/C cleaning as well isn't a bad idea if you are getting some really strong smells for more than a few seconds after turning your A/C on or off. However, you can usually get this done elsewhere for around $50, or you can just buy the treatment yourself for around half that and do it yourself.

I got the Air Con service done at the dealer about 3 Weeks ago and i have noticed that the aircon still smells a little stong. (Not as bad as it use to be though)

Is there any DIY products that anyone has used previously that they would recommend,,,,,

  6. Sorry i dont know any places in sydney but im interested in knowing how much this will set you back

I got 3 quotes, one from a place in Milperra, Cronulla and a Toyota Dealer.

    Milperra - $2300

    Cronulla - $2400

Sydney City Toyota - $6500 (For this price, I think the female quoted me for a new roof)

Why not just sell your Camry and buy one with a factory roof. Aftermarket usually means trouble down the track, I've seen some dodgy installs over the years.

Your absolutely right, ill do my homework before i let any installers touch my Ride :)

  7. Hey Everyone,

I have finally decided to go ahead and get a Sunroof for my 05 Camry.

Does anyone know any good sunroof dealers/installers in sydney or brands i should be going for and how much should i be spending

Also is there anything else i should be looking out for when looking for a sunroof.

  8. Looks like both remotes have to be re-programmed......

Take it to the dealer (or Alarm Specialist) and have it checked.

I know Toyota charges alot to look at the alarm, approx $120 an hour.

  9. Something similar happened with my 2005 model camry 4 yrs ago when i changed the front two speakers.

The reason this happened was because the lock button hook on the passenger door wasnt in properly causing all four doors not to lock.

You can check the door locks (remove and put back in) especially if u had the speakers changed.

  10. I agree mate, you cant go wrong with Camry's. Had mine for 5 yrs havent had any problems.

Just make sure the recall on the lights have been done.

You might also need a Major service done and if your not getting warranty have it NRMA inpected just to be on the safe side.

  11. Talking of Fuel Injector service, i was talking to a Mechanic Today, he was saying that when doing Fuel injector Services there is Three levels or layers that need to be serviced, where as when the Dealers do it they only do the one layer (upper level im guessing)not sure if the other layers are required or not.. But i guess the more layers the more it will cost :(

Does anyone know if theres any other Extra services other then Fuel Injector, Air Con anti bac and Power steering flush...

  12. Fair enough then, I must be mistaking it with the Corolla and Tarago.

Both the 2001 model Corolla and 1998 model Tarago's seatbelt light flash until the seatbelt is buckled.

Atleast this is one problem off my list :)

  13. Hey Everyone......

When i start up the Camry, the Seat Belt warning light on the Dash flashes about 5 times then turns off.

Does any one know what could be wrong with it?

Im pretty sure that, that light is ment to be flashing until the seat belt is pulled down.

I went to the dealer today and reported the fault with the Seat Belt warning light. They came back and said NFF - All similar models do the same thing. (Which i highly Doubt)

I think the person i spoke to was clueless along with the person who serviced the car were clueless, as they seem to be an apprentice.

Has anyone had similar issues or knows what needs to be done as the Dealer simply dont know.

I would have been so much more happy if the Dealer told me that they dont know how to fix it and reffered me to the little corner shop mechanic rather then saying - No Fault Found, Other Models do the same thing..

These Service Advisors and new Apprentice are so getting to me now....... :(

  14. Does anyone know what is involved and what dealers do for $120 on an injector clean? Surely they don't just chuck in an Injector treatment into the fuel tank and say thanks very much! I had an Ausy Skyline from new in 1989, did over 260,000 K's over16 years and other than the occasional Nulon injector treatment in the petrol tank the injectors weren't touched and were still working perfectly, when I parted company with the car. Oh! I used to put in 20Mls of two stroke oil whenever I filled the petrol tank, to help lubricate the valves and injectors and of insufficient quantity to affect the catalytic converter. Maybe Toyota injectors are of a poorer quality?

This is what i found on a Dealers website. Looks like they do more then drop fluid in the fuel tank

    Fuel Injection Service:

Retores lost power and performance for only - $120 by cleaning carbon deposits from the upper cylinder area of the engine, ensuring your vehicle performs the way it was meant to. Fuel Injection Service is recommended every 20,000kms or 12 months.

  15. Thats scarey stuff man.

I think this is a lesson for everyone.

In a similar situation like this, i think the best thing to do is Call the Cops from your mobile and say,"I am driving on such and such road, theres a White Toyota Supra with the rego XXXXX(if visible),that is high beaming me, Driving Dangerously and may potentially cause an accident. Can you please send someone down.... etc.... (Something along these lines)

99% of the time, you will be shocked and may not think of calling the cops, but instead, gun it down the side streets. It's always good to call the cops, that way you will have back up if something is likely to happen :)

  16. Its mostly upselling .

IMO Fuel Injector Service seems too soon at 30K

Thats exactly what i thought but thought it was a good idea to confirm. I do recall doing a fuel injector service 4 years ago (30,000 kms service) as the Service advisor said it will improve performance. Since the car was one year old back then, i agreed to go ahead with it as the vehicle was new and i didnt want to comprimise on performance in the years to come.

mate, you warranty finished ages ago. Just go to another mechanic(not a dealer) and get the same service but way cheaper.

I Still have warranty til end of 2011, hence the reason i am taking it to the Dealer. I had got a Complimentry 3 year Extended Warranty, which has never come in handy in the last 5 years.

injector cleaning at 30K? pfft. We had so many cars in our life time that had done hundreds of thousands of km's in its life time and we never done this injector cleaning stuff.

My old man said the same. He has never done the Injector service on any of his cars. He also said im better off going to Caltex and getting the Fuel Injector Fluid for less then $10 and using that(If needed)instead of spending $120 at the dealer.
