I'd Dispute this in court, This is total bull.
Im pretty sure your friend will win.
195/60/R15 is what these cars come as stock.
Legally you should be able to go 2 inchs high in Diameter and 1 inch extra in width without a defect. So 215/40/R17 is the max
Before your friend disputes this, get him to type out a letter, take it to a Toyota Service Centre and get it signed and Stamped
Edit: Sorry, I Just relised, he has the wrong tyre size. he should have 205/50/R16. :(

Far out. Sorry to hear about the car mate, atleast your ok thats the main thing...
I know how i would feel :(
Dont Worry, The Insurance should sort it out for you.

Welcome Aboard :)

That does not sound right with the wheels locking, Everything else is correct though. Next time the cars due for a service you might want to bring that up.
-
Your absolutley correct mate.
Theres always a loophole though.
If one of the drivers are drunk the insurance company dont want to know about it.
Hit and run like u said.
The person who caused the accident blaimed it on the other party.

I agree, Toyota in general use Stick on Badges. :)
-
Hopefully it has Audi LED Day/Night lights aswell :)
-
If he is giving you the car for free then go for it :)
The inspection would cost approx $100 so thats not too bad to find out all the faults (if any)with the vehicle.
Plus the car is 20 yrs old so its still a good idea to get it done.
If you do decide not to go ahead with this car and after a Camry, i normally tell people to get 94+ Camry's 9 (Cant remember the model) as they are still pretty cheap and still fairly reliable :)

Congratz on the purchase mate....
I still have my AE112,, they are nice cars..
-
You will need to get it resealed.
Best thing to do is take it to a Sunroof dealer or even places like Windscreen Obrien and they should be able to put a sealant in for you.
Theres a few places in Sydney that i know of but it all depends where you are.....

[Added a poll just for the heck of it :)
Nice, we'll see how this goes :)
-
Great work. I didnt relise it is such a hassle removing the rear bumper...

Out of interest, what safety benefits are there to locking your doors while you drive?
I'm not sure about Tassie, but in some Major Cites of NSW, VIC and QLD there are groups of Mobs who attack drivers, jump inside and steal the car or valuables.
Hence the reason i usually lock the car as soon as i get in. Its become a habit.
Nothing has happen to me but i think its a good idea to keep the doors locked. Especially at night :)

I'll try the Valvoline Eagle one car care range first and see how that goes,
After that i might also try from the 'Demeter Fragrance Library'. Postage to Aust it about $40 so i might as well order a few :)

I remember the dealer telling me about it when i was looking at the Aurion SX6 a month ago.
Not sure if its a new feature or if its across all Aurions.

I did purchase a "new car scent" from Chemical guys in Mount Eliza but that gave the car those new holden with leather smell which gave me a headache (Must have sprayed too much)

I've been to three in Melbourne's south-east. Unfortunately I would not recommend any of them...
Which ones? that way we can avoid them.
-
I reckon TOCAU has the closest and most mature community of all the car clubs around.
That's so True..........
-
Sorry to hear about your AE112 :(
For OEM fog lights the best place to get it from will be Ebay, should be between $120-$200..
-
Hey everyone,
Does anyone know of an air freshner or chemical that will give the car the "New Car Smell"?
At the moment i am using whatever the carwash sprays which lasts about 3 days.
feel free to recommend a fresher aswell :)

I have had mine for over two years now but havent been booked yet..
I think it all depends on the Cop.
If you go to a heated up area where there are EPA officers you might get done for it then but it all depends.
If you dont do anything silly i guess your ok :) then again your not bullet proof.

Welcome Aboard........ :)
