  1. Not too sure why we are comparing a 4 Cylender with a V6

anyways, the best car to compare with the Commy would be the Aurion.

Aurion would be more fuel efficent and has a few more KW's

You may get the Commy for a better price since they made so many of those.

Going back to the camry Altise, if you mind the loss of power then you should be fine.

Just keep in mind that the specs on the toyota website is for the 2010 camry.

There has been a few minor changes. e.g. for Altise, Bluetooth, usb input, side airbags, led lights, headlight controls etc.....

  2. I Agree, dont cut it. I've been in cars with cut springs and i would never recommend it. Bumpy and rough ride, shakey steering wheel, noises, rubbing etc...

Just put aside $50 each week and u should be fine :)

  3. I take it to the carwash as i usually have Vouchers.

I need to start washing the car myself. But im usually super Busy :(

I havent used Mortein, but if you live in the Jungle, i guess it's ok.

    This is my Breakdown

    2-3 Weeks

Vacuum vehicle interior including all mats, footwalls, seats and boot.

Dust & wipe dashboard & centre console

Clean interior glass to remove smears and streaks.

An active foam bath covers the entire vehicle to dissolve built up dirt and grime.

Wheel Wash process effectively cleans away grime & brake dust leaving sparkling clean rims.

All over Exterior Wash using quality mitts and shampoos that effectively and safely cleans the entire vehicle.

Apply an all over application of gloss "Hot Wax" which seals your paintwork and provides a protective coating which repels rainwater & dirt.

Hands free contour drying process which closely contours your vehicles surface for a safe & completely dry finish.

Exterior Glass clean which effectively removes bugs and dirt.

    Wipe door & boot jambs.

Apply Tyre Shine for a long lasting protective shine for the Tyres.

    2-3 Months

    Paint Protection

Scratch and swirl mark reduction treatment.

Revitalises and restores colour and shine.

Apply Paint Protection treatment to exterior duco.

    Conditioning of external trims.

  4. There is nothing aftermarket fitted except new terminals and battery. It's really stange as it's gone away (for now).

Went to the dealer to get my Alternator changed yesterday. I told the Service Technician about your problem aswell cause i remembered you dropped me a line a day before. the Service Technician said that it could be due to some poor after market electical grounding or it could be the alternator.

Atleast its all good for now :)

  5. I went to the Dealer yesterday (1st July) saw 3 of the Touring model, two of them were feb 2010 and one was March 2010 Compliant, so i think it varies.

I asked for a "Drive Away" price (not best price)on the Touring, they said 39K. I thought he would have said 35K. oh well.

With the Extra options, I know, options like, Dark Tints and Extended Bumper to bumper warranty are good upgrades to have, what about options like paint protection and Microwave movement sensor alarm Upgrade? combined this two can cost approx $1100-$1500. is it worth it or better off doing it aftermarket?

  6. Some good news Everyone..........

Had the car towed to Toyota this morning and got the alternator replaced for free :)

saved $530 ( Not sure how much Toyota would have charged if it wasnt covered)

This is the first time ive actually claimed something under the vehicle warranty.

For reference, my Alternator died around the 98,000km mark (May 2009) and I took it to an UltraTune who were unable to fit an alternative alternator onto it. They had to source the same model alternator which cost me $560 including GST to have it fitted.

Mine died out at 106,500 Km and Lasted 4 and a half years.

The Service advisor said that there is no specific lifetime on Alternators. He did say that a few cars less then 1-2 years old needed replacement alternators.

  7. Yeah im having the car towed to the dealer first thing in the morning.

Hopefully it is the alternator and nothing else.

Seriously, if its the Battery, ill be so annoyed, i wasnt able to use the car at all today :(

  8. Did you at all notice a charge light while driving? That usually indicates that the alternator is not operating as it should.

When was the last time you had your battery replaced? If it has been around 5 years, it could probably just be the battery and only that. It may have just happened to be on it's last legs today. Not saying this is the cause, but I know how some people out there just try to rip you off.

And the price he quoted you sounds to me like a bit of a rip-off. It's been a while since I've had to buy an alternator, but I'd be expecting half of that for one to be purchased and fitted. But I can't really comment there.

The Charge light did not come up at all.

The Battery was changed a year and a half ago and is still under warranty with NRMA.

At first i thought it was the battery as its been fairly cold in Sydney which i thought may have caused it.So i called NRMA to have a new battery installed For free, after the Tech checked the car, he said its not the battery but the alernator, as it isnt charging the battery.

On the other hand i was going to my warranty booklet, the car still has part of the 3 year extended Mechanical Protection warranty remaining. Looks like that the alternator is covered. Will give the dealer a call first thing in the morning.

Have heard of replacement alternators being required for the 02 - 06 models but it usually should last the life of the car. Any symptoms like radio/engine cutting out briefly (like mine)?

    No not at all..

It was the last thing i was expecting to stuff up in the car. I do have Subs in the car but they have been there for almost 5 yrs. Not sure if they would have caused any damage.

  9. I used the car a few times today, when i tried starting the car up tonight it didnt start :(

So i assumed it was a flat battery so i called NRMA to replace the Battery.

After NRMA checked the battery he said that the Alternator isnt charging the Battery hence the reason its not starting and quoted me $530 for a new Alternator.

I gotta admit, i know crap all about Alternators, should i just get NRMA to replace it or should i look for a specific brand?

Also what is the life of the Alternaters, my one is almost 5 yrs old.

  10. hahaha, I only found the high mount/high-rise spoiler a month ago, it looks pretty good.

Calipers are from the 40 series Camry/Aurion and simply painted red. Using the front rotors from the 40 series is a great, cost-effective brake upgrade for our 36 series.

Yeah mount/high-rise spoiler really stands out, Its not that common though, i havent seen it on many Camry's.

Might go to the Toyota Dealer sometime next week and get a quote on the 40 Series Rotors and Calipers.

My next upgrade will be the Sunroof, most likely the Hollandia 900 Series. I had to hold this off for a bit because a few people have said that most installers do a Dodgy Job :(

  11. 20x8.5 i had on mine, no problem, a few guys are running 9.5

Yeah you shouldnt have problems with 8.5, aslong as your insurer knows about it, its all good :)

I think 9.5 can cause the brake to fail... I duno.. If 9.5 Inch drives ok, I wonder how Aurion will go with 22 inch wheels :)

Just depends on if you have the balls to ride illegal width wise....my balls have never been that big, especially on a 20k + car with full comp, would hate to be reneged on a claim for over wide wheels.

I totally agree with you mate.. Would really suck to pay the full repair of your car and someone elses car just because of the rim width.

Im running 20x 8.0 and lowered and fully insured etc nps as long as your up front with the insurance company

You were pretty lucky to find what you like in that size, Normally all the good looking 20s are 8.5 Inch

  12. Dunlop and Goodyear were always good OZ tyres but i havent touched them since they offshored to Asia, so i cant say much about the quality.

Are any tyres manufactured in Oz these days?

Some of the Bridgestone ones are still made here, like the RE001's and a few of the Bob Jane ones.

Falken Tyres are made in Japan from Memory, With Falken Tyres u get the bang for the buck. Awsome Prices i gotta admit

With Dunlop and Goodyear Tyres, they Charge Premium prices even though they make it in China and Taiwan.

  13. Id recommend either Bridgestone ADRENALIN RE001 or the Yokohama A Drive R1.

Toyo is another good brand to look at, Epecially Proxies (if available)
