  1. check your state to see whether aftermarket lambo doors are legal. apparently in nsw they arent.

    also.. IMHO... i woudlnt put that hammer logo on the car.

    the logo and text would make your car look like its for a business or something. it honestly looks like a really bad tattoo... either way it aint stylish.

    i dont mean to rag on your hammer pic, but you dont really need the HAMMER lettering to know the image has a hammer.

    if anything... get HAMMER as text in a really racer type font with some racing stripes and vinyl it across the side of the car.. but leave the image out.

    Heres something rough i made up:

    HAMMER.jpg

    check out how other cars use vinyl... or how racing stripes are normally put on cars. look up chip foose's stuff.. he does awesome work. when it comes to car design.. colours and racing stripes. dont just look at other corollas.. look at all types of cars!

  2. na autobarn asked the specific questions, they asked what year model and paint code number so all the info was correct, just the colour still wasnt an exact match.

    true its all based on experience, im just saying that you shouldnt expect a 100% match 100% of the time with autobarn.

    the place i was talking bout before was:

    V.G. Auto Paints & Tools

    Touch Up Paints, Colour Matching, Tools & Equipment, Polishes & More

    11 Amax Ave Girraween NSW 2145

    ph: (02) 9636 5411

    http://www.vgautopaints.com.au/

    i bought paint from this place a few times.. first time they colourmatched exactly, the second time they did it the same way autobarn did it, but the paint i got there was still closer to the autobarn paint. id trust these guys more because paint is all they specialise in!? autobarn got a bit of most things car related.. kinda like the difference between going to the gp and a specialist.

  3. i wouldnt go to autobarn for an exact match.

    i had the colour code of my corolla but the silver colour they gave me was solely based on the info they had on their computers. they didnt go out and take a look at the colour of my car to see how well their colour actually matched, so it didnt match perfectly.. not to my liking anyway. buying paint there kinda reminded me of ordering a big mac meal from macdonalds...

    if your car is a few years old (mine is '03), the colour may have changed by the slightest bit coz of sun and weather exposure etc.

    theres a place in toongabie that gives more accurate colourmatch (but depends on whos serving you at the time.. if you dont ast the right person you get the autobarn service). they actually go out to the car with the bucket of paint to see how well their colour matches your car. oh yea they sell it in whatever amount you need, so they do have spray cans, as well as the primers, clearcoats, and equipment you need like spray guns and compressor parts if you wanna do more serious work.

  4. true, if you have the speaker level inputs then you can use that in place of the RCAs... but i guess thats only if youve only installed a sub.

    using the speaker level inputs wont make sense in my car, which ive amp'd up my front splits and my sub. if i upgraded my head unit (which i plan on doing eventually), i wouldnt be using any of the stock speaker wires at all. all my audio would be coming through my amps which is connected through the RCAs.

    i guess its depends on what your doing.

    since encounta is upgrading both speakers and subs, im guessing he wants to amp the lot.

    in that case he could do either the level inputs (if his amps have em) or the RCAs (+RCA adapter) since hes sticking with the stock head unit.

    but yea as i mentioned earlier, if hes got all that installed already and then decides he wants a new headunit, then hed have to use the RCAs.

  5. one thing im curious about -

    the dropkick that parra did during the game made me think about the way the players kick in the NRL compared to aussie rules.

    why does the ball have to bounce off the ground before you can kick it in NRL? is it against the rules to kick it aussie rules style?

    I'm not to sure either JJ... the rules specify it must be a drop kick, but i have no idea why the rule is that. probably just some history type thing :P

    so it IS in the rulebooks somewhere?!

    interesting stuff!

  6. i believe i play nice!? most of the time i post so i can contribute something to the topic or ask questions relating to the topic. but it does irritate me when people judge others while having nothing else to contribute to the conversation.

  7. hey gerald..

    an rca adaptor is like $15 bucks from autobarn. ive had one in my corolla for a while now (on the stock head unit) and its connected to 2 amps and havent had a problem yet! (besides my cd player not working, but thats nothing to do with the RCA thing)... just splice the 2 front speaker cables and solder the RCA adaptor to that (behind the head unit).

    there are more expensive ones, but think bout it - your ears wont know the difference between a $15 rca adaptor and a 50-80+ buck adaptor.

  8. na the "sport" thing sounds about right.

    TTR kinda implies something extra is under the bonnet, kinda like TRD on the corolla would (or SHOULD) imply a supercharger is somewhere in there..

    TRD stickers shouldnt be used if youve only put on the gearknob.. lol

  9. by looking at the pics and reading the posts i am 99% sure that this was the corolla i saw in the toyota edition of hot4s magazine!

    but in the magazine there was a massive lcd screen floating above the amps... looks like the mount is there for it... is it the one?!

    if so i wanna know how you got them down lights into the hatch door!

    i actually found the magazine in the bottom of 1 of my boxes in my garage... while cleaning it out coz the garage got flooded after the rain and never got round to cleaning it out until last week.

    the magazine got waterlogged and most of the pages were lost.. but i managed to save the article about the 1zz.. gonna scan and post the article when i get home :P

    are you the original owner? or did you buy the car with all that in there?

  10. Yah, Scarboro & Melville Toyota are TRD dealers in Perth. Banbury Toyota also...

    Runx = Corolla Sportivo

    Allex = Hatch (1zz)

    Fielder = Wagon

    Axio = Sedan

    Straight from Japan can be costly and timely.

    What are you after?

    im still a bit confused bout the japanese names...

    didnt toyota make fielders (wagons) with sportivo engines? would that then be named fielder runx or fielder aerotourer???

    ive seen pics of allex and runx hatches and they look the same (besides the emblem)..

    and since they made 2zz fielders, did they make a sedan with lift too?
