  1. congrats dude. as for the towbar , i was in a quandary as well . i finally decided to get a hayman and reece. its a little less obtrusive and the tongue can be taken off by pulling out the pin. i will post a photo of mine. You still have to buy the genuine wiring kit. the h/r might be $50 - 80 dearer as far as the audio -ipod issue.. is your unit a facia id no . something like 38006 .. cant remember as not at work. if so it may require a software update. there is a sequence of button pressing to find out the base software and then you can work out it it needs an update via cd or complete replacement. when apple brought out ios 4.2.1 in dec 2010 the audio units stick and say loading. so F-10 had to release another software update to combat this. if s/w is 866-400 , 866-500 i believe it is update-able via cd . if early 866-219 or 866-300 the unit requires replacement. do you connect your (Hongkong Telephone Company) via bluetooth ?.. if so and your in a call the seek button up and down adjusts the microphone gain 0 + or - 3 - this is software v 866-500. Now how to get into software . hold preset 2 and 5 buttons , press disc/aux 3 times whilst holding 2&5. screen will be white with 3 options in blue on left side. hit debug. screen changes giving 3 new options. select version... the screen will be full of numbers.. the 2nd line will say BASE --- --- this is the current s/w version . cheers Tim p.s. i forgot my trailer plug wiring i left as a throw out the boot. just wrap it in micro fibre cloths and 100mph tape. as well as a taped up section on the bumper to stop scratching.. im anal like that lol
  2. another bump , someone wants or knows someone who wants an awesome aurion somewhere , dont they ???
  3. i dont want to point fingers but didnt they fit the torque convertor to the auto ???. damaged seal you say.. as for the 10 grand , i think a project could be in order.. joking of course ... kluger auto /transaxle and transfer , tailshaft and rear diff ----- 4wd aurion taaadaaaa !!!!!
  4. routing the wires up the left side of the vehicle is easy. with the photos shown by OP pass them thru the l/h upper hole and down behind the l/h/r outer seat piece then under the l/h/r scuff plate. follow the wiring loom already there and thru the "b" pilar under the l/h/f scuff plate past the l/h/f kick panel. with the glovebox removed pass the wires up to the rear of the head unit and tie them back. in the early days 1 wire for towbar was needed to run to the front fuse box in this fashion the camera mount has a cut out area central of the number plate. that camera looks like the genuine one and seems it would snap right in the. i have a zr sportivo and there is a rectangular type cutout area. i have not fitted a camera to an aurion , done reverse sensors and towbars. i have fitted cameras to hilux, rav4 and corolla hatches - aurion is easier.
  5. my first thought was that the vehicles battery is no good. we use a toyota battery tester at work, on every car. it is a useful tool as it is fairly accurate on its % tests. we can not make a warranty claim on a battery unless one of these tests are carried out and the code number attached to the warranty claim. if the battery is flat there might be enough left to power security light an in some instances the h/lights may work. a half hour drive will only give a surface charge , it needs a good long charge and retest .. is the battery still original... black case century yuasa brand 55d23l pt no.. i see these last at least 5 years if serviced correctly.
  6. wow , that is pretty pricey. i have seen a few klugers and aurions with timing case leaks and a few for vvti controller replacements - in both cases the engine is required to come out as the timing case will not fit out between the engine and chasis rail. i did have 1 guy who thought it could be done but the crank snout is too long and the alloy timing case will not fit over the end to pass through. the reseal does involve a few parts , both rocker covers have to come off the 2 piece sump , inlet manifold plenum chamber and all associated gaskets and orings. hi pressure oil feeds thru the rocker covers to the vvti control valves and its important to change them. its is annoying if your vehicle isn't under warranty , all the ones ive sen so far have been warranty jobs. I can see why it would take 14 hours to do. Not easy to work on, and i think the sealant is durable enough, as i had sealant failure on my camry V6 as well. Im starting to feel disapointed with it all. do you have any rattle noises on startup ????. if the car sat for a few hours and you start it can you hear a distinct rattle for 2 -5 secs ?. if you did you might ask the dealer to try for toyota assistance with a vvti controller rattle (recognised as an issue with a small amount of 2gr's) replacement. i know yours has a few klms but its no skin off the dealer nose. just a warranty administrator inputting a warranty request.. just a thought ???
  7. Thanx for the bump guys , hey do you guys ever sleep ????? posted times 1.58am and 4.37am very sad to see it go , i cant keep it , if i did it would become my new money pit. i modded my triumph motorbike to the hilt. enough for the missus to question too much .... lol the mod bug would hit me hard seeing all the other Aurions on here.

  11. Thanks to all the level head people who replied , i was asking for an explanation on the deletion without notification , that is all. I've been a member on my motorbike forum for 3.5 years now and when i overstepped the line a mod sent me a PM and warned me about impending actions. no biggie. BUT LOOK <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< i will now advertise. cheers possibly to be without GSV40 :(
  12. i m a member of other forums as well. i choose to donate when there is a need for said forum to reach a monthly quota , granted. my first post was deleted , i started with " not sure where or even if i am to post but here goes" to that effect. kind direction could have been given. im not in for financial gain , just the unfortunate circumstance where my current vehicle will need to be replaced with another so i can fit a wheel chair in for my daughter. and i have a vehicle which is my pride and joy and it should be someone elses who can appreciate it as much as i. i am 1 eyed toyota and have been for 23 years and i pride my work especially when i can pass on knowledge to help others. just communication was all i asked
  13. So i've been a long time reader and a member for only 1 year now. maybe a mod can set me straight. its ok to allow and condone the download of illegal and copyright infringing manuals with nothing done about out it , like locking or erasing a thread. but a member of the community with 23years of toyota experience and willing to give out technical advice for free many times now , is left to have to pay $30 forcibly it he wants to put up a thread relating to the sale of his beloved aurion zr6 , without any notification -- just lock the thread and wipe off the written words. so the only way is to become a "SUPPORTER" is it ? shell out $30 for a few written lines. i think not gsv40 out p.s. thanks for the warning ????????
  14. How did you go with this issue webby ?. topgun i think is on the right track. what brand of airflow sensor have you got on it. if it is a hitachi and non removeable this wont help. there is a removeable sensor fitted to 3rz and 5vz (prado hilux) toyota gave a dealer service hint back in 2002 that the sensor should be cleaned periodically. co spray or even shellite. if you can remove it from the air box with 2 screws its the correct brand one. i have had a hilux and a prado (vzj95) have similar issues and even an echo. the prado surged and if you pushed it it would backfire. swapped out the sensor from anopther vehicle and it made a huge difference. see how you go..
  15. Hi guys , havent been around here much. Afiak , the newer nokia 6300 , 6720 and other nokias ending in **20 are totally not compatible. motorola v razor v3 , zte - telstra t65 and t90 -- no good and thats off the top of my head Bluetooth is the bain of my existence. as you know the fine print says "mostly compaitiable" the tech people at fujitsu ten are great and have helped a lot. there are a few issues that relate to microphone gain and if the vehicle is under warranty the base unit software needs to be known . the latest up until the 4th of feb 2011 was 866-400 this has now been updated to 866-600 (600 is the iphone, iphone usb issue started with ios4.1 and above) In the 866-400 software us as a dealer are able to adjust the mic gain up or down. so either the person receiving your call can't here you or you are echoeing to them. this is the vital info the person needs to adjust the mic correctly . either up to 32db or down to 18db depending on issue. most of the time it is the phone and a firmware update at the manufacturers web site can fix this. sometimes the pairing of a mobile goes out the window , a simple off and on of the phone and sometimes a system initialse can help. if you pair a phone that streams audio and pairing drops out , delete profiles in the phone (car m media) and the audio unit and try again. happy to help with questions. as i now tend to get all issues at work cheers tim
  16. Adamsy, If I have had a warranty replacment using the part 45220-06132 (Shaft Assy strg int) does that mean I don't need the 45250-06510 part replaced? I am experiencing the old knock that they seem to have temporarily fixed with the 45220-06132 (Shaft Assy strg int). Hey HT , i will try to answer this without having a partfinder in front of me. What adamsy was saying is that the aurion models (atx,prodigy,sx6 and touring ) are all key start vehicles. the steering columns are slightly different. the intermediate shaft 45220-06132 is the lower shaft to the steering rack and the last digit 2 is the newer/superceeded part. the parts number referred to starting with 45250-***** is the upper part of the steering column and it differs if you have keyless or key starting systems. the keyless/smart entry has an electric steering lock and it is mounted differently. so in closing if you had the slight knock sound along with a thump feel in the steering ,more noticeable when braking or accelerating on the flat or over a driveway and you then had the int shaft replaced that should have fixed it. i drive over 20 cars a day and i have noticed the same feeling starting in klugers and some taragos too. so unless there is an issue with your rack and or rack ends or even noisey struts the shaft replacement should alleviate the original noise. i hope this helps
  17. yes recently changed the pads all round and they are different to the last pads installed. did the brake fluid get replaced at the time of the pad replacement ? if so what fluid was used ?. the toyota dot 3 is suggested , the later dot fluids may cause some strange issues
  18. good to see that you got it sorted. another good thing is that if it was a known issue toyota is honouring out of warranty repairs. i would suggest that the carpet should be lifted to dry it and the underfelt correctly or your going to use a lot of glen 20 , lol
  19. as shane_85 went to the trouble to do a "how to" on the aux input i followed it and it works perfectly. i work at a toyota dealership and i looked into aux sockets. the camry/aurion or either the prado socket that also has a usb sock , but that was too dear. in the howto it shows you how to place a resistor across 2 wires tricking the audio unit to give to AUX option. there is a plug on the divers side of the audio unit where the 3 wires are picked up from (power ,earth and input) and it is then wired to a 3.5mm socket so a mp3 player can be plugged in. i carried out this mod on my 2006 zr6 and it works great with my ipod touch. you dont have full control of the ipod as a microprocessor is required to integrate this. i copied shanes wiring and made a couple of looms , it really isnt hard , he even went to the trouble of supplying links and part numbers from jaycar. as far as the sat nav question , i will look into it as i did have a grande kluger wanting the same but were told there is nothing available , unless you spend $700 for a unit to integrate which lexus use ?????? lol cheers
  20. just check if the windscreen is new. that might be an issue. i would suggest if might be the sun/moon roof. there was a bulletin to dealers about the use of clamps on the drain tubes. the roof has 4 drain tubes coming off all 4 corners and the rubber hoses drain water away down the pillars of the car. the hoses fall off the ends of the sunroof and require to be refitted with clamps on as the factory did not believe they needed clamps. in some cases where we had no clamps available on the day of repair we supaglued the hoses on and used cable ties as a secondary measure.it is possible to gain access without removing the rooflining completely but is it easier if the it is out of the way, personal preference ! the tell tale signs if it has been leaking for a while is discoloured pillar trims and even sun visors. even if you remove the sunvisor you can see tell tale signs of water as some retainer clips look a little rusty (not bad ,it wipes off)
  21. Eah dealer/speciality workshop is different, so I'm not going to make a generalisation here. Basically all I will say is just because a particular shop has all the required equipment to do a job, it doesn't necessarily mean the job will be done perfectly. I've had many wheel alignments/balances done, and from my experience, some shops come out with better results than others. For example, I've had some alignment + balance issues in the past and had taken it to two different places with no solid results. Took it to another shop which my old man recommended, and the problems were fixed perfectly. It's all a personal thing at the end of the day. It just so happens that dealers have a higher reputation for doing a crappier alignment etc. On top of that, getting an alignment outside of Toyota not only gives better results for me, but even works out more cost efficient. Hey Djkor , i was not having a go at yourself , i was aiming more at people who do generalise with statement like "there is your problem , going to dealer". where i know there are a huge amount of differences in dealership experiences. With Toyota taking a big part in the parts and service day to day running these days introducing TSM level 1 and 2 this should help iron out some of the crooks. in the eyes of a manufacturer a wheel alignment can only be warranted if a component is faulty or the direct cause (hence camber bolt replacements). in general if you have an issue it can only be done at first service , it should have been sorted at pd. That is unless the dealer pays for it. cheers Tim
  22. i know how to fix an aurion or camry 40 series pulling left. it is to replace the camber bolts , the bolts are stepped and give no adjustment. the replacement bolts are slightly different and allow for movement to create a difference in camber. each instance needs to be judged differently once the specs can be seen on the wheel alignment machine. you dont always need to fit suspension bushes and so on. so tell me why a dealer doesn't know wheel alignments. after 23 years experience with toyota and having $30000 wheel alignment machines in the dealership and techs with some knowledge and decades in the trade , why is that worse than a place (wiv a tire fitta) not all dealerships are the same. its just like saying all customers are dumb ???? the way a dealership survives and keeps customer retention and satisfaction is to keep it all in house. now thats my rant for the day
  23. the sat nav bluetooth is normally very good. what type and model phone do you have. i have had so many issues with bluetooth. and it stems from a lot of different phones and incompatibility. there are a few phones that are just not compatible , nokia 6720 ,6320 . telstra t90 t65 and most of the zte range, a few motorolla v razors. in the eyes of toyota the unit (fujitsu ten) is said to be most compatible the satnav units are a lot better than standard units. there are a few tricks if the phone hangs whilst pairing. if the phone is in general profile sometimes taping the key pad of the phone so the unit sees it to finish the handshake. let me know your phone details (model brand etc)
