  1. thats some bad luck man...

I had a similar situation except i knew who did it.

My little 3 year old nephew and his little metal matchbox car.

You know kids and their toy cars running them along every surface, just that one of the surface happens to be my side doors both left front and rear doors are scratched. Its not that deep so im trying to figure out what would cover / fix the job..

    any suggestions?

Mothers scratch remover + wax to seal it (applied and wiped off with a terry towel)

I do not recommend those Turtle colour blend thingys, they are absolute crap.

It wont get rid of a deep scratch completely, but it works very well with light scratches (worked pretty well on my mates black euro, think his missus scraped it along some tree branches....though she denies this completely :P )

I remember reading something that it works by changing the refraction of light, hence the eye cannot see the scratches anymore... something along those lines.

My blue corolla had a key mark too - down to the white bit as well - mothers scratch remover helped it a bit, but its still noticable.)

  2. I am about to get some rims 2nd hand, they come with 205/40/R17 Toyo Trampio GUwn tyres. The load ratings for these are 84W, whereas i have read that the sportivo is 87W. What are the problems with having these below the load rating.

    Thnx in advance

keep in mind that your speedo will also be out.

Depending what tyres you had originally when you're doing 100km on the speedo, you're really doing <94km.

  3. Morning after last Sydney meet up i was driving home 3am sunday moning from campbelltown and was pulled over for the first time! LoL

The new thing now is you count to ten when the officer says to instead of blowing does it work more effective than the old method? It was really weird.

how long has it been this way?

I remember being told to suck in the air and blow it out straight away (ie without inhaling it in your lungs), apparently that worked? <_<

But I guess this method eliminates ppl doing this and getting away with it.

Got RBT'ed about 1 month ago and got the same treatment.

  4. This will be an insurance claim for me. One place quoted up to $1600 to respray all 3 panels.

Go see Dave @ DSports in Moorebank and see what he can do for ya.

I got my bumper SCRATCHED (ie paint gone down to the black pastic), he fixed it for $100 :D (i got a cascade blue corolla as well).

Mine blends in with the colour, and one would NEVER know it was damaged. (He's done it twice for now, first i stuffed the left, then i stuffed the right a few months later)

Should take him less than a day (ie drop off morning, pickup afternoon).

Im sure it will be cheaper than respraying those 3 panels.

  5. okay kewl..

i wanna get the proxies t1-r but dun think i can afford em..

so next choice are the trampio tpg any good? i dont really wanna go nankangs but i heard the ultra sport 2s are okay? opinions?? thanks

DuGong seemed to like them, ask him for his opinion on them.

    http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...pic=4995&hl=tpg

My mate had some low end 14" Toyos (i think 330's) on his corolla, i loved them, they hugged the road better than the stock dunlop sport toyota gave me (and mine were 15")

Also The TPG's are being replaced by the Proxes 4, if you're in Sydney, Blairs Cabramatta seems to be cheapest for Toyos.

205/50 r16 is as wide as I'd go on the stock rims.

    eh? Why is that?

    205/55/R16 can support 5.5 - 7.5" rim depth.

    Would 205/55/R16 scrape?

  6. I reckon 215 will be a bit too big for the stivo, might slow it down as well.

I'm getting some Kumho 205/50 16's fitted, any opinions?

205/55/R16 are a common profile, therefore being cheaper.

i think stivo rim width range is 5.5"-7",

so "215/50R16" should be a close match to factory?

Does this profile exist in Australia?

  7. For my 50,000km service ive decided to supply my own oil (The Mobil 1 Gold 10w-30 as recommended by you guys), and im gonna take it to my mechanic to get it done.

My mechanic also asked me if i had my own oil filter, but after I said no, he said he's got ones in stock.

Now if im to go buy my own oil filter, which one do i get? I seen the price start off @ $10 and go to $25 and maybe even higher.

Im gonna take the car to service this Thursday (so that leaves me 2 days to get the oil filter), so if you guys could give me some suggestions that would be great!

    Thanks all!

  8. upgrade to 17's! looks a whole lot better and rubber isnt much more expensive than those shocking bridgestones

205/45/R17 are also an uncommon profile, they are around the same price as the bridgestone turanzas E30.

215/45/R17 is a cheaper common profile, but some ppl have said they scrape the guards.

44gze is selling his sportivo tyres + rim for $500 (approx 5000km), so maybe if you can then sell your existing rims with the worn rubber (approx $200) to offset the cost.

  9. hi all,

my sportivo need some new rubber, just wondering anyone in here knows where there is cheap deal of 195/55 r16 in Sydney.

    thanks heaps

195/55/R16 is expensive because its uncommon (The Turanza E30 are like $200+ per tyre), you can always try another profile like 205/55/R16 or 215/55/R16 instead.

The only way you're gotta get a cheap deal on the 195/55/R16's is if someone is selling their existing rubber (if you offer me $130 per tyre you can have mine, then i can go get some Toyo 205/55/R16's :P)

205/55/R16 89V i believe is a more common profile (hence cheaper), I made an inquiry from Blairs Tyres @ Cabramatta for some Toyo Trampio TPG's @ 205/55/R16, and they were like $144 per tyre and 205/50/R16 are $195 (i havent used this particular tyre but others have and said its excellent).

215/50/R16 would be the closest match, but i dont think that tyre exists :P

Edit: Fixed mistake, 205/55/R16 is the common profile, not 215/55/R16.

  10. never lived there but i lived in launceston, the roads r great down there but besides that its boring and lots of homeys, theres even a group called adidas gang they all 8-30 years old di*ks, they want to smash everyones head

Adidas gang? WTF? Do they all wear Adidas?

What about Nike/Reebok/Converse/Puma/Champion gang, surely those must exist too. :P

  11. Yeah, its also $120 for a gallon of Shockproof. You only need 2L so its $60 if you buy 2 quarts. To be honest I havn't tried MT-90, so can't comment on it. I figured $60 isn't to bad since it will be in there for a while. But $120 for engine oil is a bit pricy considering its only there for 10 thousand.

But a better buy for the best oil on sale is Motul 300V, its about $90 for 4L

    Saw the Motul 300v 10w-40 4L for $80

  12. just buy some seat covers instead.

    I got a front + back set for $75 =)

Repco currently have a special and have a front + back set for $45 (mine look similar to that but with out the dragon/scorpion or whatever picture stitched into the seat is).

    http://www.repcoshop.com.au/ASP/Catalogue/CatPage11.asp

Also i found that the particular seat covers i had absorb liquid quite well (it had some foam padding of some sort).

My gf also split some powerade on my seat covers (she didnt tighten the lid properly and left it in the car, left a mark about 20cm in diameter), but when i checked the actual seat, it was still DRY!

When you sell the car leave the seat covers on... the next owner will never know. LOL

I prefer these seat covers to the throw overs cos they actually stay and dont slide around.

  13. hey guys

any of you have/ have had HR racing rims? Saw a couple of white ones on the vic boys stivos last dyno day, so how do they fair? agrtyres.com.au sell them but i dont know know if those prices are about right and the wheels are actually genuine?. So any info would be great cause im looking at getting new wheels soon and i like the HR racing style and its cheaper than the lensos that i was looking at the other day :)

    Cheers
