  1. so you guys reckon i'd better use spray gun and touch up paint?well if you say so, i'll just have to go with it.so first of all, i had to mix the touch up paint wif thinner? then after mixing it then i'll just fill the spray gun with the paint, rite?or i can just fill up the spray gun wif the touch up paint THEN i fill with thinner?where to buy and what kind of thinner?

i reckon you should just go to a panel beater/spray painter.

If you were in Sydney i'd recommend you go to DSports who charge $20~$30 to spray.

Pickup the yellow/white pages and call up to see what prices you get.

Door handles will cost more to get done professionally as they need to take off the inside of the door to get to the handle, most wont just spray it on cos they know its looks crap.

Here the thread with the prices of painting.

  2. You can tell straight away thats not a real intercooler, and you're right its all about RICE, but it doesnt look nice.

I reckon you'll have more ppl pointing and laughing at ya than anything else.

Some ppl may say it looks good, but there will more "WTF, what an idiot" comments.

Reckon you should spend the money on a CAI instead.

  3. Hi all,

Has anyone bought the genuine "Talon" 6 spoke mags for the Corolla from Toyota? I saw some today in Tungsten and thought they looked OK, and at approx $145 ea that's not too exxy on the wallet.

    cheers

    Ralph

i thought they looked rather crap.

    The Sportivo wheels look better.

  4. My friend did step #1, pay an extra dollar so they couldnt deduct any points off him, it sorta worked to a certain degree, didnt stop him losing points, but it did stop him from losing his licence.

    This is what happened,

He had one point left on his P plates, he coped a neg driving (3 points), he paid the fine, paid extra

6 months later he recieved a letter telling him to go get his full licence (this was before the green/red P thing came in play for NSW).

He gets his full license, 1 month later the 3 points that should have been deducted 7 months ago, gets deducted now, so he never lost his licence.

The same mate also had a joke played on him by the person over the counter @ the RTA a year later.

He asked how many points he had left on his licence (as he knew he copped a few fines), the person over the counter says

"You have 8 points" and pauses, my friend starts smiling and is really happy cos he thought he had less than that.

The person then finishes off the sentence after waiting for this reaction with the words "Taken off"

Then my mates face scrunches up, and im next to him cracking up.

  5. the system is a little dodgy...

you should lose points and a fine but then who knows....

I remember the urban myth of

    1. Pay an extra $1 on your fine - due the discrepancy, they cant process it and you wont lose points.

    2. Dont pay the fine, and wait for it to go the state debt recovery office, then pay the fine with whatever interest they slap on top. Because the fine is now at the state debt recovery, they only care about the money, and points dont get taken off.

Any of the above still true?

    I know this one works.

Driver a company car, get booked, have the fine sent to work, work pays, you pay work back, no one loses any points - Happened to my boss. LOL

  6. i went to phil gilbert (i think thats the name) toyota today and enquired about the air con filter and they told me that there was no filter that came with the corolla. they said they might be able to get a lexus one, as all lexus models come with a filter, but it would cost 70 or 80 bucks... stuff that...

how annoying is this lack of a/c filter?!

    are u serious?

    then what did i order?

hmm i better inquire about it tomomrow

    LOL!

Pics + Part number please, i wanna make some inquiries too!

  7. Hey guys I have a 1ZZ and it didnt come with one either! stinko!

My description of the smell would be a sweaty stink? u know that smell of clothes when they arent properly dried off yet. yeah...that smell

Went to toyota to get one today.

    COST roughly about $21 each.

can you get a pic and part number for it please?

  8. Stivo bodykit installed!!! @$350!!! front lip and two side skirts - WHAT A BARGAIN! :)

...what an expensive week $_$ CAI + Bodykit

What the front lips like? Did you remove and replace the entire front bar?

  9. I always recommend genuine pads... But the only problem is the price as they come from japan...

    They are worth around $80...

You could however go to Supercheap or likewise and pick some pads up for around $30 or so...

Been recommended to have a look at EBC, how does this compare to the genuine pads.

Im not overly concerned about cost (unless of course you're asking me to fork out $300+ per pad :P), but in terms of stopping distance/longevity how do the two compare.

Brake dust im not concerned about, i try to wash the car every weekend anyway.

  10. On my last service my mechanic told me Ive got about 5000km more on my front brake pads, so im looking to buy some in advance to replace them as soon as that comes up.

So im wondering which ones do you guys use, Im dont classify myself as a hard braker, but I do want someone that will stop the car when i step on the brakes.

Anyways, what do you guys recommend, and how much are brake pads anyway?

(Does repco/supercheapauto sell them cos they got a sale on this weekend - Also picked up some Mobil 1 10w-30 for $64 @ SuperCheapAuto for those looking for some oil :D )

  11. Whoever is looking for the Toyo Proxes T1R check out this link:

    http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40859

JDMYard is located in Padstow, Sydney and are selling these tyres for 165 fitted and balanced each. Bargain if you ask me...too bad i already bought some damn tyres for the subaru.

hmmmz 205/45/R16.... a bit small for us rolla drivers.

    205/50 or 205/55 is a closer profile.

    Fcking awesome prices though :D

  12. ok so i read some other posts on here about there being a weird smell coming from the A/C.. i've had this problem for a few weeks now. usually (but not always), when turn on the a/c, i get this bad smell coming from my vents.. i cant really explain the smell...

anyway some posts said to pull out the filter which is located behind the glove box.. i just pulled a white tray thing out from behind my glove box, which im assuming is the 'filter' ... now there is nothing attached to this white 'tray'.. its just a bit of plastic with 12 rectangular holes... i would assume if its a filter there would be some sort of mesh or spongy stuff, but there is nothing...

here's the question of the hour - should there be something on my tray? or is it just a useless piece of removable plastic and i havent found the filter yet?

So how do i get to this filter? Do i reach behind the air filter? Is there even a gap there?
