  1. When you swap the tyres, you will need to jack the car up =) "Wheels are off the ground" When this happens your wheel alignment is altered. Have you noticed when you do jack the car up the wheels all pulled in? Now when you are getting the car back on the ground, unless you slowly do it and pull the wheel out as you lower it. It will stay buckled in on a slight angle.
  2. I'm actually running Nankangs 18s on my camry. Yes I know they are a cheap brand and have a bad rep. But if you think about it, the bad rep is from the people who owns skylines, supras, insert sports car here that want cheap tyre but super high performance as well. The Nankangs are extremely sticky in the dry!!! In the wet, they are very average but fun! They are a little bit on the noisy side too. But i weighed all this up before the purchase, as i usually fly around corners in the dry and since i have a stereo, it doesnt really matter with the road noise. With tyres, you need to ask yourself, what are you doing to do with them? What do you want to achieve? No point getting super sticky, high performance $$$ tyres if you are just going to drive around around slowly to get from A to B. If you are one of these people, then the things you look for are, tyrewear, noise, and performance in the wet. Btw, my tyres costed me $180 each (235/40 18)
  3. IMHO, hertz speakers arent all that crash hot. But for 150, they are very good value. And what do you mean about the size? Size matters if you are talking about the woofer. Bigger the better. And the bigger the magnet, the more power they can usually handle.
  4. Because the tyres have not been worn evenly. Have you noticed how all our roads are angled to the left and things like round abouts are always turning right? As a matter of fact we usually turn right faster than we turn left, (to get through before on coming traffic comes) . This puts extra wear on that tyre and suspension components there as all the weight is pushed towards that corner of the car and thus the outside left edge of the left front usually wear faster. The opposite is the case in the states. Pot holes, speed bumps, anything that sets the car unbalanced can ruin wheel alignment Another thing that will affect wheel alignment will depend on how you park on the side of the streets. If you climb the curb and stay there, it puts extra stress on the suspension. Now say you've rotated the tyres, the actual alignment of the suspension is still wrong even if you put brand new tyres on. Every time you jack the car up so that the whees are off the ground ruins the wheel alignment. This is why they do the alignment after they take all the wheels back on, and on a flat surface. Proper tyre care will be to do a wheel alignment and rotation every 5000-10000km. And the amount of km on a set of tyres depend on a lot of things too. Such as the stickiness of the tyre (soft/hard compound - harder it is the slower the wear but not as grippy), the way you drive (flying round corners, chirpies), the actual quality of the tyre, and the way you look after them. You can wear through a tyre with 10000 without doing burnouts or those if you have bad alignment. (Wears out the 1 edge of the tyre so the whole tyre needs to be scrapped)
  5. The rear sway bar of both gen4 and gen5 have the same model numbers. And the thicker the swaybar, the stiffer, the less amount of body roll you have. The whiteline sway bar on my car has made my car from understeering monster to a fun neutral/nearly oversteering toy lol. It handles way better than the stock car ever can be.
  6. And do it yourself!! Just take the rear wheels off, and undo 3 bolts at each end. Then just go under the car and undo 2 bolts for each of the 2 mounts. Slide it out and put the new one in. 30-45mins and its done!!!
  7. Moisture was in the doors everytime it rains even without the sound deadening. The drainage holes fix this up. Unless you covered these holes, there will be no more moisture problem than a stock door.
  8. well i have gotten inside information regarding this. There are ONLY 7 BRAND NEW kits left in the Toyota Australia warehouses. 6 in melbourne, 1 in sydney. So get in quick if you want them. The price including gst is $1369
  9. dunno about the other states but in QLD, if you change your tyre/rims; The overall diametre of the new rims+tyre can only be +/- 1inch compared to the stock rims+tyre. The width is the same, +/- 1 inch.
  10. ^^^^ hahaahahah Agreed Nankangs are not all that bad... I am running them on my camry. It isnt as tho you are going to take your car to the tracks or even drive it like it was stolen every day... Also Nankangs will get about 30,000km if you treat it right. Just because sports car owners who use them and drift/spins the wheels at every corner on a saturday night cant get good milage doesnt mean you wont get good milage. It all comes down to how well you treat it. Look after your car and tyres and you'll see them live a longer life BTW the dry grip of the nankang is exceptional can be comparable to more expensive tyres. In the wet, its a little more slippery than more expensive tyres but know it and drive more carefully.
  11. lol lows are only about 5 mm higher than superlows =P I've got superlows on and the car still sits 132mm off the ground! Way too high. But it has never hit a speed bump yet.
  12. cant wait for those projectors! it'll look hot!
  13. Looks nice. If only they came in 18s lol. I'd get them if they did. Get superlows, if you are planning to lower it. =) I've got them and i want the car to sit at least 2-3cm lower... It didnt drop as much as it said it would =/
