    Fujitsu Ten

Why dont you just buy an Eclipse CD player ? Eclipse is made by fujitsu ten who makes the OEM stuff for toyotas. Otherwise wreckers would be the go but you dont know how good or bad they are.
  2. That wasnt a kit made for the camry. Like mine, it was a retro fit with projectors from a car that came with hids. Mine ones are from an Lexus RX330 fitted into the camry headlights. There are lots of drilling, cutting and what not but the end result is much better!
  3. Not to put a downer on things but you guys do know that putting HIDs into your factory housings puts out heaps of glare to on coming traffic and people in front of you! If you really want the HID look, do it properly and retrofit projectors into the headlighs. This way you will get that awesome cut off with firstly looks heaps better, and secondly it doesnt blind everyone around you and you actually get the benefits of using HIDs. Putting them into a projector will be brighter than just chucking them into the housing by heaps! As more and more people install these kits onto factory housings, sooner or later, this will be one of the things the police will crack down on and its best to have it done properly first time so you dont get booked. (Not trying to flame but just something that should be thought of before installing one of those kits)
  4. all coloured tints are illegal unfortunately
  5. The front on the Gen4s are NOT 6x9s they are 6.5in.
  6. I would never use armourall. It can lead to cracked dashes by drying it out faster and causing it to be brittle!
  7. darkest legal in qld is 35%. Factory tint is 6%. So if you put darkest legal tint of 35% + the factory tint = 29% tint and thus illegal. But saying that no one will book you for it. T-18/20 = ambulance tint. Illegal! and you'll need to drive with your windows down at night but looks the best. You can get 5% tint but dont bother driving at night!
  8. Firstly with a smallish system like that there should NOT be any light dimming effect at all. What power cable are you running from battery to the amps? What grounds are you running from the amp to the chassis? Where are they grounded? I'd advise you to run a length of 2ga down from the battery to distroblock and then to amps. And then run 2ga from amps to chassis. First thing I would do is the make an extra or replace the stock grounding points from the battery to the chassis. Then i'd start looking at something like the little optima yellow top battery. It is the same size as the stock battery but a million times better. Putting a capacitor is only a band aid solution to this problem and a complete waste of money. It does NOT fix it. The capacitor it put even more stress to the charging system of the car. When you start running HUGE systems and have exhausted all the other solutions then you'd look into a capicitor as a very last resort!
  9. Currently running an IDMax at the moment. But I'll definitely recommend the IDQ especially if you like space!
  10. I don't know about now but that was a while back and from a connection in the toyota head quarters department. He did a rain check for me on his computer. If you find someone with old stock, offer them money instead of paying full rrp. I picked mine up for $500 But if i remember correctly they were at toyota warehouses so full rrp for them.
  11. And the fact that you need to buy the software for Australian roads.. This does cost quite a lot!
  12. I am assuming it is very similiar to the gen4. You have to take the rear seats off. The pews on the bottom is only held on by 2 clips which just pops off with some force. Stick you fingers under the seat about 40cm from one side and just yank upwards, this should unpop it. And do the same with the other one. Then you'll need to take the curtain bit of the back rests off, held by a bolt on the bottom and a latch. Once you undo the bolt, push the seats towards the back of the car and lift upwards at he same time. You'll need to undo the bolts for the seat belts too Then take the quarter trim bits off. this is held on by about 4-5 clips and will take some patience and probably minor cuts. Start from the top, it should unlatch from the other trim bit and then wedge it open a little and shine a torch in there. You'll be able to see one of the clips, using something like a clip remover or a flat tool such as wire cutters/strippers, you should be able to pop this off. You'll need to take time and try and pop it out straight or clips will break. And slowly work your way down to the parcel shelf Then the parcel shelf should be held on by 2 clips and a bolt (the child restraint bolt. Undo the bolt and uncover the 2 other child restraint bolt covers. Using the 2 formerly covered holes, lift it up and it should pop off. Thread the seat belt through and voila you see speakers! but just a note of warning you will see speakers which are held on by 3 screws. To put aftermarket speakers in you will need to cut an mdf ring if you want it to sound remotely good. Do the opposite to put everything back together! I've done this a million times in my car already lol
  13. Unfortunately the carmate kits doesn't appeal to me. I too would rather stay with the stock look but lowered with big wheels. If it doesnt look good enough for you then do the body kit. Or you could do what I did on my gen4.5 and helping someone make for his gen3. Retro fit a pair of projectors and get a HID kit with it. But you must have the projectors bit first or it won't look good at all. (See my avatar :) )

    Budget Tyres

Nankangs arent that bad unless its raining or you have a very powerful car. They are grippier than the michellins i had on in the dry, but nice and slippery in the wet perfect for having some fun.
  15. Nope he's still got it. Send him a pm =). I'll tell him you asked about it next time i see him on msn.
  16. The bottom air box is the resonator =). It is put there to silence the intake noise and thus making the car quieter for their intended buyers (family people). I know that this is a little snorkel that goes behind the left head light with the Gen4s. It goes from there into the resonator and then out of the resonator at the same opening. Removing or modding the resonator like above, would give better throttle response. I'm about to get a SRI from the states and then modding it into a CAI very soon.
  17. If anyone have to replace shocks and springs at the same time, i'd save up an extra couple of hundred for coil overs. The G4 coil overs are only $1399 And installing them is easy - dont need spring compressors because you wont need to take the springs out of the struts - just replacing the whole strut assembly with a new one. All you need to do is really a wheel alignment done after you installed them.
  18. Judging from the Gen4s, the superlows only goes down 35mm, The lows only goes down by 20mm
  19. you wouldnt want to touch Boss with a 10foot pole. It'll cause you more trouble than anything. Save up a little more and get something that will last you a while. And also the boss amp ratings only occurs when lightning strikes it. Dont expect big power from those. And lastly, i have seen a boss amp melted so beware.
  20. They look like the genuine toyota GTP rims off the camry.
  21. I use a 18x8 rim and sitting on superlows. The lowest part of the car is the exhaust/chassis rails at 130mm so way higher than the legal requirement. The rear guards had to be rolled because it scrubbed when you have 5 people in the car when turning or when you go over a bump. The fronts wheel wells are roomy and there will be no problems with the 8in wide rims even with the lowering and full lock. The tyres you want to use on a set of 18s are 235/40 R18, because it is cheap since so many cars use it and because it is closest to the stock size in terms of overall diametre. I got Nankangs on them atm. While they arent no where near the best option, they are good enough for a camry. Most people who complain about the Nankangs drive supra's and skylines where they go round corners a lot faster. You'll just have to be more cautious in the wet. I got mine for $185 each. You'll also need an offset of about 40. Anything higher and you'll need spacers in the rears too coz the inside rim will touch the struts. That is the round about clearance. Thats the gap you are looking at with the rears. What the car looks like from the side with a kit And without one This is what i would look like from the side without a kit on. (400kb)
  22. Firstly rear speakers doesnt need to be upgraded at all. Best idea would be to get a headunit and a set of decent front speakers. Leave the rears as stock. Why? Because to make it sound good, you want the sound to come out from in front of you not behind you. Ie you stand in front and faceing the stage at a concert and not having your back to the singer/s.
  23. Should at least take off the resonator if you are going to do the above. A nicer roar ! lol But most people like the pods before of mainly sounding faster than real power.
  24. hmmm that is very close to V6 power there. Just a little less torque. Good work =) Now i just need to find some money and a shop that will do something like that
  25. saw these on the road 1 week before their actual launch. Dealers were driving them to and from work with trade plates lol. They look nice. was a sportivo model, but they are big heavy cars and there is no way a 2.4L engine will propel properly. I too would wait till the aurion comes out. Especially the sportivo =)
