    need help

Alignment issues maybe. When your steering wheel is straight, check if both tyres are pointing straight. Sometimes they toe out like this. \ / (that is an exaggeration but you get the idea). And thus it is scrubbing hard which causes the burning rubber smell.
  2. I'd go the Alpine W202 headunit or the new one thats coming out and if you really keen on sq, add the processor to it. I'm using the D310e and its hasnt missed a beat in my sq setup. And those PDX amps actually have very good sq. There are better out there but they cost a lot more.
  3. I too would advise you to just get the Toyota LLC. Think of it as insurance. $50 now could save you on $xxxx later on in the track.
  4. Haha when the only way to continue the journey is to call a poor guy and get him to come in from home, open the shop and fit a tire on a public holiday, you show your appreciation however you can! (also the fact that the tire issue delayed the journey by 2 hours.... you could say time was a factor....) True, forgot it was a public holiday. :)
  5. Did you have to jack up and replace your own tyre at the tyre shop? And I really like the sticker thru the windscreen! Very different and impressive!
  6. I am hoping you have projectors retrofitted. And usually it is just plug and play too and pooh's method works too
  7. we need a budget to work with if you want recommendations with ICE.

    Destroyed

Well while you are at it, should change the colour to BLACK!
  9. www.installdr.com Follow the links to the camry :)
  10. Speakers / headunits are made by a factory with "Alpine" written all over the outside. They do not make any other brands in that factory. They do get others to design their speakers like scanspeak for the original type Xs. And bostons are like focals, they are very bright tweeters - with the wrong music and they'll take your head off!! The mid basses are very strong, like other American brands (its a good thing). And I dont see how resting the whole car on the a sub being a selling point as they will still burn out if you run a clipped signal to them as will any sub. I had an idmax which had one of the voice coils melted into the basket after there were lots of smoke and it still worked and sounded fine. It wasnt until we pulled it apart that we found out how bad it was. (It smoked up because someone decided to wire it wrong and had the voice coils working against each other.)
  11. Ummm you didn't do the outer door skin? Now you'll never be able to do it since you've covered all the service holes. People usually do the outer door skin first before you do the inner skin or even not do the inner skin.
  12. Unless part of the actual headlight housing is broken, you can get the adjusters by it self. All it is, is a little piece of plastic thing with a screw/bolt thing. And i got it from a toyota parts dealer.
  13. Errrrm its like $10 for the adjuster. I bought 2 myself just recently. But maybe its different for a gen4.5. :s
  14. Speakers power rating are useless in terms of working out how good/bad they sound like. It is a *guide* to matching amps but then again it isnt all that useful too. You can put an amp of xxxxx watts to a speakers of xxx watts and not blow them up if you set them up properly. An example would be like firstly my stock speakers that i had running off an big alpine amp. They are rated at 30w rms but i was giving each of them 80w rms and they sounded awesome. At the moment my current splits are rated at 80w rms i think but i'm running them with 400wrms for the last 12 months. Nothing has blown up. :) So with speakers, you have to use your ears to see which you like best and not your eyes to see what the specs are. But like i said before, focals are too bright for me.
  15. Where are you getting this info that the type X are being discontinued? I was told there are new models coming out.
  16. Ok just to let you know, Type-X are not discontinued, there are new models coming out though. However DDlinears have been discontinued a little while ago. And those TypeX will definitely still be the pick of the group.
  17. You need to reseeal the headlight. To do this, just do what leon said. This softens the seals and you will be able to either pry it out a little and then squash it together again. This way it seals the headlight once again.
  18. The 1mz in the v6 camrys are a very pingy engine. Was told this by a mechanic at a toyota service centre. If i run my car off 93 octane, it pings a little too. But yeah run it on 95 or 98 and you and your engine will love you for it :)
  19. And TypeX fronts definitely have SQ in mind where as the subs are a little more SQL ish.
  20. With that budget, I'd be looking seriously into the Alpine Type X speakers. They are very similar to the DynAudio speakers worth $1000. I dont like the mbquarts/focal sound because they are way to bright whereas the TypeX speakers are nice and warm! But if you do save up a little bit more I'd be definitely looking at the Dynaudio range! :D.
  21. You'll need to find a drill be sharp enough and drill short enough for that to work as you have about 5 cm to work with :P And why not do it right first time so there are no probs later :) Saves the trouble of redoing it again later on :)
  22. Except most of the colour films that i see are reflective like a biatch which are the ones i'm referring to. Pretty much a mirror. I always see this person with green one which you pretty much cant see the inside because all you see is yourself. As a matter of fact i havent really seen any coloured one that isnt reflective :s . They all look cool but definitely past the 10% rule.
  23. Sorry to tell you this but you'll need spacers. This is because Toyota is renowned for using 3 screws to hold down their speakers whereas all aftermarket speakers have screws on all 4 corners. This means that you will need to make a spacer screwed down using the original 3 screw holes and then screw your speakers in using the 4 standard screws if you know what i mean. There is also the problem with the way the parcel shelf is shaped to fit the 3 screw configuration. So if you were to just try to drill new holes, then there will be gaps everywhere and probably sound worse than stock unfortunately. There is no easy way to do this.
