  1. Not 100% sure on accommodation as yet, I'd say I'll just stay at my aunt's out in Airport West and come into the city. Am still trying to convince a few others to come along. Glad to see there are quite a few coming along, it should be a great meet!
  2. Hello all, seeings I thought I better get somewhat active and posting again I figured I better show you all what I'm driving these days!!! I recently purchased (end of Feb) and ex-demo 2006 Camry Sportivo in Aurora Gold, manual transmission (xD) and only 20,000km on the clock; she was, and still is, immaculate with only a few scratches and a couple of stone chips on the front end. So far the only mod's are tint, reverse sensors (thrown in as part of sale), rear Sportivo scuff plates and a handsfree car kit. I don't really have anything planned as it's under factory warranty until the beginning of 2013 or 150,000kms, although she may get some new rims once I've used up these tyres! Anyway I hope you enjoy the pics and I'm very much looking forward to meeting some of you at this year's Mega Meet :D (Oh and yes, in case you couldn't already tell I am a massive Essendon fan hahah)
  3. Howdy all, I thought I better dust the "cobwebs" off my TOCAU account and get in on the action (resident Auscam.org member here, have been slack on the TOCAU front!!); I live in Bendigo, VIC so it would be madness to miss out on all the fun. Count me in for the Saturday stuff as well as the cruise on Sunday - I'm driving an '06 Aurora Gold Camry Sportivo (manual trans :D) since the end of Feb (no more Gen 3 cam) so would love to join in the photo opp's. I'm not sure about accommodation as yet, I have an aunt in Airport West but am thinking it'll be easier to stay in town with you all, plus I'm still trying to rope in a mate from Auscam to come over from Adelaide. Do you need to know about accommodation by any certain date as yet? I better go hunting for a CB radio/handheld heheheh Oh and did anyone answer whether an e-tag for the weekend was necessary?? - Tash

    My '95 Camry

Heheheh well I'll keep you in mind if I ever need some parts Corzza! Good pick-up Wixy - got them at Bob Janes last September, they were called Akuza in Hyper Silver and are 15 x 6.5's. $699 with tyres, locknuts and alignment.
  5. Toyota quoted $189 for one RH light... Unfortunately though for me the lens was already starting to separate prior to the accident, and the accident has aggravated it, so that's what they're "arguing" about. Don't think its going to be replaced, but its okay and you cant actually tell unless you push on it, so I'm not worried about it falling out or anything. If it does think I'll go for a set of those 'performance' tail lights anyway seeings they're only $5 more for a pair than Toyota's price for 1 light.

Heheh thanks Zeus - Only 6 more months til I get those nasty red P's off. Cant say I blame you for taking them off, in a uni town like Bendigo P platers are everywhere, so they all pick on each other and normal drivers frequently cut you off. So I can't wait to ditch them!! I quite like the Gen 3 too.. she's certainly grown on me, and I know what you mean re. being envied - I really like your colour and I like to think that the little bit of love we show, the small mods we have and the way we drive makes us stand out from the pack ;)

    My '95 Camry

Heheh me too, although as I said I'm extremely disappointed it's not a manual, so for that reason if I had the cash, I'm afraid I'd probably pick something else with the power with a manual trans.. Although if I won tattslotto I'd probably buy it and something in a manual lol
  8. Don't know if this helps you or not but for my hyper silver finish alloys I just run the car through the carwash (so presoak, hot soap, rinse, spot free rinse) to get most of the dirt etc off and then I use a Kenco micro fibre detailing cloth (was about $5 from Super Cheap and can be washed) to rub them dry, and it takes away all of the grime/grease/dirt left behind and leaves them really shiny. It takes a little bit of elbow grease, but I don't use any products at all on them, just water and the cloth.

Hehe - I guess it depends on what kind of job I get out of uni; looking to upgrade a year or two out of uni, too bad the Aurion isn't in a manual though (especially the TRD one!) Yeah I'm down in Vic in Bendigo for uni, I'm from North East vic though - Wangaratta. How about you?

  11. Thanks for the input CHROMEEZ and the link vivioman - thinking I'll just wait until it does (or if) it falls out and worry about replacing it then. You can't tell anyway unless you push it in (its sort of wiggly in its place), and I doubt it'll pop out unless its seriously windy/a lot of water gets in or something, and it never rains in Bendigo lol

Heheh if I had the money some 18"s would be on in a flash ;) As well as many other things!

    My '95 Camry

Thanks :) I think you're right about it being subtle; a spoiler would probably ruin it. Plus it's driven well and with pride, so I guess that makes it stand out too heheh
  14. Well, this is my 1995 Camry. Pretty stock, Manual 4cyl 5S-FE engine but in a town full of uni students (including myself) its fun to show who's boss to P platers in Hyundais who think they're hot heheheh So far I've added some 4" Hertz front speakers (from memory they're around 100 watts), some 6 x 9 350 watt Kenwoods in the rear and a Pioneer 200 watt DEH-5850, chrome exhaust tip, remote central locking with immobiliser and some pretty nice 15" alloys. (Probably won't go bigger due to cost, plus a couple years out of uni I'll upgrade anyway) Planned for the end of the year is window tinting as dark as I can go (sun often shines in on trips home to Wangaratta) and I guess maybe other small mods. It was going to have a spoiler painted and put on that I got off a fellow camry at a wrecker but unfortunately it cracked. I've been thinking that the Camry looks better without it anyway :) Any other fellow camry drivers in Bendigo or North East Victoria?

  18. Hi all, been a long time since I posted here so forgive me if it's in the wrong place. I got rear ended last month and after having repairs done it seems that the accident has aggravated an underlying problem - water/condensation previously got into my RH drivers side tail light but I'm told now that the lens is actually separating from it and is probably going to need to be replaced. The RACV/Repairer are still discussing whether it should be replaced because of the accident, but don't think that's going to happen. The car was taken back to them a second time today because the gaps around the tail lights/boot was too large (not fixed properly).. its been reduced but unfortunately still a little bigger than all the other Camry's. Anyway I've two options seeings the tail light lens is probably going to work its, and lord knows what else, way out. I could attempt to use some kind of adhesive to glue the lens back to the light and hope it works, or replace the whole assembly. Super Cheap Auto have a pair of performance tail lights for $195 and they said they're like those clear ones you can get for Commodores etc.. Has anyone seen what they look like or if they're any good? The car is Panama Blue (green colour) so not sure what it'd look like. Any input on the matter is much appreciated :)

    My Camry Build

Fantastic! I'm a huge fan of that Gen of Camry (I love my 95 manual csi to bits) and would love that bodykit on mine... the mod's sound fantastic, be sure to post some pics as you progress!
  20. I use Toyotas genuine coolant... I dont know if $12.95 a litre is considered expensive... I've also been told by many that when needing a top-up you can be a bit relaxed with the ratio and add more water to top it up.. but yes, dont mix coolants!! Flush out the radiator of the old first :)

    SERVICE

I've the same year Camry (not a vienta though) - if the timing belt hasnt been replaced already then it's a good idea to do it now... mine was replaced at 100,000 so won't need to be done again until the 200,000 mark. I do my minor 5000km services myself wtihout worry, and the major services I take to the Mazda dealer in Wangaratta where I'm from (where mum bought her car - the blokes are great) and they do it pretty cheap - only cost me $200 for my big 150,000 service and it got the works. I guess you've just got to shop around like the people above have suggested... Don't go to Toyota - they have forgotten that they have older model Camry's and are pretty unprepared to deal with them.. I recently contacted my local dealer regarding wheel specs and they told me they dont have any data for anything "that old" which I thought was pretty pathetic. Just because it's a decade old doesnt mean people still dont require work/info on them! Definitely find out how old the timing belt is though :)
  22. If Mitsubishi, Holden & Ford can continue making manuals in a sedan with a bit of grunt (not to mention many other companies) then I don't see why Toyota can't... anyway I'll stop harping on about it, but its still not good enough. Still a very nice looking car though :)
  23. Yeah good point - it still sucks though! I'm not concerned about having a manual with a whole heck of a lot of power, I just want a V6 manual for next car and was looking forward to making that a Toyota. Holden/Ford have big monsters with manual transmission and they sell... Ahh well!
