  1. Grr... Won't be getting a next gen camry or aurion then :( I cant stand this new age of car developing where manual transmission has fallen by the wayside.. it just absolutely sucks! I will be turning to another company for a manual V6 sedan then for my next car in a couple years.
  2. Im thinking of getting a pair of Hertz to go with my kenwood 6 x 9's in the back... I've a 95 Camry so they'll only be 4 inch... Autobarn have them for $80 in a 4 inch... I'm not looking to have it win at any comp or anything, just to match the good sound I get from the Kenwoods and make it a little louder & clear (as the fronts rattle) - would the Hertz do the job??
  3. Have they addressed the transmission issue yet?? I emailed Toyota Australia about the Aurion and they said they couldn't tell me because they didn't know - I've still got a slight hope that there will be a manual V6, although it looks increasingly doubtful! Anybody got any more news re transmission?
  4. Just a further update... I had another go the other day when the car was clean: I used a toothpick and dipped it in the paint wiping excess off on edge of tin.. You then just dab it on the chip/scratch, let it dry for like 1-2 seconds and with a soft cloth, like a rag, rub it off & in. It actually worked really really well and was quite effective on the deeper scratches on the car.. the best part is you cant actually SEE it at all.. I hope I described that well.. try at your own risk I guess!

    SPOTTED..??

Anyone in the North East of Victoria?? I'm in Bendigo... not many nice Camry's here :( Mine is getting a spoiler on Tuesday and mags soon too, so I'll probably become one of the nicest here (certainly for a Gen 3 anyway). Once spotted a White Gen 3 Camry with the overseas (as far as Ive seen its available to import) nice bodykit in the Wangaratta area with nice exhaust... would love that kit for mine lol Loving the sounds of all these nice Camry's in Sydney! And all the ones on the forum - you've all got lovely cars!
  6. Heheh hey thanks - I saw that and spat chips as I picked it up a few weeks ago.... ah well, I guess I've got it now!!
  7. Yeah - Autobarn said around that price for a small can... a bit more for it in an aerosol, so I went to a local automotive paint supplier and as above it was $13 for a tin which matches exactly and worked fantastic.. went on flat. If there is a good auto paint supplier around I would try them over Autobarn, simply because theyre making it constantly daily... he also gave me great advice on other areas and was very helpful, have been back to see him since regarding spoiler i picked up.
  8. Yeah - was never going to try that. Have since been back and they are no good anyway, only two of the rims are in good enough condition to put on, the others all have lots of gouges/scratches etc Will just have to stick to my trusty hubcaps lol
  9. Hahah that'd be nice u54mot, although knowing crazy Bendigo drivers we'd probably be run over on the walk there!!
  10. You both bring up interesting points - for me in regards public transport if it wasnt so crappy in regional Vic i would use it to get around, however as it stands I drive 5 mins to uni there and back daily (weekdays) because its uphill (so cannot walk/ride due to heaviness of bag - not great neck/back at times)... so perhaps more emphasis needs to be placed on improving other alternatives to driving as well as making driving cleaner. As for the fuel point Im incredibly happy with my 4cyl Gen-3... I use a quarter of a tank every week and a half and I do an absolute crapload of around town driving... so for $20 odd every week and a bit Im happy... All i care about is having a manual lol

    V6 Manual...

Hahah perth.. itll go quick enough for me already! Ive just got my fingers crossed for a manual option but it just doesnt look like its going to happen... I was deadset keen on making it my next car in a couple years when I ditch current car and look for a second hand near-new one, but not if there isnt a manual - I'll be having manuals until my legs get too old to use the clutch! lol

    V6 Manual...

It'll definitely be a shame if there is no manual.. I was thinking of making it my next car in a couple of years but not if theres no manual! Thanks for sharing the site - the interactive stuff is a pretty cool way to demonstrate the car.. gave the gear shifting a go and I was watching it and it said 6.5 something when I got to 60 but it keeps claiming I did it in 6.6/6.7 secs lol
  13. Hehe yeah, or so Ive heard at any rate... Obviously you just wouldnt have as much rubber over the tyres for the road so probably not the best option... I believe thats one method of getting really low profile tyres so the mags stand out more. I would prob be looking at trading tyres in anyway for a bit of cash back and getting 15"'s it match anyway :)

    Any information?

Which Camry is it? A Gen 3 1997 or the first of the Gen 4's?? I've a Gen 3 Camry (1995) and all of the poking around Ive done comes up with about an average of a 3 out of 5 (a little higher if you've got airbags)... the framework seems to be pretty darn hard.. as an example I nabbed the spoiler off another Gen 3 Camry (getting fitted soon!) at a wreckers that had taken a really hard hit to the front and it was still really intact.. I guess with cars around that age some have the safety features and some dont as its really only from then onwards that it has become really important... but yeah I would say its probably around 3 stars out of 5. I hope that helps answer your question a little more!
  15. Thanks for the advice - will head out there for a closer inspection when I get the chance :)
  16. Hi all, Have been looking at a set of rims at a wreckers - they are the Vienta rims from the Gen 3 Camry (at least I have only seen them on Vientas) and they look in pretty good condition.. just a bit dirty. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/suggestions on what to look for or if second-hand rims arent a good idea so any help would be appreciated. They've still got the tyres on them and as Ive only just got new 14" (the rims are 15") on the front id probably stretch those over them and put them on the back and get new 15" for the front. Although my b/f just took 2 " off his commodore and has kept them so i could use those too. Thanks!
  17. I think petrol engines will still be around for some time to come - there are still plenty of motorists out there who aren't keen on gas or diesel, and at current its really the only 'viable' alternative... as I guess there are those who are still skeptical of the whole hybrid ideal... especially in terms of the power they put out. I definitely have to agree with blue_rolla though about the future of manual trans cars (sorry getting a bit off topic) - I was absolutely over the moon when I found my manual gen 3 camry (albeit it was $9500) as I wasnt having anything but a manual and wanted at least a medium sized sedan... and whoever it was that brought up the point about car manufacturers heading towards auto's is absolutely correct... I remember when my mum bought her Mazda 323 at the end of its production the first thing the dealer said to her was "Now that'll be an automatic" and Mums like "get stuffed.. manual!" and he was really surprised... I remember they actually had to request a car from Melb that was a manual so she could have a test drive. I know Holden you have to get an SS or higher to get a manual which is pathetic and its heading the same way most other places... I love the idea of getting a second hand Aurion as my second car in 3-4 years time but not if its a tiptronic and not a real manual!
  18. Thanks for that - confirmed my suspicions :)
  19. Just thought I would ask about the size of the front door speakers in a Gen 3 Csi rather than making a whole new topic... anyone know?
  20. Hey - thanks for all the feedback, those online links were great damian but am thinking I might grab the hard copy as well... definitely agree with the idea of waiting for 20% off heheh. Thanks again!
  21. Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone out there has a Gregory's manual for their car and if so are they worth purchasing? I've a Gen 3 '95 Camry and have been toying with the idea of grabbing one every time I head into Super Cheap. Thanks for any feedback :)
  22. leasaunce I daresay the main idea behind having the next gen Camry available solely as a 4cyl will be targeted towards the fuel conscious motorists who still want a family car with a reputable name that will have a decent amount of guts for a 4 cyl. In that way I guess the Aurion will be different because its a different car... so maybe that'll get rid of the idea in some peoples heads that the Camry is an old grogans car b/c the Aurion will be specifically targeted to the "revheads." Hmm... that wasnt worded very well but I hope you get what I mean! I guess maybe the Camry will be more targeted towards being competitive with the Mitsubishi 380 and the Aurion the Commodore's & Falcons... I guess we'll all just have to wait and see until more comes out!
  23. Toyota can be quite expensive... I was quoted $600 (:o) from Toyota for a 150,000 km service... So I told them where to go... took it back to my home town and the Mazda dealer (my mum has a Mazda) and they did it for $200 and it still runs like a dream. The minor services I just do myself.. but yeah, find somewhere cheaper than Toyota, or find a decent Toyota dealer (sounds like you have some up in NSW)!
  24. Further to whats been posted above I went to an automotive paint supplier and had a 200ml tin knocked up for $13... exact colour match. He suggested using the end of a match and dipping it in the paint and then applying to the stone chips.. as I've got a panama blue camry (the greenish/blue) the white stone chips were quite obvious... I used the end of a match and dabbed the paint on and you cant see unless you get up real close. I hope that helps a little more :) Was also quite effective to touch up an area where some little b obviously scratched my car in a carpark.
  25. Thanks for the welcome - would love to go for a cruise.... it all depends on where and when it is! Would love to check out all these hot camry's you speak of hehehe. Ahh.. I'm from regional Vic.. got relatives in Melbourne though (doesnt everyone lol)
