  1. Kinky stuff there :P Yup that's correct. Somewhere in this forum, someone mentioned that he's got them for 5 years and they still work fine.
  2. I got the switch that you recommended from ijdmtoy and at the same time I got their cheapest DRL set. We'll see how it goes. The switch is basically a copy of the philips set, so I figured that if I wasn't happy with the DRLs, I could always get another set from china and plug them in :P Which did you get?
  3. He put it in the wrong space though. That should go at the beginning... or at least after removing the clips. Nah, after removing the clips, run inside and chuck a beer into the freezer. Don't drink so soon, it's difficult to reach as it is, beer goggles don't make it any easier! :P
  4. Saw a truck with a couple of truely blue strips the other day. Including one right in the middle. Mine should be coming in end of next week. I'll let you know how it goes.
  5. Balls... I was thinking of doing that. I actually tried removing the headlight assembly but decided that it was too difficult.
  6. Thanks alot dude, finally did it. These cuts are going to take a long time to heal.... Now, waiting on my DRLs and philips crystal visions to arrive!
  7. After spending hours kneeling beside the car getting my hands cut to shreds trying to change my parkers, I decided that no one should ever have to go through that. This method is rather crude but I suppose it's easier than removing the entire bumper. EDIT: Hidden Taco mentions that it's possible to remove the wheel arch instead of unclipping the bumper according to my guide. I have not tried it but it sounds reasonable. Okay so, You want to change your parker lights, you'll first need to decide on which lights you want to get (note that blue, red lights are not allowed on vehicles in australia) I decided to use 5 SMD (surface mounted diode) LED lights(on left of image, right is stock parker) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-T10-White-5-SMD-LEDs-Car-Side-Light-Headlight-/180667342974?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a109ce07e#ht_3582wt_905 however, according to DJKOR, these have lifespans as short as 1month, so I did some research and heard from other members here that Philips bluevision parkers have extremely long lifespans (>3 years) so I've ordered a set to replace these when they die. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PHILIPS-BLUE-VISION-4000K-T10-5W-GLOBES-PAIR-/180681035048?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a116dcd28#ht_1276wt_929 Now that you've got your replacements, let's begin: (I used gloves as my hands are in no state to work after picking up the wrong end of a hot soldering iron and spending the afternoon getting lacerations all over my arms trying to figure this out) 1. You'll need a thin flat head screw driver and a spanner. If you're crazy enough to work at night like me, get a work lamp. 2. Turn your wheel all the way till it locks for more space (thanks Buff Hamster) 3. Remove the clips holding the wheel arch in place. For no.1, you'll need to use the flat head screwdriver to turn it to vertical, then pry it out. No.2 and 3 are slightly different, you'll need to pry out the top cap, then remove the bottom clip. This is what the clip looks like: 4. Push the wheel arch upwards and you should find a screw just above where no.1 clip used to sit, remove it with the spanner 5. Using reasonable pressure, pull the bumper out of place and push the wheel arch upwards, exposing the back of the headlight assembly. You'll have to maintain pressure for it to stay open. 6. Locate the parker light assembly. To remove, twist and pull. Mine was very stiff and took alot of force to remove. (Thanks Hidden Taco for the image!) 7. Put in the replacement globe and test it. LEDs have polarity so you may have to flip it over if it doesn't work 8. If it works, put everything back in the same order and you're done! Grab yourself a beer!
  8. [sOLVED] Hey guys, I've spent a good 5 hours trying to access the parker lights and I still can't get it. My hand now looks and feels like it was mauled by a tiger I've read DJKOR's post and it still doesn't help. Could anyone point out what I should be doing in the photos attached? Otherwise, should I simply remove the bumper like Jin did here? Thanks! Edit: I just saw a post by Hidden Taco here: Instead of twisting that damned cable, I unplugged it and pulled it out, scratched my head, then spent half an hour trying to shove it back in. *face palm*
  9. Just curious, did u manage to get them to fade in and fade out? or do they just blink on and off?
  10. Honestly I find the car really really quiet, even when u step on the gas hard. Compared to the other cars I've driven; Toyota echo, Toyota wish and Honda odyssey, it's just epic silent, probs a little too quiet.
  11. Mine hardly drop 1psi in 2 weeks o.O I do around 500ks in that time... I guess I'm just not hoon enough ;)
  12. No doubts that I'm getting drls fo aesthetics but it's definitely true that bikes are difficult to spot. Couple of times I couldn't see the bike squeezing through traffic and almost slam into them while shifting lanes
  13. oh yes underbody aerodynamic wings.. Actually, I was facing the same dilemma when I was looking for my car. Either get an ATX and pimp it up (rims, gt-wing, gps headunit) or just get a zr6. Eventually, I decided on a ZR6. Go to a dealer, sit in an ATX, then sit in a ZR6. That's what I did. Somehow or other, it just felt different. Maybe the leather sports seats made a difference ;p Speaking of which, I've just realised how comfy the back seats are (not as if the front ones aren't already pretty damn good)! A pity that I never get the chance to sit in them.
  14. Actually, there's an article in the service manual "lighting.pdf" in this folder: https://docs.google.com/#folders/folder.0.0B-a6Tk-Li8MWNzQxYTZhZDgtMDc0MS00NDM1LWI0NGUtMDY4ZmRiODRmZDgw Page 76, Headlight Aim Adjustment. It's rather comprehensive though.
  15. Bit too much i got my drls for 6 dollars I could get the LED lamps for that price from china but if I'm not wrong, you don't have the automatic switch as recommended by the-converter. I mean, I could simply wire the DRLs to the ciggy lighter so that it'll turn on on engine start and shut off when I kill the engine. However, you don't have the additional features like dimming when headlights are turned on, etc. I just thought that it's worth paying a little more for that. You could get Philips Daylight 4 for 130AUD incl postage though. 83GBP + 15GBP postage off ebay UK. I decided to be cheap =D
  16. I refuse to be part of that statement where you say I am right. My personal opinion is that DRL LED strips that try to copy the Audi layout look stupid. 1) Because only Audi can truly pull the look off properly in my opinion. 2) Because the design of the Audi DRL's are such that each LED is separated and can be distinguished from quite a distance. 3) Because the Audi DRL's are integrated and not just slapped on like an accessory. Any other form of DRL like the Philips ones regardless of how they are mounted just would seem out of place as well in my opinion. As for improving safety.... whatever makes you feel better in supporting your decision. I doubt it is going to make you any safer on the road. Sadly, I don't drive a TRD. I would have gotten a 2nd hand TRD but with fuel prices skyhigh, premium fuel is painful =s Typical aurions aren't exactly head turners. I suppose that DRLs would do a little to improve that. Definitely, they won't integrate as well as european cars that have DRLs incorporated into their design but hey, it's never too late to take them off if you get sick of them ;) besides, 60bucks for a mod isn't really that expensive!
  17. Hahaha. I'm just going to order the DRL autoswitch and a set of DRLs from the link you gave. I'll think about the inline kill switch in the future. I've got a friend going to US soon, so he can pick it up for me and save like 20bucks on intl shipping. DJKOR is right... they look hell good... cars with DRLs really do stand out. If it enhances safety, all the more reason to get it ;)
  18. Sweet. That looks like a great idea. I think I might get one of these, so I don't have to draw power from the ciggy lighter. I think I'll still put in an inline kill switch though. Just might be useful sometime.
  19. Actually, I wanted to get those but they're only available in UK and they would cost around 150bucks incl shipping. If I go for the cheaper ones, I can get both HIDs and DRLs for that kind of money. Money makes the world go round =(
  20. Hey guys, I was thinking of getting a set of daytime LEDs like the ones here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170546574338&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT I want to put in a kill switch beside the parking sensors as well. Because I'm a total noob at modding, I was thinking of connecting them to the ciggy lighter in parallel with an inline kill switch to cut power to both LEDs like this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230492062561&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Is that a good idea? Or is there any other better option? Thanks!
  21. Silver Aurion TRD on Kwinana southbound? Besides, being TRD, the only noticeable feature is the roof racks. Way to go to ruin an awesome car....
  22. For anything older than 2010 model, there aren't bluetooth, auto wipers, etc. Upgrade from AT-X to SX6 17" Rims, Sports seats, upgraded tacho, stiffer (supposedly sports) suspension, body kit, spoiler. Oh and correct me if I'm wrong, sportivos have different tail & headlamps? Upgrade from SX6 to ZR6 Leather sports seats, keyless engine start (which is pretty sweet!), dual zone aircon (rather useless. I have NEVER touched it) & front passenger seat is electronic as well. The newer aurions with 'AURION' above the front wheel have alot more features. Built in bluetooth, reverse cameras, rain-sensing wipers, etc. But for 45k, I'd rather go for a 2nd hand Audi or BMW. Just sayin!
  23. thanks! will do that if getting professionals is too expensive.
  24. Hey Guys. I've got a scrape and a few scratches around 4cm long on my rear bumper. Nothing too serious. I tried touching it up with the toyota touchup paint but it still stands out like a sore thumb. Does anyone know of any good and CHEAP! touchup services in Perth? Thanks!
  25. Sweeeet. I've been wanting to get DRLs on my silver zr6 at that spot but I didn't know how it would look. Awesome. I'll probs go for the phillips one. Was it difficult to install? I'm an undergrad engineering student with no modding experience. Do you think that I would have trouble installing it? Oh and for the inline kill switch, I was thinking of putting a similar one beside the park sensor button. How did u do yours?
