  1. Hi everyone,

just to give a bit of background, I was involved in a collision back in April with a guy in a Hertz rental car, which happened at a crossroads intersection - I was coming up towards the intersection behind another car (Car A) in front of me who was indicating his intention to turn right, and I too was also indicating to turn right. When Car A got to the middle of the intersection it started turning right and I too had started turning behind him. However, as soon as he started turning right, he swerved back into the left lane which caused a blindspot to both myself and another car from the incoming side of traffic (Car B ) which collided with me.

In terms of road rules, I am at fault due to the fact that I am turning right and had to give way to the incoming traffic, regardless of the douchey move of Car A. However, I have received a request for reimbursement of the driver of Car B, who rented the car from Hertz but declined and therefore did not pay for any of the optional accident damage coverage and incurred an excess of $2xxx and is now trying to claim these additional expenses he incurred from me. I discussed this with my insurer, and they informed me that I am not legally liable to pay these additional costs (excess) that he incurred because this was a contract between him and Hertz. And that the only legal obligation I have is with Hertz and their car that was damaged in the collision. I discussed this with the other party driving Car B, and he says this is total Bull**** and that it's my fault because I hit him and almost killed him (think that was a full on exaggeration) so it's my responsibility to pay him for these costs.

just wanted to know if anyone here knows from a legal standpoint as to whether I am liable to pay for his Accident Damages Excess and other related costs? He is saying that if I don't pay him, that he will take the matter to court. My insurer will be representing me in the first instance that he tries to get this money from me via legal avenues and will deny that AAMI or I am responsible for the costs. However, we believe that he may try come after me personally, if he loses in the first instance. I'm worried whether or not he would have a strong enough case to claim these costs against me.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Nice work mate, S10 looks good.

have you priced up the trd front lip yet, I asked a mate of mine for trade price but he hasnt gotten back to me :(

thanks mate :) Kind of had my first scrapes on the bottom of my S10 today :( kind of unavoidable after lowering - seeing as the muffler is rather big!

lol I won't be hitting up a front lip for a while buddy - need to save my moolah for some other non-car related things (but will probably throw a cold air intake in there somewhere lol).

But yea I would love a trd front lip and I still need some sideys.

    How's your car going buddy?

  3. The takeda sri intake has a hole to mount sensor, so i just unscrewed sensor from stock housing and put it into pipe

Ah, interesting. Is this something that is only found on the Takeda? I'm thinking as to which would be the safer option (CAI vs SRI) and which would be the more effective one.

Wish I knew how to install this stuff by myself lol.

Btw how do you find the Takeda SRI that you installed on your friend's car vs. your custom CAI? And I thought I read somewhere that it's illegal in some states to have the pod filter in the engine bay? Anyone know if that holds true for Victoria? SRI pod filter would sit in the engine bay unlike the CAI's which is down towards the foglamps right?

  4. Any facelift ZRE's (MY10-11) with the single unit for the MAF sensor and airbox been able to fit a CAI in yet?

Also, are there any places that would make a custom CAI (in Melbourne specifically) and fit for you? or would it be best to stick with premade ones (i.e. Injen, Simota etc.)?

  5. Just got the Xforce S10 Twinloop rear muffler installed today - took about an hour and half to complete; they had to redo the rear axle or something, due to the stock system not being a straight through exhaust system (I think this is what axleback means? just adding a new rear muffler on to the exhaust system after the axle? Costed $450 bones all up for parts and fitting. Will take pics and maybe a sound/video clip of the exhaust note sometime soon.. didn't have time today. One thing that I want to mention is that you can barely hear the difference between it and the stock rear muffler from inside the car (hence no cabin droning).. but I'm wondering what it sounds like when I'm driving regularly in 50km-80km/h zone between 1k-3km rpm - I can start to hear it more at 3k+ rpm however but the engine noise kinda overpowers it from the inside of the car.

  6. Ive got a custom exhaust, supercat middle muffler and a xforce s10 twinloop on the end, heres what it sounds like.

Super cat ey? What is this super cat you speak of? Also how much did your system end up costing?

I'm still debating whether to stick with axleback, twinloop muffler + CAI or to go for the full catback, reso and twinloop muffler.

Does anyone know where I can get a CAI and have it installed in Melbourne? Mines the facelift so I don't know how I'd go about installing the CAI myself die to the MAF sensor and airbox being one unit.

Very nice note on the exhaust though btw :)

supercat is a brand of muffler, all up cost me around 300

supercat muffler + twinloop costed you 300 bucks?? jeezzz I feel so ripped off right now.

My twinloop (S10) costed $450 fitted (they had to redo my rear axle with some additional piping because it was recessed / angled? - which is what I assume what Dutchie meant when he mentioned axleback exhaust?)

Edit: btw how much "louder" should the S10 be compared to the stock rear muffler? I can only notice a subtle difference between the two on idle and when I'm driving "normally" (i.e. 50-70km zones), but can really start to hear the growl when I really rev the sucker and punch it down the highway/freeway. Just not sure how loud it is outside whilst driving, because I can barely hear anything in the cabin, which is probably a good thing though - no cabin droning.

  7. Hey man nice ride. See you were looking into installing a CAI on your facelift. Any luck so far with the MAF sensor and airbox being a single unit?

Looking at getting a CAI installed in my facelift too :S

  9. Yeah man, you would need a resonator if you wanna keep your teeth! I mean im getting old, ( ) and just couldnt handle the volume. It sounded bloody awesome tho, with the most killer overrun, but not for a daily. I was willing to reduce total flow and put the torpedo back in, thus loosing some added power too, to keep the sound where i wanted it.

You can hear my setup here:

    http://s808.photobuc...exhaustnote.mp4

Maybe opt for the axle back first, then do the rest of the system as you see fit in time. Just a suggestion B)

Ahh lol alright - I guess I'll see how much everything costs tomorrow - cat + resonator + muffler; compared to just the muffler? Does the simple change in muffler whilst keeping the stock cat and resonator do that much for sound / performance?

Btw your car is just ****ing sweeeeeet man.
